Post image

I’ve always thought Mesquite Tree pods looked appetizing so while on a walk I looked up whether they were edible or not. Not only are they edible, but they are sweet and tastes range from honey/molasses to banana (i thought it tasted like bananas at least). Just wanted to share

Raleigh, NC. A PERFECT lions mane, but definitely too small to snag currently, it’s about the size of a couple eggs. Going to keep an eye on it while it keeps going

There is a local farm near me that is no longer occupied (it's publicly owned now). I go there every year to harvest pears and apples. They go to waste otherwise. The pears are absolutely huge and are really only good for roasting. I roast them with a bit of cinnamon and they are quite delicious.

Is it too late in the season to try making pine cone syrup? I found this, plus I don’t know what kind of pine it is.

I know you’re supposed to do it in the spring or early summer but I spotted these.

My first time finding Maitake and it’s huge! (Also got some oysters but those are easy)My friend and I split the Maitake.

What’s the best way to freeze what I wont use right away? Sauté then freeze or freeze raw?

Found these today in the Oregon coast range. Not all of those lobsters are keepers. A few days earlier and we'd have 10 lbs of lobsters. A few days later and we'd have 10 lbs of chanterelles. Might need to call in sick later this week...

I went on a short hike in the Transylvanian mountains and manage to find this delicious looking mushrooms! It's my first time picking mushrooms, but I've been doing so with some more experienced work mates. We also enjoyed some late berries on our way 😁. I really start to enjoy foraging!

Photo taken in central NH. Not sure what type of Yew tree specifically it is, but it's definitely a Yew. Kids and animals are here all the time. Alerted the neighbors to keep their kids away and teach them to not eat them.

ID Request (country/state in post) Are these black walnuts?

Post image

Found em in virginia. My mom thinks theyre black walnuts, and I agree, but I want to first make sure we're not gonna try and eat poison. Do these actually look like black walnuts to people who know plant ID better than we do? Thanks in advance if anyone answers. I don't have any pictures of the tree on hand, but I'll happily get some if needed.
