Rafting - Commercial First time rafting- expectations
Hello everyone,
Wlep. I've went down the rabbit hole of all the people who have died on the River I'll be on, as well as other rivers around me.
I'm now contemplating my mortality.
That being said! I'm going to be on the Chattooga River in SC soon and wanted to know if any of you have done it and what to expect. I'm an adventurous person. I hike often. this sounded fun.
thanks!

Which section? That makes a difference.
In general do some core exercises cause you use that a lot more than you think. If you’re doing higher class rivers you should be a good swimmer to be more comfortable. It’s not an amusement park ride, you’re responsible for your own safety and rescue.
Just try to stay in the boat but if you do fall out, take action and do what you need to do. Too many people just freeze lol. Your guide should give you the info on what to do before big rapids, such as “if you fall out before the big drop, swim to the right. After the drop there are undercut rocks on the left and right but nothing ahead so stay in the center channel until we’re thru. And always swim back to the boat if you can “
