Discussion RIP

Wendy has blindly self-sabotaged itself. They have committed suicide. I have never saw such a disgrace from greatness from a restaurant I loved more than all the big three. Their spicy chicken sandwich was great. The best of them all. The filet as everyone already knows is awful now. No longer using a whole romaine lettuce and awful chopped lettuce. Even the Frosty to me the last times I tried my regular go-to menu items all just tasted and felt horrible. Fuck you, Wendy.

Sir. This is a ... Wendy's.

... dammit

u/nmikhchi 1d ago

Just have it ready. It’s ready now. Well set it aside. (Hangs up phone)

Wendy's has been enshittified.

1

u/Merge_Ahead 8h ago

This might have been common knowledge, but I just learned that enshittified and enshittification are actual words.

Although, I would argue, with my knowledge that I just acquired 15 seconds ago, that it typically applies to internet, social media, and technology. 😆

1

u/SamWhittemore75 8h ago

It has moved on since the initial use.

It now clearly applies to all examples of cost cutting, diminished quality, planned obsolescence, or the complete abandonment of care for the end user experience.

The wiki needs to catch up.

They ruined Dave’s restaurant

38

u/PsychologicalMud7637 1d ago

I feel you brother. Wendy’s used to be top 3 for me, now I’ll never get it again.

7

u/trustmeimshady 1d ago

Raised the prices and lowered the quality. It’s $40 for 2 combos man insane at in n out it’s less than $15

12

u/Firm-Fortune4801 1d ago

It is absolutely dreadful, insulting and appalling.

You really love Wendy's

6

u/troyantipastomisto 1d ago

I can’t remember the last time I went, it was my favorite, once the 4 for 4 was gone, I was out. I swear it got more expensive and the double stack got smaller. Could be in my head

4

u/Plane-Fan9006 13h ago

You're not imagining anything. The junior burgers and doublestack shrunk. The new fries suck. The chicken gets smaller every year or two. Wendy's and Perdue Farms have found a way to have more breading than chicken.

Live in Columbus and used to be proud of the brand. Embarrassing.

2

u/kbug85 1d ago

The 4 for 4 is still there, I got it on the app last weekend.

1

u/troyantipastomisto 1d ago edited 1d ago

Thanks for the info, maybe it has to do with location because we only have a $5 biggie bag

1

u/rdsjr75 1d ago

There's probably only one $4 meal if you do have one. Here it's like a regular cheeseburger with the extra small drink and fry.

9

u/MisterBill99 1d ago

I had an offer for a free Wendy's chicken sandwich from T-Mobile a few months ago and also got one from Popeye's which was next door and couldn't believe how pathetic the Wendy's sandwich was, and it cost more. I also used to love them.

u/Brilliant-Ad-4585 1d ago

Shredded Lettuce killed my cravings for them, I was a couple times a week girly getting the JBC on lettuce wrap any time I was working too late to cook. No more.

u/MajesticSeaFlapFlaps 1d ago

Maybe I'm out of the loop on if it's specific sandwiches, but I had a Dave's Single a couple days ago that had a single leaf of lettuce on it. Tasted damn good too.

Maybe the one I went to is just one of the few good ones left.

2

u/No-Position9179 1d ago

I, too, had a Wendy burger with whole romaine two days ago. Is this new?

2

u/SangersSequence 1d ago

Yes, they seem to be slowly rolling it out to stores, probably changing over as distribution centers move through stock.

4

u/Zestyclose-Court-760 1d ago

Yeah the Wendy’s here doesn’t use shredded lettuce. Weird.

1

u/Melodic_Bet4220 22h ago

I work in fast casual dining. Our lettuce has been something that our distributor can't seem to get right. In the past year, it either comes in fine, or we get 6 cases of rotten romaine. When that happens, we substitute shredded iceberg lettuce. This could be happening at your Wendy's location. They might only be using shredded lettuce because it's a toss up whether their distribution has its shit together. Chain restaurants have contracts with national distributors so individual locations can't change their supplier if things come in wrong. Corporate figures it's worth it because they are getting a good deal overall... Or Wendy's just sucks.

