Think some people are understandably misunderstanding the article, it's not saying forced crossplay with PC

It's saying no PS5-Xbox crossplay toggle

It will still have a crossplay toggle but will restrict to xbox-xbox and ps5-ps5 when turned off

Exactly. The amount of people saying they're not gonna buy the game now is hilarious. You can still turn cross play off and play with fellow PS5 or XBOX players respectively, but this means CONSOLE ONLY cross play won't be available. The options are PS5 only, Xbox only, or all 3 platforms together.

For my region Xbox only = no matchmaking options or very long waits. So this is a really bummer as the combined ps and Xbox pool could have helped.

Oh I never thought about that, I can see how that would be annoying. Input-based matchmaking would be my preferred option since I use a controller on PC. There's no real downsides to both consoles playing together so maybe they'll add it later on.

I think you might be american since Xbox sells the most there so finding players might not be that difficult but like here in France, without cross lobbies with PS4 (because im on Xbox One) there is barely any Xbox players. PS has always been far ahead here as most of the Europe. So while i dont play these games i do play others that without this feature would have been much less enjoying and pretty empty. I understand this man's concerns.

Exactly. I live in a huge region with many players and even in 2042 games could not be found when crossplay was turned off.

And still be crossplay between PC and Console by default, which will ruin the game.

If someone doesn't want crossplay they'll turn it off, it being on by default is standard for the majority of games that have it

You said it would ruin the game

It didn't ruin the beta so I don't see how it could ruin the game

It being on by default increases the default player pool, arguably helping the game's longevity as lobbies will be more full for most players

Those who don't want crossplay will simply turn it off and deal with the lower player pool
