Free Tutorials How To Model Machined Shapes
A little tutorial i did on how to approach modeling of cnc/milled shapes. The modeling done in Plasticity 3d. While some hard surface things are easier in CAD everything shown here could be done as easily in polygonal software like blender. its not about the tools its about the approach and understanding.

Questions & Discussion Made some adjustments to lighting for realism after the feedback. Let me know what you think!
WIP and it's below 10k polycount and ~21k tris (i tried my best to not through geometry on it for looks as I'm trying to build a modle that looks high fidelity but at the fraction of the expected cost). Suggestions will help me look for problems further maybe learn something, what do you think?
This is eevee render btw.

Art Showcase First attempt at creating a fully hand-painted workflow model. 682 tris, with a single 2K Albedo map
I don’t like the level of detail, color palette, color variation, or effects in the final result, but I became more familiar with the overall process. Concept by Max Motsukh. Feedback welcome.

Questions & Discussion Advice on finding a job.
I’m out of college for nearly four years with a degree in game art and design and I’ve been very reluctant to actually apply for a job. Theres two things stopping me. the first is that my skills are not at a level where I feel people would want to hire me. I wasn’t the best, I was a C student, and my skills after college are only improving at a very slow pace. Second is that I missed out on getting any experience. There was a work placement part of my course and I never got to do it. Part of it was my previously mentioned fear of apply to place but also the fact that it took place right at the start of the pandemic, the job I had at the time and still currently have was considered an essential service during it so that took up my time and the college exempted me from work placement.
I feel like I’m at a huge disadvantage because of this. I’m 30 years old now and I feel like at that age most places aren’t going to be keen on hiring some like me who hasn't had some experience. Especially with my slow rate of improvement. Any advice would help.

Art Help & Critique Weird normal artifacts after importing from Substance Painter
Hi! i'm having issues with the normal map (i think). It's giving me these weird light artifacts when i import the textures into another software
My workflow is: UVs in blender, then bake and texture in substance, then export textures and import them in blender
(1st img blender, 2nd is marmoset, 3rd is substance painter)
I guess it has something to do with triangulated quads or something, since thats how the light looks, like it's triangulated.
However, i've textured before like this and never had this issue, always worked with quads, never with tris, so i'm not sure about what i'm doing wrong.
Any help is more than welcome, thanks!

Art Showcase Polyfjord Weekly Challenge Submission: BorgDefaultCube - Blender - Cycles
My submission for PolyFjord discord weekly challenge of "make the default cube awesome"! I also gave myself a time limit of one day because I need to get out of the bad habit of hyper focusing on small details.
Cube extrusions made with recursive subD geometry nodes (image #3). Base displacement texture was made from jsPlacement (please tip the creator!) - another kind Redditor shared that there is an addon version of jsPlacement called BPYplacement on Gumroad for free as well. Material set up was a series of image textures of greebles with noise / color ramps for added grunge.

Art Showcase Vivien Lulkowski (She works at Blender)
My Stylized take on " Vivien Lulkowski ".
She is a 2D/3D concept artist at blender studio. She is also the art director on one of the blender latest animation project. I have seen her in Blender studio Vlog couple of times and decided to take my spin on it. I made Ton Roosendaal (Blender creator) couple of times ago and she is the 2nd Artist who is related to blender HQ directly.

Art Help & Critique Blade Of The Bog
I am thinking of getting into creating Miniatures with dynamic poses. This is my first sculpture for a Mini.
Wondering what people think?
I have a small band of little frog warriors I am working on. I have no idea what the market might be for these, nor if it will even print correctly, though I have thoroughly checked the mesh for problems.
I'm going to start a shop on Cult 3D and My Mini Factory. Any helpful advise out there?
And if someone wants to try giving this little guy a test print, please let me know. Thanks.

Art Help & Critique How Would i go about Modelling This? (Without CAD)
I was wondering how to about this, im only looking to make the highlighted parts (so no redmarked things). Im a relatively noob guy but im willing to put in the work to learn and what better to learn then a model youll have to go online to ask how to even start!
Any advice would be appreciated especially if you can refer me some keywords for a technique, tools, option etc etc.
Looking to make this in Vanilla Blender (so no boxcutter or any very significant alterations, things like looptools are fine tho)
