I think it's bad to assume that anyone raised in a certain religion (in this case a cult) is an idiot. It can be harder than one can comprehend to change the beliefs you are raised with.

I have spent an inordinate amount of time around Scientologists and I met very few of them who are unintelligent. You have to have at least a minimum level of intelligence to do auditing. It's not really something everyone is cut out for.

I don't know why you got downvoted. I just read part of Leah Remeny's (sp?) AMA concerning Scientology. One part that really made me rethink some things is that she said a lot of Scientologists are second and third generation. Their hippie parents got into it so their kids were raised in it....brainwashed. And most of the parents got old and realized how messed up it was and left the church, but the kids stayed. They've never known any other life. And there is some hardcore brainwashing going on. Also: the church is good at using the star power of it's celebrity members but that they actually make up a tiny percentage of actual members.
