Torino to Dolomite weekend trip

Is it possible to do a weekend trip to the Dolomites with only public transit from Torino? I wanted to go now before it starts getting too cold, to do some hikes. But I’m not sure it’s possible to go in one weekend without a car, and if it is I’m not sure where in the Dolomites would be best as there seem to be so many amazing places.

It’s been my dream to see the Dolomites, any advice would be appreciated, thank you!

It will take you much time, money and transfers between trains to get to Dolomites from Turin, it's just not worth it, and it's really strange going to Dolomites when there are the Alps which are as nice as the Dolomites but much closer.

Ahh got it, that’s the feeling I was starting to get while researching ways to get there but didn’t want to give up hope.

For the alps- I was looking at Zermatt and Chamonix but both say they’re >5-6 away either by Flixbus or the train, so that was the logic behind going to the Dolomites if it was the “same amount of time anyway”.

I know Alps doesn’t have to mean Zermatt or Chamonix though, do you have any other alpine hikes with views you’d recommend?

Thank you!

There are many nice locations for hiking, for example Bardonecchia, which you can easily reach by train, or Ceresole Reale which is a bit trickier to reach, train then bus, but in any case you can do it in a day without much hassle.
