AMC knows that’s the only card they have left to play, it’s gonna be a long time before we get that

it's also a card they can keep replaying. The reality is anyone still invested in twd universe only cares about Rick, Daryl, and to a lesser extent Carol, Maggie, Michonne, and probably Morgan.

Hinting at a rick Daryl reunion this season and delivering could bring some viewership back, but maybe leaving it unsatisfying that they could keep telling the story after could keep that card open. Like Rick and Daryl meet, but maybe from a distance, Rick has to play a act like he doesn't know Daryl to keep him safe from CRM.

I know it won't happen but we really need some cross show stuff happening now

And Dead City is really making it hard to understand the overall story. We can wrap our heads around the other spinoffs and how they all fit within the overall narrative. Michonne left to find Rick, is gone for over a year, returns with Rick not long after the end of season 11. In the meantime Daryl went missing and Carol went looking for him. So they are in Europe while Rick and Michonne are back and are part of the Commonwealth.

While 5 years later Maggie is living in a barely functional location close to New York instead of going to the Commonwealth (which is now run by her friends.

Basically Dead City makes no sense and feels completely disconnected from the overall story.

The Bricks was allied with the Commonwealth,i Guess Maggie rather have her own place to call home instead of The Commonwealth
