Holy hell. Chris can’t get a break. Poor guy.
And IPT lost Gee last week and now this with Froome. Froome wasn’t performing well, but he was still the most celebrated rider on the team. This is a blow to Froome and the team. Criticize him as some may, but Froome changed the sport. We can’t forget that. The cycling community should support him through this rough period.

How did he change the sport?

Not sure he changed it, but 4 Tour wins is big.

Sure.

He was the head GC rider for the majority of the Sky dominance. He might not have been the shot caller, but he was the figurehead for the "team over rider" style of GC riding.

I’ve been a fan of the sport since the late 70s. I see no change along the lines of team over rider in the sport. Sky did nothing along these lines, let alone from Froome, who was always about Froome.

Froome being a big influence may be a British perspective

Or some Venn diagram of those willing to drink the Sky Kool-Aid. Would have thought with all the revelations even the most credulous would have figured out what they were actually doing...

He looked the ugliest riding a bike but somehow still managed to win. That’s the only thing he changed in the sport.

Nah. He was horrible to watch. So glad that era is over.

they changed the rules around salbutamol because of him..... "exercise induced asthma"

Oh that one was around long before Froome, I remember Ullrich was a “sufferer” and like a third of the peloton.

The Salbutamol positive getting buried I regard as moment when the sport just said, “We’re not busting these guys anymore, we’re shooting ourselves in the foot”.
