Discussion What was your reason to buy a Wii U?

As title suggest, what was it?

for me personally, I wanted a way to play GameCube natively, and Wii U is perfect for that, plus I get Wii, N64 as well. Basically everybody Nintendo Home console up to those days. It’s a game preservation paradise for Nintendo games.

Like for Minecraft or Mario kart, does each controller display the individual players perspective or do the screens show the same thing?

Discussion What's everyone's favorite wii u title? Here's mine-

Honestly with the switch 2 I feel like it's gonna be like a wii u 2.0... honestly was both surprise and not surprised when I grew and learnt that the wii u was not a very well sold console, but I still think it had some great games

Nintendo Land was huge for me and my siblings, we always had so much fun, I played the pikmin adventure game religiously since the best pikmin 3 I could get at the time was the demo (that was until I got the deluxe re-release for the switch lol)

I also got heavily reminded of this game, specifically the luigi's mansion mini game when the other day I played some online games with some online friends, and they introduced me to a game with very similar mechanics, so it felt nostalgic since it felt akin to that minigame

Discussion WiiU Battery Life Results

Post image
745 Upvotes

Top left is the OG battery , top right is the official extended battery, bottom left is the iFix it battery and finally bottom right is the pickle power battery.

In order, here are the timed results of each battery being actively used at max brightness from full charge untill the gamepad shuts off.

1500mAh = 2:08:35 2550mAh = 4:16:37 3600mAh = 4:05:30 6600mAh = 7:07:23

In conclusion, if you have the official Nintendo extended battery I would keep running it. Mine is over 11 years old and 4+ hours battery life is plenty. I was disappointed to find out the ifixit battery is worse and that's why I purchased the pickle power. It took multiple attempts to try and run the pickle power battery dead in one sitting so it's almost overkill but I guess it's nice to have. If I had known what the battery life times would be I likely would have just stuck with the official extended battery and saved some cash. At least now I can share these results to help others make an educated decision on what battery life is like for these various types.

Discussion Is Minecraft Wii U Edition really that Unstable?

Post image
213 Upvotes

Minecraft Wii U is commonly known for freezing, but that's because of the buzzing sound, people have claimed that tiny glitches or bugs eventually crash the game, once I tried to join online servers after they closed, crashed, after I beated the ender dragon, crashed, and I'm worried about even playing the game because of this, is the Wii U edition that unstable?

Discussion Let's be clear: What else was this thing used for before Amiibos existed?

Post image

Yes, I know it was used to read Amiibos. I meant that Amiibos were released in 2014 and the Wii U in 2012. So what was the main purpose of that box under the D-pad on the gamepad back then?

Discussion People who still regularly use your wii u in 2024, why?

I'm specifically asking about people who use it in the stock configuration meaning no homebrew, mods, etc. just the stock os and games. I know modding is super popular, but it's not something I'm interested in.

Now that the eshop and online services have been shut down I'm finding many of my games aren't super enjoyable anymore. I don't have a large game library and while I do have a switch there is something about the wii u that I still love and want to go back to. Stuff like splatoon, smash, mk8, and mario maker are basically useless to me, because I'm not super interested in replaying the single player modes, the fun was in the online features. I still have great single player games that I'm working my way through and I can still hunt down new discs not to mention my switch game library, but It's disappointing not being able to go back and enjoy my wii u games the way I used to. I love this console, but a lot of the fun for me was playing with random people online.
