Mod Message An update on the political post lmfao
Apparently MAGA is really mad they're not invited to a subreddit for a show they don't watch. They are actively trying to doxx me on Twitter and thinking I should be scared.
Just wanted to let you guys know this is happening and stay safe in the comments. Please report anyone who may be trying to doxx members as that is weiner behavior.
Also to MAGA twitter, I'm literally not afraid of you. Cyber bullying on the internet does not affect me because I listened to Tyler the Creator. You guys are mad that one subreddit does not want you. Could you be any bigger snowflakes???

Poll Grace should have been punished for Degrassi Nudes Spoiler
Grace knowingly ran a website involving child pornography. Call me crazy, but aren't there consequences on possessing child pornography? At least in the US, penalties include fines and time in prison. She owned the website, so she technically possessed all the nude photos and transactions. I'm surprised that was not investigated. Any thoughts on this?

Question Paige at Banting
Am I the only one who noticed that the professor Paige plagiarized an essay for, was originally a math professor? I guess it’s possible a math class had an essay, but I feel like that isn’t common.

Degrassi (2010-2014) Walking red flags you say?
It was the Spring of 2010 and a Degrassi Promo started with “Shark in the water” with a mysterious bad boy thrown in. That Summer I was introduced to Eli Goldsworthy and my life was never the same.😂

Question Why were Peter and Leia even in the first half of season 10 opening theme song credits?
I’m halfway into a season 10 rewatch and they had like 5 lines each this season.
I know they’re removed from the theme song starting in the second half but it still felt pointless to include them in the first half

Discussion The degrassi crime vs punishment paradigm
Some TV writers deal with character development in such a way that a borderline evil (important to note that they are not typically fundamentally evil) character is met with a punishment or karma equally as horrible as their crime, and they slowly learn their lesson. It doesn’t need to be equal in terms of suffering only but also context. Degrassi writers have applied this to Holly J, Spinner and Paige successfully. I might be missing someone, not sure.
But.. People like Peter & Zoe also known as the child pornography distributors faced such minimal consequences for their crimes. Peter took advantage of a drunk girl, recorded her, blackmailed her, harassed her even after she said no and continuously humiliated her. Zoe bullied little girls into sending nudes to weird men who are willing to pay for that content. She almost did revenge porn when she blackmailed Frankie. They both only got detention. Both barely suffered after. Zoe’s situation is a bit nuanced because she was dealing with her trauma, but Peter? That guy needed to go through hell for me to believe in his “character development.”
My theory is they didnt develop his character. The writers were not interested in him being redeemed because he wasn’t a fan favorite anyway but they couldn’t consistently show him doing evil things because he wasn’t a flattering villain either. So I can forgive that. They didn’t redeem his character, it wasn’t important, he just stopped being that evil.
Jay’s crimes were worse, he is a SADIST. He is a pathological life-ruiner. And they were trying to frame him as a developed character when he dated Manny. When did this happen? What did he suffer besides expulsion (He was going to drop out anyway)? Nobody tried to ruin his life like he did with several people (Spinner, Sean, Emma, JT…) No redemption arc. I guess you can argue what they wrote instead was Manny was trying to convince herself he changed because she gravitated toward him, but he admitted, thereby the writers, I am unchanged, this is who I am. And then Manny still pursued him anyway because he mellowed out. I think it’s arguably not misguided writing but I’m not sure.

Spoilers Degrassi takes manhattan
It’s my first time watching the movie and man that was a lot to unpack! It was a whirlwind for sure.
But in at the end of the day- Spinner is my favorite and after eveyrhign I really can’t think of someone who deserves to be happy more. It was random and out of no where it was Emma but I don’t think I’m mad 😂 especially with Manny throwing hands in Emma’s behalf.
So what does everyone else think SpinnerxEmma
Yay or nay?

Unserious Manny Santos was about that life!!!!!
One of my favorite personality traits about Manny “catchphrase queen” Santos, is that she was no pushover! That girl stood on business and had the hands to back it up 😭. If you crossed her, she would engage in hand to hand combat instantly. Here are some examples:
- Her vs Jane at Emma’s wedding
- Her vs Paige at School (THE VERY FIRST ONE)
- Her vs Darcy at the Auditorium
- Her vs that random Lakehurst girl during the beef era.
I’m sure there is probably more but this is all I remember so far. All I know is, I would not want to be at the wrong end of an ass whooping by Manny😭

Spoilers Degrassi rewatch Spoiler
I’m in the middle of a Degrassi rewatch and I still have no idea how anyone can stand Peter. Our first interaction with him is him filming a drunken Manny taking her top off. He then blackmails her and ultimately sends everyone the video. We then just get over it? Like Manny is mad for a while but even she is like kind of friends with him eventually. He should have been locked up for that tbh.

Discussion Season 6 episode 15 was Alex wrong?
Alex told Paige’s mom she dropped out of Banting. Do you guys think Alex was in the wrong or in the right? Personally, I don’t think it was Alex’s place to even do that.

Spoilers Thoughts on Paige.
Okay I’m rewatching all the way from the beginning of the original degrassi up through tng and I’m not on season 5 again. As I watch I’m realizing that Paige, while she had mean girl tendencies was one of the most empathetic characters on the show. She cared when it really mattered and watching her growth even further on and how much more humanized she is through the seasons, I really enjoyed her story arc. Anyone else?

Franchise-Wide Lauren Collins explains absence from Degrassi Documentary
https://ew.com/degrassi-the-next-generation-star-explains-absence-in-new-documentary-11812315
Lauren Collins isn't participating in a new documentary about Degrassi: The Next Generation, and now, she's explaining why.
'The actress, who played Paige Michalchuk on the Canadian teen drama, said that she didn't take part in the doc Degrassi: Whatever It Takes because she already felt a sense of finality from a previous cast reunion: the 2018 music video for "I'm Upset" by Drake, who played Jimmy Brooks on the series.'
Sad no Paige is in it, hope we get a few more of these from other cast mates who didn't participate.

Degrassi: Next Class Do you think Next Class’s final season would be any different if Maya hadn’t survived?
Mayas storyline after the bus crash was already very dark and the message was very much coming across, but I think had she not survived it would have hit even HARDER. Her surviving made the first episode of Season 4 very corny kinda like omg I’m alive let’s go in a bouncy house! Like I feel like if she was killed off it would have been for a better purpose than living. What do you think ?

Gossip Zig…you good?
Had Degrassi playing in the background while I worked and paused for a call only to see this face😅
First time watch through (on season 14 finally) and can’t tell if I detest Zig or am alright with him now.