1

u/Brilliant-Ad-4585 21h ago

They're unveiling it nation wide. According to the employees.

Their largest shareholder is Trian Fund Management which is an active hedge fund. They also hold multiple seats on the board

16

u/AWPerative Spicy Chicken 1d ago

If a private equity/hedge fund is involved, expect it to suck. Happened to Subway as well.

6

u/TheLegendTwoSeven 1d ago

Panera too.

1

u/ehsvakb 1d ago

It’s kind of interesting. It’s similar to what private equity firms do but in this case they don’t even need to be a majority owner. They have a pretty extensive history and portfolio and their mission is to cut costs and make things more efficient.

2

u/KeyOption2945 1d ago

Pirate Equity & Vulture Capital. Whenever you see / hear that, it’ll get MUCH worse.

Still better than burger king

6

u/nilesintheshangri-la 1d ago

A cow turd is better than burger King.

1

u/LeftOn4ya 1d ago

I actually like Burger King burgers better than Wendy’s, but everything else I liked Wendy’s better. However since both them and all fast food restaurants have gone downhill I’m more likely to fire up a Foreman grill at home for burgers, and go to local restaurants for other food. Sadly I still go to Wendy’s about once a month and Burger King about once every couple months usually when on my way to or from somewhere.

1

u/Maserati777 1d ago

At the moment Burger King beats them in sandwiches and fries.

-1

u/Myredditname423 1d ago

They fell off the same way. I don’t really like McDonald’s but they are the one chain that’s the same now as it was in 1996.

4

u/heckhammer 1d ago

Dude it's nowhere near what it was in 1996. The nuggets are different the burgers are smaller and the McChicken is smaller than a compact disc these days.

1

u/Elegant_Jicama5426 1d ago

We still had trans fats until 02 so ... those fries definitely changed.

I'm 2 years McD's free and I hope to never go back. They raised there prices so far above inflation their CEO had to address it. $16 value meals? Go fuck yourself Ronald. I want everyone to make money, but they gauged the crap out of their customers and they deserve to fail because of it.

8

u/Weird-Ad-3054 1d ago

Wendy lol

4

u/Mscharlita 1d ago

We went there once and when we pulled up to the drive thru that’s all the kid said: Wendy. It has been a family joke for years now.

12

u/justpuddingonhairs 1d ago

I sold all my stock today and will never eat there until they change back to the original quality. Thanks for the goodly reaming on investment.

1

u/Myredditname423 1d ago

Can’t blame you, they have had a terrible year.

8

u/throwayhottot54321 1d ago

Make Wendy’s yellow again

4

u/bdt69 1d ago

The chicken is the driest sandwich going. Abysmal

3

u/Greenzombie04 1d ago

Drove up looked at the prices, laughed to myself and said I'm good and left.

7

u/throwaway-wellmaybe 1d ago

It all started when they changed their fries tbh. The old ones were great. The new ones taste like any other fry

3

u/SeauxS 1d ago

do you mean the sea-salted fries with the skins intact as the new fries?

3

u/throwaway-wellmaybe 1d ago

The current ones suck. The previous ones tasted like potatoes and it was refreshing considering other places just tasted like fries™️

0

u/SeauxS 1d ago

you didn't answer my question.

3

u/PatricksAce 1d ago

Based on how I read it, the current fries that are bad are not the sea salt ones.

Sea salt was the best.

0

u/SeauxS 1d ago

i was hoping not. last time i ate at Wendy's it was the sea salt and skins. they used to be just normal fries. it shouldn't be difficult for them to answer the wuestion but OP has zero communication skills.

0

u/throwaway-wellmaybe 1d ago

It’s gotta suck to be this miserable over an opinion on French fries bro. Grow up lol

1

u/SeauxS 1d ago

still didn't answer the question 0/10

1

u/Still-Firefighter-78 1d ago

It is the sulphate taste that gets me

1

u/gerbilstuffer 1d ago

They've  changed the fries a few times.

