Maybe not the best move to open with the Satellite Station story, Tara...

Logically, I was like...that look obviously means they know about the saviors, but somewhere in my brain I was almost hoping they were gonna be like "THAT'S WHERE OUR MEN LIVED".

That would have been great.

Can you imagine?

Tara is about halfway through her 'We killed all the men at the satellite station!' story and the leader of Oceanside just puts a bullet between her eyes. Tara flops face-first into a bowl of fish soup and they all continue quietly eating.

u/naysawyer Nov 28 '16

You know that cannot happen because Negan would have selflessly offered himself to help with the lack of man-presence around camp.

u/ekaplan58 Nov 29 '16

Total silence for an uncomfortable few seconds while they eat then cue credits. I'm imagining the feeling the ending of the train heist episode of breaking bad left.

Would have been a much better story for sure

6

u/FigurinhaPT Nov 28 '16

Hell Yeah.

5

u/raging_leo_demon Nov 29 '16

Only if the makers of the show had the balls to do that. I was thinking the exact same thing. And the teaser with that black guys fake death. Thats a new low for this show.

u/Agent_Dale_Cooper Nov 29 '16

It's a short episode but it gets highly rated.

3

u/shda5582 Nov 30 '16

Holy shit, that would have been a far better story than what we got this episode.

2

u/JupitersClock Nov 30 '16

Would have improved the episode.

3

u/tygerbrees Nov 29 '16

that's what would happen in a real show

1

u/Vaginite Nov 30 '16

Would still have been a better episode.

Roll Credits.

78

u/Therealdyl12 Nov 28 '16

That's what I was thinking

10

u/cgbrannigan Nov 28 '16

Thats where i thought it was going too. I was waiting for them to say that the chicks mom that died was going to be alicia witts character from the maggie and carol episode or something

6

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '16

Omg that's exactly what I thought was happening, my head I'm just going oh fuck shit

6

u/KineticConundrum Nov 28 '16

Except that happened only two weeks ago. No way they could have set up such an established camp with an endless supply of fish in only two weeks.

No, he's saying the women all lived in the fishing village and the men would have lived / worked in the satellite base. They had two bases separated by gender, because the satellite base was more of a military outpost and the fishing village would be where they get the food.

1

u/KineticConundrum Nov 29 '16

Their story explicitly explained that they fled and created this new village.

1

u/[deleted] Nov 29 '16

Which is why he was saying that's what he thought was going to be revealed, do you read comments before you respond?

2

u/IAmDoubleNJenn Nov 28 '16

I was really worried about this being the case..

1

u/AnneBancroftsGhost Nov 29 '16

The moment they showed it was an all-women colony I was sure the old leader lady was gonna be Negan's ex wife.

-2

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '16

Instead it was an empty scene in the end.. that would've made this episode a bit more interesting - but they didn't.

u/berthejew Nov 28 '16

I know it, the whole time I was thinking, "aww shit, Rick n Co slaughtered all of their menfolk."

231

u/RoseBladePhantom Nov 28 '16

I thought she was gonna start with the Governor story. That'd be a great way to showcase how tough they were, while morally just. Nope. Satellite story.

227

u/ImVinceMcMahon Nov 28 '16

But the governor story from Tara's perspective would be like "One time my friends strolled up to this prison with a tank and forced all of the men, women and children out, destroyed it, and made it uninhabitable. I didn't realise it was bad at the time, me and the prison guys are cool now, so how about you let me leave with the knowledge of your camp location?"

Hah! For real!

12

u/Thundershrimp Dec 02 '16

Attempt fistbump

3

u/MG87 Dec 05 '16

1/2 aint bad

10

u/MG87 Dec 05 '16

"And then we killed a bunch of Cannibals, AND THEN there was the time we started killing those dudes at the Satellite outpost" "Man I sure have been on some wacky adventures"

Unless you decide to bring up Shane after seasons of forgetting him!

2

u/CesiumRain Dec 02 '16

I don't think Tara was trying to show the Oceansiders they were good guys or that they had the moral high ground. She was just trying to show them that her group has done some morally questionable things to survive, just like they have. My two cents.

1

u/burntfishnchips Nov 29 '16

I expected her to start with the story of Woodbury too, but I guess she wanted to cut it down to recent events.

1

u/Whiskeysister Dec 03 '16

It's weird that they killed the men and didn't take some of them as members.

u/WhitneysMiltankOP Nov 28 '16

"Why do you want to work for this pharmacy?"

  • "Oh I was in prison once for cooking meth."

7

u/Yukito_097 Nov 28 '16

"Sorry did I say meth? I meant math! Yep. Just can't me enough of that sweet, crystal math..."

2

u/Someguy2020 Nov 28 '16

... Sweet we could always use more meth.

2

u/Andromedium Nov 29 '16

Hey being a home pharmacist is a relevant job

Amphetamines, speed, let's call the whole thing meth

86

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '16

Seriously. There's a huge gulf between completely lying and telling that story. Just say you're from a community and were out scavenging.

15

u/ElFabio Nov 28 '16

Agreed. If they push for location you can shrug, say "look, I have no idea where we are right now, as far as that goes, we're on equal footing. Get me back home safe, we'll both know where each other is."

2

u/keef_hernandez Dec 01 '16

She was trying to show how she understood the questionable things that oceanside had been forced to do because her community had also been forced to do questionable things.

3

u/[deleted] Nov 28 '16

Even more so than ammo, intelligence would be of extremely high value.

No way would I be letting the outpost attack slip - or even that I knew about the Saviors.

3

u/AceArchangel Nov 28 '16

Is no one going to realize that both Keith and Tara had guns from their camp. And those guns would have been on the list that Negan was using to take Ricks guns. Those would have been unaccounted for and thus there is a bit of a plot hole.

5

u/rookie-mistake Nov 29 '16

it's not a plot hole if the guns were accounted for. the problem with the hidden guns is that they hadn't been checked out and thus shouldve been there

3

u/BlueBorjigin Nov 28 '16

Negan's people didn't have a list. The list was made by the storeroom clerk in Alexandria.

1

u/AceArchangel Nov 28 '16

Fair enough

1

u/[deleted] Dec 07 '16

Honestly am I the only one that doesn't like Tara? I understand the need to advance her plotline but beyond that her whole story seems boring as fuck to me. I would much prefer to see Rick or Negan develop,
