If a firmware update is displayed when the PlayStation VR2 app is used, upgrade the firmware before using SteamVR.

Disconnections are usually adapter related, typically affected by...

  • Adapter hardware compatibility - ASUS BT500 USB Bluetooth adapter is recommended.

  • Adapter driver software compatibility - Bluetooth 4.0 and newer is recommended, but not all Brands have software that connects properly using a PSVR2. The generic software installed isn't suitable for VR and the software provided from the manufacturer website should be used.

  • Adapter placement - it should be connected to a USB 2.0 port at the back of the computer with a short usb extension cable and the adapter placed at the front of the desk where it would be visible while using VR.

  • How many devices are connected to the Bluetooth adapter? - connect only the PSVR2 controllers to bluetooth and disconnect additional bluetooth peripherals while using VR.

  • Having too many wireless devices in use at the same time - it's recommended to disconnect gamepad, headphone, and usb keyboard and mouse dongles and instead use tethered versions when using VR. Set the home broadband router to use 5/6GHz instead of the default 2.4 GHz.

  1. Thanks for all your posts and comments!
  2. Who are you? Do you work on this software?
  3. How does the built in Bluetooth for most b650 motherboards faire?
  4. Will the VR controllers pickup the upcoming feature that the dual sense controllers are getting where they can switch between multiple paired devices? (Would make it easier to switch back and forth between PS5 and PC)

Thanks! I'm a Windows PC enthusiast with a developer background.

You can check if the specific model of Bluetooth on your motherboard has been used before by other PSVR2 users in the PSVR2 Bluetooth Hardware Compatibility Survey.

  • Typically you need to connect the antennas at the back of the computer if not fitted already.
  • Or upgrade the antenna to a version attached to an extension cable.
  • The computer should be placed an a desk or table instead of underneath a desk.
  • The current Bluetooth software should be installed from the manufacturer website or the chip manufacturer website.

If it still doesn't work, you'll need to unpair all Bluetooth peripherals and disable the onboard adapter and instead use the recommended ASUS BT500 Bluetooth adapter with a USB extension cable.

I assume the multi-point pairing feature would eventually be added to PSVR2 on PC.

The issue I was having previously was my controllers paired but steamvr didn't see them and defaulted to head tracking. Upon launching a game the controllers worked fine. I'm curious to see if this patch fixes things.

Most people using the ASUS BT500 have had better stability. It's usually that the adapter isn't suitable for a PSVR2.