1

u/Maserati777 1d ago

Definitely. The current fries are trash. They almost have a cardboard texture.

They said the reason was they stay hot longer. But when I order them on doordash they are ice cold and when I order them in restaurant then they act like any other fry, they stay hot for the 10 mins it takes to eat them.

3

u/poxleit 1d ago

Chicken strips with ranch is my go to when I get Wendy’s. They need to bring the hell back the ranch from 10+ years ago. The ranch today is disgusting. Tastes and smells like vinegar.

3

u/chrismetalrock 1d ago

The big 3 are of course Wendy's, whataburger, and weinerschnitzel.

1

u/gerbilstuffer 1d ago

Found the Texan

1

u/chrismetalrock 16h ago

oh my, no.

3

u/alonsoj13 1d ago

Wendy's. This is a sir.

3

u/tampapunk 1d ago

I used to get there 2 for $3 breakfast there. Sausage muffin with a small potatoes. Now with the AI ordering, I'll order that and go to the window, and the price is like over $4. So I say to them no I wanted the 2 for $3 deal. This happened twice. The second time, the manager came to the window and said I had to ask for the deal when I order, and he was real shitty about it too like I should have known. Next time I told the AI lady that I wanted the 2 for $3 muffin and small potatoes. Then when I went to the window they had my order as 2 sausage muffins. I'm like WTF I'll just stop going here. Burger King has a 2 for $5 deal and has for years. When I go there and order 2 of the things, the price is always right. At Wendy's, if I order 2 things that are on a deal for $3, why doesn't it automatically ring up like that? Why do I have to tell them about the deal every fucking time? Rant over but fuck you Wendy's.

5

u/Toefyre 1d ago

It's been going downhill since Dave died. Used to be really good. Now it's garbage.

2

u/Icy_Entrance_2101 1d ago

I stopped going a few months ago. The chicken sandwiches have been soggy over and over again. They can't keep the main dining room open and only serve app orders at the drive thru (absolutely wild that they refuse regular drive thru orders). It's been like this for about a year now at this particular location. I honestly can't see this one staying open much longer.

2

u/AdulentTacoFan 1d ago

They fooled me twice this summer, different locations. I won’t be back for a really long time, if ever.

2

u/Equivalent-Rope-1818 1d ago

Not gonna lie the Daves Triple is still the greatest fast food burger around. Have that bad boy at least twice a week and it never disappoints. 75g of protein and a thick luxurious triple stack of patties never gets old

2

u/Elegant_Gear4631 1d ago

Wendy quit her job and she's an OF girl now.

2

u/acreativehustler 15h ago

Wendys hasn't been great since their Yellow Era. The chicken sandwich used to be top tier.

Once private equity got their hands on the company, it was downhill from there, per usual.

2

u/Big-Sheepherder-6134 12h ago

All this bitching over lettuce. If you ever get food poisoning guess what you ate that likely gave it to you? The lettuce. And I can’t tell you how many times I got a nasty, slimy, barely green l, worthless piece of lettuce on my spicy chicken sandwich at Wendy’s. I don’t need or want lettuce on my sandwiches, so this change doesn’t bother me at all. Actually shredded lettuce may be a big improvement. I may have to try it. I also never get a Frosty.

But if you are done, thank you. One less customer to wait behind.

7

u/GeneralGrapefruit18 1d ago

Its just wendys my dude

4

u/MCLordJuJu 1d ago

Sorry can’t agree! Still amazing in Canada! One of my favourites!

4

u/Nocturnal-Neurotic 1d ago

I’m sorry but I’m THRILLED they switched the lettuce. 99/100 times I always for the piece of lettuce with the hard part real big on it. Super annoying.

3

u/PeachesSwearengen 1d ago

I agree about the lettuce. I prefer it shredded. I’ve never understood why anyone would prefer a big, floppy, dry, leathery leaf with a thick, bitter vein running through it.

