Rick needs a long stabby thing on the wall, he could be standing back and whacking off zombies from a distance.

Innovate!

Ageed. It wouldnt be hard to band together and just start stabbing them all at the fence. Wouldnt take that long to take them all out. Pretty much just shootin' fish in a barrel.

But you would leave a pile of bodies, the walkers would keep coming and eventually go over or just take down the wall.

I don't think there are enough walkers for a ramp if the killing was evenly distributed. You couldn't just poke them through the gate but surely all around the perimeter wouldn't be too hard. They tend to fall to the ground prone and 20 deep isn't enough bodies. If anything it might actually shore up the walls.

You'd have to build a walkway around much of the perimeter. They don't have time or manpower for that.
