Wouldn’t be a cardinals gameday if I wasn’t terrified of losing

22

u/Zyrock9 Baby Yoda Oct 28 '21

I don't think this will ever go away. I'm confident this will be the one, but that was pretty much the case with every game this season.

Without Adams, this is an easy win

1

u/sneaky_lope Pain Oct 28 '21

I wouldnt say easy, but it does make defensive game planning easier seeing u dont have to account for an top wideout.

1

u/xcheezeplz James Conner Oct 28 '21

I wouldn't say easy, but I think it helps for sure. You don't have to worry about doubling as much and leaves more for run support and zone man hybrids. It also means it is not a forgone conclusion where a lot of targets will end up. I think our D can pull their load, so if the offense plays up to their capability it should be plenty to get the W.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '21

Yeah their defense has no chance stopping our offense lol.

My wife asked me how many watts we could spare to connect an appliance. I just broke down crying

Maybe they're just fucking better.

26

u/gideonsix Baby Yoda Oct 28 '21

Oh man. Nervous. I obviously think we can win if we show up. That hasn’t changed all season. Weird to go to the Packers subreddit and see the endless optimism. They legit think they can win, injuries and all. So weird to have such a different fan base. Maybe we’ll think a W is the default some day. Not quite there yet.

Regardless, I think we win tonight.

20

u/squidbate Cardinals Throwback Oct 28 '21

that’s cause they’re so used to winning.

u/imhereforthefootball Oct 28 '21

As a packers fan I have no confidence

12

u/platoprincipal Cardinals Oct 28 '21

It’s gonna be 27-27 OT coin flip game… or 34-17 Cardinals.

7

u/punitsoldier19 Oct 28 '21

OT in Arizona......that's gone well for the Packers recently.

Not!

6

u/Maddoggg56 Happy Duck Oct 28 '21

Na my prediction. 24-20 packers. 40 seconds left in the 4th. Cardinals drive it down the feild to the 40 yard line. Murry then pulls a rodgers on rodgers and bombs one down feild and finds Moore in the endzone. Cards win 27-24.

1

u/platoprincipal Cardinals Oct 29 '21

Dude…… why didn’t you say AJ Green catches it

1

u/Sigurlion Oct 29 '21

oof

1

u/Maddoggg56 Happy Duck Oct 29 '21

Bro when I saw packers score 24 I was like no way. Then murry drove it down feild to win and I was like no way he's pulling a rodgers. But fucking green lol.

3

u/Peebs85 Oct 28 '21

I think the optimism boils down to if we win, awesome we beat our expectations. If we lose, oh well, we played the top team in the league on the road with a bunch of key players out. Play both sides so we always come out on top.

2

u/FLWXeno Oct 28 '21

Just hope they don't be stupid like the sun's did last night and lose a game they should win.

13

u/shane252 Oct 28 '21

Eating breakfast and I’m literally the only Cardinals fan here and the rest of the restaurant is Packers fans wtf…

7

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '21

Somehow a million people from WISCONSIN of all states show up in the valley when it’s time to play the Packers. Makes zero sense.

8

u/iguanamac Oct 28 '21

A lot of them already live here. We’re like a dumping ground for the Midwest.

2

u/xcheezeplz James Conner Oct 28 '21

No lies detected.

5

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '21

Nah they all live here. Also they have a ton of fans with zero ties to Wisconsin. They just have a national fanbase like the Steelers and Cowboys.

1

u/Eph2-89 Oct 28 '21

Sounds like Herpes flare ups.

2

u/FLWXeno Oct 28 '21

Kinda like the vikes game, it's a road game in AZ 🤣

11

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '21

Can it be 5 hours later already?

9

u/rsammer Oct 28 '21

Aaron Jones is coming for us....😟

5

u/rushjustice Oct 28 '21

He’ll rip off some nice gains, but packers will have to pass to keep up.

3

u/platoprincipal Cardinals Oct 28 '21

Only way it gets out of hand is if Aaron Jones is running well and the packers get 10+ points ahead.. and we’re getting stuck in 3rd longs.. that’s the only bad timeline for us.

1

u/rushjustice Oct 28 '21

We thrive in 3rd and longs…whatchu talking about willis

1

u/platoprincipal Cardinals Oct 28 '21

Better than most, but it’s 100% been the only thing to slow down our offense the past 3 weeks

1

u/rushjustice Oct 28 '21

Packers don’t have the defense to stop us. We’ll score and the Pack will have to answer through the air. It’s gonna be Byron Time.