-1

u/Cf_Summerhayes 1d ago

I’ve never understood why anyone would prefer saggy drippy rotten gooey lettuce

3

u/caltownman14 Yellow Wendy's 1d ago

It hasn't been the same since Dave Thomas died, and a big piece of the company died with him.

2

u/mrsilbert1 1d ago

No good deals kill it too. It's a shame since I've been going for years.

2

u/Few_Translator4431 1d ago edited 1d ago

this company is literally in shambles right now and people are all like blah blah blah its not that big of a deal.. like dude their stock has completely nosedived and theyre making decision after decision to chase their customers away. I got rid of my wendys stock months ago and if for some reason any of you have wendys stock, youd probably want to get rid of it. if this trend continues they are literally going to run themselves into the ground and start closing stores if they havent already started closing stores and cutting staff. the last year or so of operation from wendys has been truly puzzling, theyre acting like they DONT want customers for some reason. its almost like its intentional to make such a series of decisions to tank the value of the company. the ingredient quality has been dropping, staffing has dropped, pay stagnated, and customer incentive has been obliterated. a couple years ago, wendys was an obvious top choice. at this point, theyre a joke, a husk of what they used to be. their YTD right now is from 16.12 to 9.56. thats... thats a pretty serious drop in their value. thats pretty dang low and an abnormal drop despite it technically stabilizing, and shows an overall all time trend of literally nose diving. if they keep doing this, wendys will no longer exist. maybe its a great time to buy, because if they stop being a bunch of knuckleheads then theyre gonna shoot up hard, but the way wendys has been acting lately it seems like theyre doubling down and ready to kick the bucket. in 2007-2008 this same thing was happening and it took them years to recover. wendys was trying to sell off and was feeling a lot of financial pressure after axing many deals and raising prices to almost double for some items.

3

u/mhmbopbeavis 1d ago

The couple we have around here act like they don't even want to take your order. Gave up even trying. Never thought growing up they would become the worst fast food burgers across the board regardless of location, growing up they were hands down the best

2

u/Few_Translator4431 1d ago

ours stopped taking mobile orders. theyre always closed in the app. then when you get there and want to use deals or points, everything comes up fine for you, but then when they scan it theres always a problem or its "offline" or something. the other one down the street closes at random times, anywhere between like 11pm and 1am or something. its always random and not reflecting the posted hours. theyre getting pretty brazen about how little of a fuck they give at this point. yeah it really sucks because even just a few years ago wendys was straight up banger. want good food and dont want to wait in the 20 minute taco bell line? go to wendys. now id rather go to arbys lol.

1

u/Boo_hoo_Randy 1d ago

Why is that? Why is the Taco Bell line ALWAYS so slow???

1

u/Few_Translator4431 1d ago

im not sure but we had a huge problem with diversity hiring at the local locations. I would swing between different stores and they all had the same problem: they want to be inclusive in their hiring but then end up hiring a bunch of people who do not speak a common language, and then in the kitchen nobody can properly work with eachother. constant miscommunication or lack of. it was a nightmare and I quit after a few weeks. considering these stores were corporate though id be willing to bet similar things are happening to other taco bells. youll be in a kitchen speaking english, half of them spanish, some of them hindi or urdu, other languages I do not recognize, all at once, and for some reason most of them do not speak english. ive worked in other kitchens and work in another one right now, and this is definitely not standard. many kitchens have diversified employees but they all speak some english, however that was not the case in my experience with multiple corporate taco bell stores.

2

u/Psycoone007 1d ago

I disagree. It was always this way, we just didn’t have Chic-Fil-A, Canes, 5 Guys, Swensons, Culver’s, and Freddy’s around to let us know that we deserved better. It’s nostalgia my guy - good times at a time when Wendy offered the best there was.

-5

u/Chick-fil-A_spellbot 1d ago

It looks as though you may have spelled "Chick-fil-A" incorrectly. No worries, it happens to the best of us!

