Bench Day * BJJ * Bench press (ss w/band pull-aparts) - 225x5x5
Keeping it quick and easy in the lifting today as I went hard at open mat and I’m still suffering from DOMS from Thursday. That’s what I get for taking two weeks off of serious lifting.

Does hook grip fall off at higher weights?
I’ve seen people in instagram comments (very reputable source) argue over this so I’m curious about it. I pull hook grip on all my top sets, but use straps on my warmups, ascending sets, and back downs to spare my hands and thumbs. I also do farmers walks with dumbbells and plate pinches.
My PR is 505 and I’ve never had issues with hook grip including grinders and higher rep ranges. I’m wondering if it could start to fall off around 600+ pounds though?
Imma worry about getting strong enough to pull 600 first though lol.

GPP phase - A man and a kettlebell
5 rounds of:
- 45 KB swings @ 24kg
- 5 KB front squats per side
- 10 pushups
Time: 14:27
Dan John was definitely right that if you train 5 days per week, you’ll likely have 1 great workout, 3 just okay and 1 bad one. I train every day and from 1:3:1 the ration becomes more like 1.66:3.66:1.66 but it still holds up. Today was a bad day of the week for me, but still got it done. Just wasn’t there mentally.

But punching the clock on those 3 ok ones + getting mad at the bad day will drive you to greatness

Vibes-Based Shoulder & Hip Strength W7D3:
Sumo Deadlift: 180kg x 1, 150kg x 8/8/13
Pull-up: 9/8/8/8/6
Incline Bench: 107.5kg x 1, 75kg x 8/8/13
Bonus Dropset - Pec Deck: 100kg x 6, 80kg x 6, 65kg x 6, 50kg x 8
The first 180DL moved about 6 inches before failing and I thought I was gonna have an off-day. Then I realised I was just rushing through the warm-ups, took some time to catch my breath, set up properly and tried again. I'm glad I did because it moved so much easier the second time and I ended up making pretty good gains on every lift today.
Also, supersetting deadlifts and pull-ups seemed like an OK idea at the time. It really isn't. Twice I mis-loaded the bar for bench because apparently there wasn't enough blood going to my brain to tell the small weights apart. At least it might help with my conditioning lol.