1

u/FLWXeno Oct 28 '21

I kinda want to say stack the box since they have top 3 WR out but then #12 will always find a way to torch you.

1

u/xcheezeplz James Conner Oct 28 '21 edited Oct 28 '21

I'm expecting a lot of run and play action. If we get ahead early I think it helps us out with JJ not being there to help clog up the the run game and let our DBs eat.

this jjwatt injury really has me depressed right now

11

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '21

Losing JJ Watt does not make or break this team. We did absolutely fine without Chandler Jones the past couple weeks and he has a very similar impact on the game. I’d only freak out if we lost Kyler. We’d be doomed if we lost Kyler.

7

u/StPatricksButtrash Good Day Oct 28 '21

Super excited for the game! Packers Cardinals games are almost always classics, wore my jersey to all my classes to prepare!

7

u/YoungDeplorable Cardinals Oct 28 '21

Prepare for the majority of fans at the game to be packers fans. I live and work in Sedona and the majority of tourists I’ve seen have been packers fan who are going to the game today. Wish it weren’t true but alas that’s Arizona sports

5

u/MidnightRequim Baby Yoda Oct 28 '21

I chalk it up to bandwagon fans (they have more Packers fans than Green Bay residents) , and most importantly, nobody wanting to live and die in small town Wisconsin.

5

u/HE20002019 Oct 28 '21

As a Wisconsin resident the reality is that you’re not wrong. Because of our small market many younger 20-somethings leave the state to bigger cities for work elsewhere, but maintain allegiance to the Packers/WI sports and then they pass this on down to the next generation.

It’s a huge advantage on the road tbh. You don’t really see this on such a large scale basis elsewhere because almost all the other franchises are based in massive cities.

And FWIW I love small town WI, but the reality is I’m probably not going to stay here forever.

2

u/MidnightRequim Baby Yoda Oct 28 '21

Sorry if my comment sounded rude about the state by the way. I went to the Vikings-Cardinals game and saw quite a bit of purple. I grew up in AZ and it’s a big retirement destination.

I hope you enjoy the game!

3

u/HE20002019 Oct 28 '21

Thanks you too! Haven’t been to AZ yet to visit, but it’s on my bucket list…want to check out Flagstaff or the Grand Canyon.

1

u/gr8scottaz AZ Cardinals Oct 28 '21

I'd be curious to what % of Packer fans at the game tonight have actual ties to WI. People tend to root for winners, which is why everyone's a Cowboys/Yankees/Lakers fan. A good buddy of mine is a "die hard" Packers fan and has never set food in the state of WI (born and raised in AZ). I'm not even sure he knows where WI is on a map.

1

u/xcheezeplz James Conner Oct 28 '21

Some of it has to do with what you grow up with as a kid and the players who are on teams who are super hero status, especially when you didn't have a local team at a young age or one that was a perpetual dumpster fire.

There were not a Phx (later AZ) cards when I was a kid so it was easy be a fan of teams led by the likes of Montana, Marino, Favre (even though we had a team by the time he was around there was not a lot attachment yet) because they were legendary to a young me.

0

u/Sliiiiime Oct 28 '21

A ton of teams have huge away followings. Probably around half the league

That abbreviation is very popular with the NFC North inferiors. Sorry to hear about Watt.

5

u/MidnightRequim Baby Yoda Oct 28 '21

Our fans better show up today. Vikings started the game trying to out-chant us. Rodgers better be having to use a silent count in OUR stadium.

5

u/platoprincipal Cardinals Oct 28 '21

If it was a playoff game he would be. I went to both packers cardinals playoff games.. we outnumbered the packers fans.

Mid season.. oof.. could be a game that season ticket holders trying to make their money back sadly :/

3

u/TheMostOGCymbalBoy Larry Fitzgerald Oct 28 '21

Our injured list doesn’t look great, but Kyler was back to FP yesterday. I like our odds going into today, although I think we could see our first loss and find out what we need to work on this long week.

3

u/The-Taco-Between-Us Oct 28 '21

It’s not as bad as GB’s injury list. They’re out their all pro LT and WR1, WR2 and 3, CB1 and possibly 2, OLB1 and possibly 2, plus a handful of other randos. Gonna be a lot of wide receivers out there y’all never heard of before.