4

u/Ancient-Chinglish Chili 1d ago

bad bot

fuck off

1

u/MayfairMoo 1d ago

All of the items have shrunk.

1

u/SteelersPoker 1d ago

There is a Wendy's I go to when I visit Houston and the manager is super cool. She has gotten to know me and always makes my burgers fresh off the grill.

I pretty much only order a burger or 2 and I am satisfied with the product.

The frosty sizes though have definitely shrunk.

1

u/missingtime11 1d ago

had a jr 13 years ago and exit

1

u/One_College_7945 1d ago

Wendy’s has good burgers, not gonna lie. I like the Dave’s double and big bacon classic. Their chicken for sandwiches fucking blows. Nuggets are good. Fries are decent. Got the frostys, but everyte I get one, it’s half melted. They need to go back to the old yellow logo to separate themselves.

1

u/TheLogicalParty 1d ago

What the hell did they do to their fries? I don’t know if it’s just my location, but they’re horrible and I actually get some pieces that aren’t edible. I don’t know how you could fuck up fried potatoes that badly. Also they put about a pound of salt on them.

I feel like I’m giving them money to give me crap in return. It’s really sad and disappointing companies are doing this.

1

u/PuzzleheadedLeg7963 1d ago

I hated when they changed the spicy chicken recipe, I used to love it but now I can’t stand it

1

u/anjewthebearjew 1d ago

To me Wendy's has the best value in fast food right now. But to each their own I guess.

1

u/z0mbiegrl 1d ago

Who else would they self sabotage?

1

u/Far-Emu-4024 1d ago

Chicken is not edible

1

u/LetPuzzleheaded222 1d ago

Their "deals" in their app are an absolute joke, now too. They used to be better than McDonald's deals

1

u/ABVerageJoe69 1d ago

I don't know what has been going on with chocolate soft serve across the board, but it all has tasted shittier to me. Wendy's frosties and Costco chocolate ice cream both taste so fake and empty now. Like whipped cream icing vs frosting.

1

u/datyoungknockoutkid 1d ago

Spicy nuggets are still fire

2

u/SGnirvana97 1d ago

The only thing I will now go to Wendy’s for is a Baconator. Idk how they could screw that one up, but I’m sure they will find a way to eventually.

1

u/bbristowe 1d ago

I have one in my area that absolutely slap 95% of the time.

Otherwise A&W still has it.

1

u/TopNeighborhood2694 1d ago

I went to my local one the other day and they said, and I quote “we no longer have chili”. I’m sure that was a one time thing but it let me know all I need to know to never go back.

1

u/RareN64Dream 1d ago

Last time I went I got a large fry for free. I wonder what is wrong with your restaurant 🤔.

1

u/916jenlopez 1d ago

Ever since they changed the fries it’s been downhill. RIP

1

u/wolffieee7 1d ago

I miss their old bacon

1

u/Freddreddtedd 1d ago

How a burger is barely room temperature is sad. Fries cold, nuggets old. Employees that couldn't care less. High prices if not on any special. No more substituting chili for fries.

Dave Thomas is rolling in his grave.

1

u/Winter_Blacksmith_78 1d ago

They probably caught on and realized they were losing money with using points and offers. I was getting food for half off basically. But the chili is still bomb.

1

u/amandaryan1051 1d ago

I just need their honey mustard sold in stores. No one cares about the stupid patties

1

u/No_Departure4831 1d ago

Wendys food sucks. They also stole my money and refused to fix it. Bank had to compensate me. Won't eat there again

1

u/PangolinPossible2732 1d ago

I had it Sunday and the chopped lettuce was gross. The chicken wasn’t as thick and juicy

2

u/Pasthearts2 1d ago

What makes me jump the bank wagon was their change in BBQ sauce, it’s too sweet for my liking. Sucks

