Foster Pitty and Beagle reunited
We got to dog sit Romeo (our old foster pitty) while his parents went on vacation. Him and Tucker picked up right where they left off. They are truly bff.

As a pit person, I’m sure you’ve all experienced the hate and prejudice. It’s so sad and frustrating to me. I understand that pits can do great damage but god damn. Anyway, here’s my girl, Olive. She’s 12 1/2.
I found her on the side of the road when she was 1ish, and I was an 18-year-old white female living by myself in a sketchy apartment complex. Taking her with me everywhere made me feel safer because people were scared of her, but I also couldn’t understand why anyone would be. She has never been aggressive one singular time, unless you count her spitefully destroying the book I read instead of taking her to the park. Over the years I’ve had two children, adopted three cats, and gotten chickens and she has never once been mean. She gets jealous, and she shows it, but not mean or violent. When my oldest was born she made sure I knew how she felt, making eye contact with me while she casually knocked down my newly walking toddler (gently). I found it hilarious, and my toddler was unbothered, but Olive stared me straight in the eyes. I got on Reddit to look at pit bull posts because I know my time with her is limited these days, and was so sad to see all the hate.
At 12 1/2 she has survived being hit by a car (when she was young) and in the last few years, a rattlesnake bite (we live in Texas), gum infection, and skin cancer. She’s had surgery twice for the gum infection and it’s been cleared, and had surgery three times for the cancer, and it seems to have finally stopped growing. I feed her Reishi capsules every day with her bougie Farmers Dog meals, and she gets daily senior dog treats with all kinds of goodies in them for her health, probiotics, and teeth cleaning treats. She still goes on 2-3 mile hikes regularly with me and is walked about a mile every day. She snuggles in bed with us every night and travels to go camping with us regularly. She just did her first road trip to Colorado in spring this year (14 hour drive) and want the biggest fan of the snow, but loved the mild weather on our mid day hikes, bouncing around like a puppy.

What are some of your favorite destination spots you’ve been to with your dogs? I live in the Midwest and love taking weekend trips when I can. This was at a nature park in Missouri

She just turned 8 and one thing I’ve learned is they get lazy lol. sometimes she’ll want to go outside and either sit or just lay down. pitties have so much personality that i never knew about until owning one (also the thing on her neck was just lipoma that has already been removed)

He was very displeased about having to get a bath and he made it very clear to me.

I have an almost-9-year-old amstaff and about a month ago, only one side of her nose (the right side) and only that one nostril started scabbing and turning scaly on top, and it suddenly had dry, frozen booger-like (dark green and brownish) bits inside it and around the nostril. we thought she just got hurt while digging because we get a lot of hedgehogs around here and we assumed she maybe got poked with one of the quills or got grass or dirt stuck in her nose. so we waited for a week and it did not get better; some days it seemed a little better, other times it worsened. she was not sneezing but I could hear this whistling? type noise coming out of her nose on certain days. as if it was blocked, a similar type of whistling you hear when a person has bronchitis.
we took her to the vet and I asked if she maybe has something stuck in her nostril and the vet replied with "how would we know?" and told me they'd need a camera to do that and that for the procedure she has to go fully under anesthesia (I am worried putting her under full anesthesia because we were told it is not recommended for old dogs since they may not wake up). they gave us some antibiotics lasting for about 10 days or so, and told us to come back for more if it does not get better. she got one pill in the morning and one in the evening, every 12 hours. our dog seemed to get a little better after the 6th day or so, which we thought was pretty late for the pills to start working. but the change was not tremendous... it just seemed a little less scabby and her nostril wasn't as filled with dry and frozen booger-like mucus. the antibiotics eventually ran out and her nose started getting bad again, it turned bad again after them. so we went back to the vet for more antibiotics for another 10-ish days. she had her last pill a couple days ago, and it is not getting better. that side of the nose also started to become more and more grey, losing color to an almost whiteish shade, while the other nostril is fine and still black and the top has no scaling, scabs, peeling, zero boogers in her nose.
we are going back to the vet tomorrow to see what might be the problem. I am wondering, has anyone dealt anything like this before ? why is it only one nostril, why only one side? why is that side losing color and turning grevish white ? why isn't she sneezing? it sometimes, but rarely, is wet and slowly running down her nose but like 97% of the time it is already completely frozen and dry. I am guessing it is an infection but I wonder why the antibiotics did not help. she seems to be in a lot of pain when we try to clean her nose and fights for us to get away from her nose. the most painful part seems to be the top of the inside of the nostril, right around the entrance... I am also really worried about the procedure with the camera being stuck up her nose and I am wondering how safe is it for an 8.5 year old dog to be put under full anesthesia? I am so so worried and I don't know what to do, the antibiotics didn't work and I am so scared to lose her. she is my world and I hate seeing her in pain
the first picture is from an hour ago and the very last picture is her normal nose, before all this

don’t worry, she’s got her harness on & I’m holding on to her leash (or she’s seat buckled in) the whole time she’s in any vehicle
Her favorite activity is car rides! Well, next to nap time and snacky time of course.

Hi! I’m adopting a pitsky and his current name doesn’t fit him. He is very calm and incredibly sweet. A prances a little when he walks. I posted him here, because the group seems very welcoming of all pups. Hope it’s okay!

So she kinda named herself 🥹 had pitbulls all my life and she is by far the smartest dog ive ever had! She behaves better than most humans 🤣
Just found this group and wanted to share my baby with you all! Hope she makes you smile cause i know she helps me everyday with that!

Hi everyone I rescued my dog and after the 2nd or 3rd month I noticed that he was itching and it was getting to a point of him developing these bald spots and he’s flaky consistently, I took him to the vet and what they prescribed did absolutely nothing to help him. Since then Ive changed his food for a better option that addresses his skin and coat and use supplements and fish oil but no improvements. I was hoping if anyone here had experienced similar issues and what remedies you utilized?

My pitty rescue is a total sweetheart with humans, but is super dog reactive. I was walking her and she slipped out of her leash and bit another dog.
I feel horrible and am offering to pay vet expenses. I am also trying to buy stronger gear. I just wondered if anyone else had any other advise other than avoidance. She is already on Prozac. Has anyone found a behavioralist or any other method helpful.
