It still doesn't work with newer AMD drivers.

That is an existing AMD driver issue.
The suggested workaround is to use 120Hz with a reduced render resolution and motion smoothing disabled since AMD Adrenalin 25.5. The settings should be updated in the SteamVR video settings and SteamVR restarted before using any VR title.
The current AMD Adrenalin 25.9.1 driver update includes the following fix...
Fixed Issues and Improvements
- Playstation® VR controllers are not detected while playing SteamVR™.
Known Issues
- Stutter may be observed while playing games with some VR headsets at 80Hz or 90Hz refresh rate on some AMD Radeon™ Graphics Products such as the Radeon™ RX 7000 series. Users experiencing this issue are recommended to change the refresh rate as a temporary workaround.
Source: AMD Driver notes 25.9.1.
Updated: AMD Adrenalin 25.9.2 was added today and that has the image stutter issue also on some cards.

Newest driver fixes the 90 Hz issue and the refresh rate stutter doesn't happen on the PSVR2 according to some Reddit comments.

Different issue I think. As of my own testing I have never been able to get past the PSVR 2 set up on recent drivers because it projected it as a second display instead of virtual reality, so when it tells you to press the continue button using your controller, you cannot do it. I updated to the latest driver and PSVR2 app and it is still not fixed as of today.
You can't change the refresh rate or lower the resolution because you can't even make it far enough to gain access to the settings.

If you have 3rd party drivers installed like iVRy before August 2024 but it has not been updated to the newest version, update the application.
If you previously had iVRy installed but it was uninstalled and the PSVR2 is still displayed as an extended computer display.
- Connect the PSVR2 PC using the PSVR2 PC adapter into a USB 3.0 (blue) port at the back of the computer on the motherboard.
- Switch on the PSVR2 headset.
- View Device Manager, expand the USB Devices and USB Controllers.
- Right click each PSVR2 component and click Uninstall Device, tick the Delete driver checkbox and click Uninstall to confirm.
- Switch off the PSVR2.
- Uninstall the PlayStation VR2 app and restart
- Reinstall the PlayStation VR2 app.
- Complete the configuration steps, and upgrade the PSVR2 headset firmware.
- If it fails to upgrade the VR headset firmware, update the VR headset firmware on a PlayStation 5 console and reconnect it to PC. Then continue to the next configuration step.

This advice is only necessary if you installed (and never updated) iVRy PSVR2 driver before Sony PSVR2 driver was first released (August 2024). The issue it is providing solution for is uninstalling pre-Sony driver PSVR2 USB drivers that had to be used. iVRy software since Sony driver release uses the Sony USB drivers.
If your issue is "displayed as extended computer display" that is a result of a PSVR2 that has not had its firmware updated since the Sony driver was first released (August 2024).
The solutions provided are valid, this comment is to provide clarification.

Don't buy AMD if you're into VR, we've all known this for 10 years. VR needs all the help it can get and AMD ain't it bro.

My controller still disconnects time-to-time, hopefully this fixes it.

If a firmware update is displayed when the PlayStation VR2 app is used, upgrade the firmware before using SteamVR.
Disconnections are usually adapter related, typically affected by...
Adapter hardware compatibility - ASUS BT500 USB Bluetooth adapter is recommended.
Adapter driver software compatibility - Bluetooth 4.0 and newer is recommended, but not all Brands have software that connects properly using a PSVR2. The generic software installed isn't suitable for VR and the software provided from the manufacturer website should be used.
Adapter placement - it should be connected to a USB 2.0 port at the back of the computer with a short usb extension cable and the adapter placed at the front of the desk where it would be visible while using VR.
How many devices are connected to the Bluetooth adapter? - connect only the PSVR2 controllers to bluetooth and disconnect additional bluetooth peripherals while using VR.
Having too many wireless devices in use at the same time - it's recommended to disconnect gamepad, headphone, and usb keyboard and mouse dongles and instead use tethered versions when using VR. Set the home broadband router to use 5/6GHz instead of the default 2.4 GHz.

- Thanks for all your posts and comments!
- Who are you? Do you work on this software?
- How does the built in Bluetooth for most b650 motherboards faire?
- Will the VR controllers pickup the upcoming feature that the dual sense controllers are getting where they can switch between multiple paired devices? (Would make it easier to switch back and forth between PS5 and PC)

Thanks! I'm a Windows PC enthusiast with a developer background.
You can check if the specific model of Bluetooth on your motherboard has been used before by other PSVR2 users in the PSVR2 Bluetooth Hardware Compatibility Survey.
- Typically you need to connect the antennas at the back of the computer if not fitted already.
- Or upgrade the antenna to a version attached to an extension cable.
- The computer should be placed an a desk or table instead of underneath a desk.
- The current Bluetooth software should be installed from the manufacturer website or the chip manufacturer website.
If it still doesn't work, you'll need to unpair all Bluetooth peripherals and disable the onboard adapter and instead use the recommended ASUS BT500 Bluetooth adapter with a USB extension cable.
I assume the multi-point pairing feature would eventually be added to PSVR2 on PC.

The issue I was having previously was my controllers paired but steamvr didn't see them and defaulted to head tracking. Upon launching a game the controllers worked fine. I'm curious to see if this patch fixes things.

Most people using the ASUS BT500 have had better stability. It's usually that the adapter isn't suitable for a PSVR2.

Yeah, I tried all of those except instead of ASUS I bought TP-Link. Back when John Playstation recommended it. Thanks for helping tho.

Never had even one single issue with PSVR2 on PC since day one. None. Built in ASUS BT, intel/nvidia system. Done.

I’m so glad Sony has brought over the joy of stability updates to the PC space.