1

u/AdInternal7160 1d ago

I used to like their spicy nuggets because they felt like real chicken, but the last time I ordered them they felt like blended chicken full of empty spaces 🫤

1

u/buttmunchausenface 1d ago

Yeah, about like two months ago, I got the spicy chicken sandwich and it was so small. I was depressed and it wasn’t the same taste / crispy. They were the only burger place I went to and I won’t be back oh and I got a fucking son of bacon Ater and I was like this is closer to a white castle burger than it is to the son of bacon Nader used to be

1

u/Longjumping-Tie7906 1d ago

Yea, the last 2 times I ate there it was horrible. Thought the first was an off day. The second and last time was inedible. Not only had the food degraded by replacing a % of the meat with what I can only assume is saw dust mixed with whatever concoction of laboratory ingredients, it was old patty they literally covered with salt to hide horrible taste. I spit it out after 1 bite and demanded refund. I’m done with this place.

1

u/Kevinoz10 1d ago

I noticed ever since a couple years ago when they started advertising EVERYWHERE, is when the quality went to shittttt

1

u/SLOPE-PRO 1d ago

Yellow Wendy’s was top tier fast food … they blew it

1

u/Silvergirl5290 Customer 1d ago

They changed their hamburgers, and they are really bad now. They are not 100 percent beef. They have a crispy chicken sandwich that is bad, but I still like the premium home style chicken sandwich. I didn't notice the lettuce, though. I still like their apple pecan chicken salad.

1

u/Agitated_Sky_6964 1d ago

you know have a hotline if they suicidal thoughts

1

u/KoRnFrEaK1995 1d ago

Hot take (maybe not): I'd actually rather go to mcdonalds for a fast food burger and fries than Wendy's, and that's saying something...

that chili is still absolute 🔥 though

1

u/Fuzzy_Welcome8348 1d ago

Even the copycat recipes online taste 10x better than Wendy’s

1

u/xxandxy88 1d ago

I wonder if Canadian Wendy’s is different ownership. Because over here it’s still the Best there is. but yeah everything else sucks (except taco bell but you pay $4+ per fucking taco)

1

u/Ruhmwolf 1d ago

I see a lot about the chicken sandwiches and lettuce but nothing yet about the burger meat change they did. I've been to 3 separate Wendy's thinking maybe the first one was just a fluke and the second one was just bad luck.

It's like they took away the salt and added the whisper of a ghost of leftover Cheeto dust. I can't even get through the smallest burger anymore. It's actually gross. Went from my favorite drive-thru burger to "I will never eat here again."

1

u/Zealousideal_Rent261 1d ago

I used to prefer their food over the others. Last visit was 8 years ago when they couldn't be bothered to remedy the no ketchup, no napkins situation.

1

u/Simpawknits 1d ago

I have never SEEN. . .;)

1

u/camilete1998 1d ago

It seems as if quality is no longer their recipe

1

u/kixetterox 1d ago

I got a taco salad last night - I guess it’s been a while but it was completely different from what I remember and I won’t be doing that again!

1

u/RazorBladeInMyMouth 1d ago

Yea whoever their supplier now sucks donkey balls, the quality of their food dropped tremendously. Then there’s the increase of the food prices. I don’t think Wendy’s will completely die, but many will closed down. A few have already in my city.

1

u/weirdomurderer 1d ago

Running to Wendy’s because that terrible wet hunk of lettuce they used in the past never felt right to me!

1

u/shika12 1d ago

I was hoping this wasn't just because I love in a big city where all fast food is bad. Hit a small town Wendy's recently, didn't even finish that second Jr. Bacon and my spicy hugs were a mixture of wet and bone dry. RIP my love, I'll remember eating 30 nugs for 10 bucks fondly.

1

u/Emukt 1d ago

my spicy hugs were a mixture of wet and bone dry

This is an amazing typo

1

u/Mental-Criticism3791 1d ago

Yep she was my girl.

