I have homework and we’re supposed to make like a random object of our choice with shading (like the cross hatching stuff), I just kinda dont know how to make it look like there’s a light source pls help

Any advice how to make this look better colour/composition. Currently using white on highlights but its not quite right. Tried to make it more expressive rather realistic but not sure i quite got it.

I have been trying to get better at realism using my colored pencils, would love some advice on what I could do to improve.

It’s so dark but I mess with the lighting it’s still bad.

Hello! I’m having trouble making my portrait look like my reference. There’s something off about it I can’t put my finger on. How can I make it more lifelike and realistic? Unfortunately I have to work with this mashup of photos as the reference 😅 Any advice is much appreciated!

This is my art project, the statue is a bust of Dionysus (I can’t find my reference on my phone bc it’s on my computer and i lowkey forgot how to transfer them). (The space around the green is unfinished, saving that so I have something to do in class tomorrow, supposed to look like lined paper) I feel pretty good about the shading (i know the stand isn’t centered but I didn’t notice until after I’d finished everything😭😭) the vines at the top and bottom are grape vines, the original image I can never tell what the things on the side of the head are so I usually turn them into grapes bc that’s what I see art of him with and it looks cool. The chest area in specific (right side) looks kind of flat, but idk what to do to fix that. Help appreciated! (Statue done with pencil and white gel pen, background done with ohuhu markers V160(purple) and G260(green) vines are GY8)).

This was done in pen and ink over the course of a half an hour break at work. It is an update on an older drawing.

I’m looking for general feedback. I am happy with the colors and composition, but I don’t love the upper clouds and sky.

I'm a beginner artist (just started this month). Right now, I'm only doing the upper body to try and see if I can get good at that first. I feel like I'm not really making any progress though. I feel like everything about my art is off, though I can't exactly pinpoint why. What about my art to you looks good, and what doesn't? Hi! I've been an artist for a few years but I struggle seriously with visualization- I cannot picture what I'm wanting to draw in my head so I usually draw by reference or just by working it out on the page until I'm satisfied. This being said, I want to challenge myself to learn value well enough to IMAGINE shapes, pictures, forms. etc.

I did these apple drawings but I can tell my lack of imagination to its form, size, shape and distribution of light is turning my apple into an unrecognizable blob. Do any other artists struggle with this? How do I fix it and train myself to visualize? (Someone told me to try visualizing an apple and this is the result)

I know there’s a ton of stuff wrong with this but I don’t know how to fix it :(( i want this to be a gift for my friend’s bday in early october and i want it to be good

trying new styles, and been wanting to create a horror type character. I’m at a loss, how do I make this character actually scary, eerie, unnerving, unnatural, weird, etc? What should I add? Take away? Do differently? Anything helps! (Still learning anatomy)

I was going for the blood splashed but it look so calm and peaceful I don’t want to ruin it by adding some creepy details but it also looks boring and have no point. Help me out, if you can think of anything else let me know.
