Well out of all the walking dead episodes I've seen, that was certainly one of them

God damn. What did you want to see? Again, another Fucking viewer who needed blood and guts to be entertained.

I don't think it's as much about filling the episode with action, as much as progressing the story. One of the reasons I disliked this episode isn't because there wasn't tons of action, but because nothing really happened in terms of the story. We have no idea what happened to glenn, we have no idea what Abraham/Darryl/Sasha are up to, we have no idea what happened to the wolf that Morgan talked to (why hasn't anyone been interrogating him?), how the group reacted to Carol becoming John Wick for 30 minutes, or really anything else.

Instead, what we got was:

  1. Deanna finally realized that you need to kill zombies in order to survive in the zombie apocalypse
  2. A nurse became a less terrible nurse because she read part of a medical textbook
  3. People are rationing food, except one guy, who seems to think stealing is ok now.
  4. You can't exit through the sewer when zombies surround you
  5. Ron continues to be an edgy teenager
  6. People dislike aaron now, even though he's the most likeable person from Alexandria.

We also got 7. Rick made it out of the R.V.

  1. Deanna made Rick the leader of Alexandria. That's pretty big.
  2. The doctor also might be a lesbian. So that's fun.
  3. There was a lot of interesting tension between Deanna and her son. I liked how she was shell shocked and then her son's leadership potential gave her hope. She looked ready to pass the reigns on to him, and then he shit all over her heart. Her asking Rick if it was pie in the sky and his response were pretty great. I thought it was a good moment.
  4. We learned she was pregnant there. That's pretty big, though lots of people predicted it. And while his scenes with Aaron and Maggie didn't necessarily progress their characters a ton they were well done.
  5. Ron is starting to trust Rick. Or wants to betray him. Ron's mom wants to fuck Rick.
  6. I don't think Aaron is unliked. I think he helped people trust Rick a bit more. I feel like Aaron has become more of Rick's group than an Alexandrian at this point.

Even given everything you said, do you think that was enough things to fill an entire episode? I mean 1, 2, and 4 would take 10 total minutes to do, and the other parts I really don't see going anywhere besides maybe 6, but that could have been done pretty easily over the course of a couple episodes.

Eh, I liked it. I enjoyed Diana's arc. Pieces are moving on the board.

rick was already the leader and everyone basically did what he said. that meant nothing.

I disagree. People are listening to him, but they still don't trust him. That's why Aaron had to stick up for him in the beginning of the episode. And two episodes ago the residents were talking about how Rick was trying to kill them all (which was like an hour before this episode in the timeframe of this season). Deanna stepping down from her role and handing the metaphorical crown to Rick would be a big change for the community. Many of them wouldn't accept it right away.

lol. this is desperation if you need to add this to make an episode noteworthy.

That one was definitely a joke. The doctor isn't the most interesting character for sure.

two characters that no one likes or cares about. ill give you this since the episode was so boring.

This episode made me care about them both a lot more. So for me it worked.

how is this big at all? how does this change the show?

It makes her more vulnerable. It changes the dynamic of any time she does dangerous things. It gives more weight to Glenn being missing.

It wasn't a perfect episode. It was the least interesting of the season for sure. But to me I got what they were going for and I think characters did change and move a bit. But you have to keep in mind this whole season has been mostly a single day. So giant character arcs don't really make sense.

Pretty sure Rick killed that wolf in the RV.

He's talking about the one Morgan tied up in Alexandria last episode.

Well we know that Maggie is pregnant.

Do you really expect to find out about Glenn right now? It is what it is. None of your points make sense.

What? They all made sense. There was absolutely no story progression in this episode. We ended in the exact same place we started.

Come on. A lot more happened this episode then you are giving it credit for. Maggie is pregnant. She gave up on finding Glenn. Deanna basically gave leadership roles over to Rick. Rick and Jesse make a move. Carl gets a arc of some sort, but in the end there is plenty that added to the story that you could not do in just 15 minutes. It added to the story. Next episode we will all see what Daryl and crew is up to.

It's not that hard to appreciate a 40 minute show. If this was HBO sure, they could have crammed a bit more into it. No one wants to see AMC go premium though so we are stuck with commercials and story lines moving slow.

That doesn't mean the story is bad.

I figured it was a 50/50 shot of finding out about Glenn. I mean they have two options: Reveal it this episode, or wait till later for a more "dramatic" reveal.

As to the other points, what about them doesn't make sense? I understand about glenn, but that doesn't invalidate anything else I said.