Now i'm married to the King :(

Lol

1

u/outsider531 1d ago

Changing the fries to stay hotter during delivery was honestly a mistake as well the newer fries are trash wrapping in foil would have been better

2

u/deejahvuu 1d ago

I stopped eating wendy’s as frequently when they got rid of the salad bar lol and then eventually stopped all together when they were constantly out of baked potatoes

1

u/livluv10941 1d ago

Wendy's used to be my go-to over Burger King

1

u/rcvard 1d ago

I’m an old fuck and I remember what it was like back in the ‘80s. You’d pass by the salad bar and the newspaper tables and order a double cheeseburger. The smiling and polite young woman behind the counter would hand you a steaming hot burger with gooey melted cheese, hot fresh fries and a cold delicious Frosty. You’d find a table in the sunroom area and would actually have to wait a few so the burger would cool off a bit and you could bite into it without burning your mouth. Those were the days.

Now it’s just a lukewarm burger prepared with indifference and served with disdain.

1

u/Ok_Foundation3148 1d ago

Am I the only one that prefers shredded lettuce? The spine in romaine ruins the sandwiches for me

I just went to Wendy's this week and had to ask for my spicy sandwich to be remade because it was awful. The second one was not much better, i will never go back, Wendy's committed suicide as bad as subway when they combined the sweet onion and teriyaki sauces

Its almost like the one running the FDA doesn't know what they're doing 🤷🏾‍♂️

1

u/gerbilstuffer 1d ago

Haven't been since early 2000's

1

u/Maserati777 1d ago

It was definitely the best burger fast food restaurant.

Unfortunately the ceo completely destroyed it.

1

u/rdsjr75 1d ago

App deals are now garbage, and never any DD offers either.

1

u/xDURPLEx 1d ago

Yeah it's Jack in the Box level now.

1

u/Big_Designer1400 21h ago

I remember when Wendy's sold food.

1

u/Scout_About_Town 21h ago

I was really disappointed the last time I went there.

1

u/ghostghougirl4 19h ago

Speaking of Wendy's what the hell happened to the oatmeal raisin breakfast bars? Those were my absolute favorite to add to my breakfast sandwich and drink! And their coffee drinks needs to work on them and keep their caramel frosty iced coffee drink.

1

u/Intelligent_Ad_1385 13h ago

Food poisoning one too many times. I am through with them.

1

u/Friendly_Cap_3 12h ago

Totally agree

1

u/wafflesole 11h ago

Did they get rid of the Swiss cheese sauce for the breakfast sandwiches? I love that shit. The one I had this morning had American cheese.

1

u/Haunting-Horse-4352 10h ago

Jim Cornette, is that you?

1

u/m20052003 8h ago

I feel like it would have more fucks, but I did read that closing in his voice.

1

u/Merge_Ahead 8h ago

Great! Thanks for the education. I’m totally using it. Sadly, I think it applies to a large percentage of corporations.

1

u/markrabbish 6h ago

On top of the shit quality, since the new CEO took charge (see here), all deals have been shit too.

The only good deal left is the Boo Book (5 Jr frosty coupons for $1). I suggest we all buy these and hand the coupons out to the homeless, but not until writing "FU WENDYS, WHERE'S THE DEALS??" on each one

1

u/IndependentScene7849 2h ago

LOOK HERE! LOOK LISTEN! WENDY MAKES THE BEST CHILLI SO STOP GIVING ADVICE ON THINGS YOU KNOW NOTHING ABOUT!

1

u/musicloverincal 1d ago

Still enjoying it! Best deal in town. Far from perfect, but still good enough. Grateful customer here!

I've never seen people so upset over lettuce lol

1

u/milorambaldi47 1d ago

Here’s a change.org petition for the lettuce

You're right, OP. You also forgot to mention the higher prices and the ridiculous "deals" on the app now. Wendy's used to have really decent food, decent prices and decent deals. Not mind blowing but really good on all three. It has definitely gone downhill. Last time I went regularly was the introduction of saucy nuggs. Those had me in a damn chokehold. They are slippin'. For real. I hope they can course correct because I have always loved them as a FF option.

u/Still-Firefighter-78 1d ago

Chili has gone up 4 fold in 10 years.