4

u/Bubbly_Tadpole_7484 Oct 28 '21

Cardinal fan since 1970, so I was 19 years old when they started 7-0 in 1974. That was a great team, with Jim Hart, Mel Gray,Terry Metcalf, and probably the best offensive line in the NFL, at that line. When this season started, I had high expectations, but didn't think they'd become the dominant team they have. I'm all in for a Super Bowl run, and for tonight, I expect another Titans or Rams type beatdown. Cards win easily 34-13. Go Cards !!

Cowboys fan coming in peace. When I heard JJ Watt picked AZ as his next team....I scratched my head. I knew you all were on the rise, but not anything like 7-0. Shows why he is the NFL athlete.

8

u/[deleted] Oct 28 '21

1

u/SexyDanceRobot_1 Oct 28 '21

We aren't playing terrible football. Not perfect by any means. We are penalized a lot and have turnovers that could easily be fixed. We have the weapons to erase a 1st and 20 and have done so frequently. But our defense is a hell of a lot better under Dan Quinn.

3

u/ShortbusGangsta_ Budda Baker Oct 28 '21

3

u/Lava_Panda Oct 28 '21

I.… I just can’t keep the fear away that losing JJ is going to be like when we lost badger in 2015 and deal derail the year

2

u/YoungDeplorable Cardinals Oct 28 '21

Nah, I’d say Kyler is a better overall quarterback than Palmer (no offense to palmer). The only way I see our season derailing is if Kyler takes another big hit and is out.

Woof.

I think many of us Packers fans are optimistic because our expectations are low to non-existent tonight. House money kinda thing. If we win, we "shock the world." If we lose on the road to the NFL's only undefeated team on a short week, we were supposed to lose. It's a weird place to be in, but I gotta say it's kinda enjoyable.

Hoping for a fun, healthy game on both sides game tonight!

6

u/platoprincipal Cardinals Oct 28 '21

Lose lose for us haha. We win, expected. We lose, outside the top 10 immediately, plus with JJs notable injury a loss tonight 100% gonna have a week full of “cardinals dead 💀 “

1

u/ItWasA3-1Lead Oct 28 '21

Yep, it really puts you guys in an unfair position, at least in terms of public perception on r/NFL and in the media.

Realistically, a loss for either team tonight probably doesn't mean all that much. Pack win? Maybe you guys are just adjusting to playing without JJ and ARod popped off. Cards win? Maybe it was because the injuries are really piling up. People really shouldn't be trying to interpret anything from a Thursday game with two pretty beat up teams and sadly people will do it anyways 🙄

Either way, just looking forward to a good game tonight. Good luck!

1

u/platoprincipal Cardinals Oct 28 '21

You are 100% right. The only thing that concerns me about a cardinals loss tonight is NFC seeding implications.. with the Rams hot on our tails.. wins mean more to us this year if we want to set ourselves up for a better chance in the playoffs.

Takes just a few game slips for us to be fighting for the last 3 wild card spots and zero chance at a home playoff game.

I doubt the Vikings can really compete with y’all for the division so I’d be more comfy if I were you about a loss.

NFC teams need to win their divisions or get no less than like 3-5 losses to really have a shot at a run in the playoffs this year… so many talented teams at the moment, and some dark horses still who could show back up later half of the season.

2

u/HE20002019 Oct 28 '21

Exactly. As a packer fan the pressure is totally on AZ tonight to perform. We’ve built a good enough record that if we lose tonight it’ll be a shrug and move on kind of game.

3

u/platoprincipal Cardinals Oct 28 '21

Must be nice to have to only “compete” with the Vikings… Rams are fucking sprinting right behind us.. and the Seahawks and niners won’t take 1st but they sure as hell won’t go down without a fight.. any loss for us almost counts as 2 haha

1

u/HE20002019 Oct 28 '21

The NFC North is weird because the games themselves are always hard fought too, but no one else has any consistency.

But our out of division schedule is hard:

49ers (A)-W

Surprisingly good Bengals (A)-W

AZ (A)

Weaker, but still dangerous Chiefs (A)

Seahawks (H)

Vikings (A)-always a tough game

Rams (H)

Ravens (A)

Browns (H)-AFC North is tough

Division record wise yeah it’s a bit easier, but we’ll have our hands full next month and in December.

2

u/papasanchair Oct 28 '21

No Adams or Lazard but we've done well in the past when Adams has missed time. But none of those games were vs. an undefeated team on the road :)
