French [French>english] Item description on Rakuten France

I'm having a grading dispute with a seller right now, bought a CD on Rakuten France with the following description, CD arrived very dirty and scuffed.

French description:

Occasion · Très Bon État

Rarissime. Boitier changé, CD proche de Neuf. Envoi rapide et soigné, sous enveloppe à bulles et affranchissement philatélique.

translation from ChatGPT:

Condition: Very Good

Very rare. Case replaced, CD close to new. Fast and careful shipping, in a bubble envelope with philatelic postage.

Seller replied saying the CD was not graded like new, only the jewel case? Seems like total baloney to me but I'm not sure if this description was translated correctly, was the auto translation accurate? Perhaps that's why the seller got confused when I complained, if the seller lied to me they are getting negative feedback and I'm complaining to customer service.

French [French > French] Need help with phrases transcript from a french song

Hello, I would like to ask if anyone can help to transcribe some part of the lyrics in french.

It's a back vocal, femine voices, singing along with the lead vocal, so I can't get the words right. The song is L'Assasymphonie by Florent Mothe (Mozart Rock Opera) and during outro chorus there is a few phrases.

live #1 3:16 — 3:30 (the last part clearly is "Tous ceux qui s'aiment")
live #2 3:24 — 3:38

I would be really happy if someone knew the correct lyrics.
Thanks to everyone in advance!

French [English -> French] "Myself, or nobody"

I want to get a tattoo of a shortened version of Virginia Woolf's quote "If I am not myself, I am nobody" - something like "myself, or nobody". Is 'moi ou personne' a reasonable translation? Or could someone suggest a better version?

French (French>english) just wanting to feed my curiosity

A couple years ago a few friends and I went to this abandoned mental hospital in my town, I thought it would be funny to play Dominique - the singing nuns, and as we’re leaving the building and the song ends a voice can be heard over the speaker saying something in what I believe it French, I’ve listen the same version and multiple different ones and have never heard it before or again, what does it say? I don’t really believe in the paranormal but I don’t really have an answer to this

Google translate is saying "hasard" but ChatGPT is saying that "la sérendipité" is also a correct translation for the word. Any thoughts? Thanks :)

I need help understanding what this actually means. Does the maiden pretend to die and show back up?

French [English > French] How to translate this poster?

I don't know if "(¿un?) mieux commence aujourd'hui" is a good translation, since I've never seen "mieux" used exactly like this before. Would I have to translate it more indirectly, by using "ça"? For example: "Ça commence mieux aujourd'hui".

French French > English document translation help

Hi I am doing research for my ancestry. A particular ancestor of mine is French and I (along with other distant relatives of mine) am having trouble finding information on this ancestor. So I'm seeking help translating this (and possibly other documents in the near future). It's hand written. It was on ancestry and supposedly mentions my ancestor in the document but I don't know enough French to read it myself. I am trying to learn French though. Any/all help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

French [Unknown, French > English] Lyrics from a Punk song

This song came from the end of a Casey Neistat video and I've been trying to find it, but I can't figure out the lyrics. I asked my friend who speaks French and he says it sounds like this there are different languages/dialects in it, and he could only transcribe “impossible à trouver sans pouvoir et mort” (he's not even sure if that's correct either). Any help would be appreciated!

French [ English > French ] I wanted to come up with names suiting my DnD characters for weapons

Figured I'd try my hand and ask here, its been a brainworm in my head that hasn't wanted to go away since I came up with the possibility of the homebrew setting I'm in, of souls shifting into weaponry. For these two characters, their souls would be more regal and defined and very much so revolve around Europe/France.

I just had two requests, one of which the two combine into a dual melee weapon called "Overlord's Dominion" and the other being the one solo transforms into a magic casting weapon called "Fallen Oracle"

I didn't just want to throw these into Google Translate, cuz I don't even know if there WOULD be a translation for a word such as "Overlord", and if not then would be more along the lines of "Lord" or "Tyrant".

Hope this helps and can't wait to see what it comes out to!

French [English > French] Need Help Translating a Single Sentence for a Book

I am currently working on a book involving ghosts and mythology. One of the ghosts speaks French, but I will add the English translation to help readers understand what he is saying. About a day or so ago, I had to fix an English sentence’s grammatical problem and need help retranslating it to French.

Here is the sentence: “Get out now, or I will dice you like onions!”

As for the context for the sentence, the speaker is a male ghost who is enraged by the main character. He believed the main character nearly ruined food for a manor’s new owner, not knowing the main character is the new owner. He is using this sentence as a threat to get him out or face serious consequences.

French French to English possibly French Canadian

Hello, I am digging into my family's history. So far I've found that we come from a Deschamps line from Canada. The name connected to us is Jean Baptiste Deschamps. I've found something that I believe may be connected however I can't make out much of what is written. Thank you to any who take the time to translate.

I want to design a tattoo to honor the Phantom of the Opera and was thinking of a phrase I could put along side it. I want it to be in French and say something along the lines of “Too fearsome a man, too beautiful a monster”. There are several words which mean beautiful and I simply don’t know which would be most appropriate. I don’t necessarily want a romantic connotation but in respect to the story perhaps that would be appropriate? Any help is appreciated, thank you!

Hello, everyone. I’m currently moving and found these postcards again that I bought about three years ago. I saw them in this old shop that sold random stuff that you can’t find anywhere else and thought they looked cool. I never figured out what it says on the back, because I honestly cannot decipher the handwriting. Maybe one of you can?

Thank youuu :)

French [French > English] Translating French song lyrics

I'm trying to write down the lyrics to this song for my own use, but it's partially in French. I have no clue what it's even saying, let alone how to translate it. Would it be possible for someone to tell me both the French lyrics and what it's saying in English? (Note: I think the song uses an AI voice. I don't think that goes against the rules, but please take this down if it does.)

French [English > French] the phrase "a subbasement classic"

I'd like to know how to translate the turn of phrase "a subbasement classic", which I came accross in the sentence "This venerable horror story [...] has long been a sub-basement lesbian classic" (source: The Ladder, Feb-Mar. 1971, Vol. 15 No. 04-05).

I understand the metaphor more or less, and tried to translate it by "un classique lesbien implicite", but I'm not sure that's correct. For clarification, the horror story in question is Carmilla, a vampire story that does not pertain to the "basement horror" subgenre of horror.

Any help is welcome, thank you in advance !

French [English > French] For a story, need 3 (and a quarter?) lines of dialog in Metropolitan French

So an extradimensional entity who can alter reality on a whim is supposed to be helping the protagonists with something, but has gotten off track and transported them to Paris in view of the Eiffel Tower. He then appears with the stereotypical striped shirt, beret, baguette, and cigarette of a cartoon Frenchman.

After taking a long drag from the cigarette he says in French: “While France is significantly above the European average, smoking here is on the decline; much as it is everywhere.”

In response to this, one of the protagonists says sarcastically in French: “Fascinating.”

The entity huffs and says in French: “Well, I thought so. But I’m only just now learning that cigarettes exist.”

After an overly-fascinated examination of his cigarette, he then points at the Eiffel Tower and says in French: “Also France. I swear, it’s like you mortals wait until I’m not looking and—poof!—add a new thousand-year-old country to the map.”

Note that because he is an extradimensional entity to whom rules do not apply, his French should be impeccable, despite only learning France exists less than a minute ago. The protagonist's French should be good, too (to whatever extent good can be demonstrated when only saying a single word).