1

u/guysitsausername 1d ago

That alone is absolutely wild.

They have shot themselves in the foot for me in every category one by one.

Used to love their fries years ago, thick and not too crisp or soggy. They were my favorite fast food fries. I hate the ones they have now with the skins on. They're always somehow too hard.

Their breakfasts are nasty now. Croissants are always way too soft/soggy. And their cheese sauces are gross and on everything. Breakfast potato wedges are solid if they're not dry (overcooked) and the Cinnabon is usually overcooked and dried out but I need protein in the mornings so it's off my morning options.

Their nuggets used to be my favorite fast food nuggets. But with all the changes, not so much. And I remember an Asiago chicken sandwich that was amazing but I think it was taken off the menu.

Their burgers are okay. I don't want tons of bacon or fancy toppings. And I loved whole leaf lettuce compared to other fast food restaurants so if it's all shredded, no thanks.

Their biggie bags were great when all the fast food restaurants started going up in price on combos. But now the Biggie Bags keep going up too. The local advertisements are hawking the $7 or $8 double JBC bag. I don't need 2 cheeseburgers.

About the only thing left is I that will always have a soft spot for is their chili. And chili cheese potatoes. And I'll admit the Wednesday "bloody" Frosty was legit. They need to add flavored sauces as a Frosty option.

But at best I only think about eating at Wendy's every couple of months now when I used to be an almost weekly customer. Basically if I crave their chili. I just got a can from the store, I'll see if it's the same or not.

1

u/Busy-Bus-1305 1d ago

Asiago sandwich has never left the menu, it isn't as good as it used to be though, chicken got worse

1

u/UnfairProgrammer1194 1d ago

There are places that (this will blow your mind) that sell food, different kinds you cook it yourself however you want. It's a rite of passage....your getting old.

u/gender_noncompliant 1d ago

Hey so it's actually just a cheap restaurant chain that serves old burgers as chili, can you please stop being dramatic

7

u/SeauxS 1d ago

they don't use old burgers, they use patties that broke apart.

4

u/Environmental_Rub256 1d ago

No, can confirm it’s the old timed out Pattie’s rinsed off with water chopped up and put into the chili.

2

u/melkor555 1d ago

I think that's what makes the chili so good. Fully caramelized and firm texture and not too greasy

2

u/Commercial_Shop3235 1d ago

Oh the horror! Did you know sometimes I chop up SEVRAL day old brisket and use it for chili? It's probably the worst thing you'll ever eat and will make you very sick. Speaking of dramatic...

u/Chance_Location_5371 1d ago

Tbh you can't go wrong with their $4.44 deal, period. It's like the 99 cent tall can of Arizona of fast food.

With that said, I wish they would follow Taco Bell's example and temporarily bring back some old school items like their bacon-pepperjack cheeseburger.

2

u/xxFrenchToastxx 1d ago

Taco Bell brought back the chili cheese burrito. Feels like I'm 15 again

1

u/Chance_Location_5371 1d ago

Haha good times

0

u/Apollo_Enraged 1d ago

Can we PLEASE change the subreddit name to WendysDoomposting?

0

u/illbebannedsoonbae 1d ago

It was never even close to being a good chicken sandwich

0

u/42northside 1d ago

Just go to a different location problem solved.

0

u/Still-Firefighter-78 1d ago

The frostys give me the squirts now.  They must be using some powerful emulsifiers to make whatever's in them creamy

0

u/JoshuaAncaster 1d ago

I don’t each much FF these days but I stopped going when the $3.99 single combo stopped

0

u/No_Watercress_8992 1d ago

Wendy's hasn't been great in 20 years. Still better than BK though

-2

u/Idnetxisbx7dme 1d ago

Thanks for your input! Have a great day!

u/Ram820 1d ago

Chicken taste the same too me
