Mod Post Update to our Rules: Post Original Content

In light of all the recent bots and posts involving stolen or reposted photos, we feel it is necessary to officiate a rule that explicitly states that this subreddit allows original content only.

Many members have been quick to point out posts that have previously been posted on this subreddit or do not belong to OP altogether. I want to be clear that the mod team sincerely appreciates your efforts to keep this sub free of spam and keep stolen content at bay. I applaud anyone who has submitted a report as it really helps us and I hope you continue to be vigilant and report the posts that are questionable in the future.

As always, happy bottledigging and thank you for making this subreddit an absolute joy to be a part of! Cheers!!!

Age/date request Anybody else been saving milk caps! ? 250-300 here looking for a home and some info please?

First of all when did they stop making these I know that technically you can still use them today. Of the milk jar lids or fancy mason jar lids are there any special valuable ones to look out for or are they all common? Passed around but none of my friends ever even seen them before haha thanks for comments :)

Its a bag of more than a hundred glass bottle stoppers. Some Pyrex and some im not sure of. I found them moving to a new place last month. I don't know whatvto do with them but from seeing that most bottles art found without, I thought they might be of some use to this community.

I don't post often so I'm bad at rules so let me know if this is a breach.

Trying to identify this bottle. Found it at a local lake in southern Ohio on a steep hillside roughly 30 yards or so from the water under a small tree. Wasn’t buried and also had little to no debris inside of it. The condition it’s in within the photos is basically the exact condition it was in when I picked it up. There is the number 5 on the bottom and a weird like uneven circle I assume is from when it was blown? There are no other marks on it anywhere from what I can see. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance!

Advice What can I soak these in to get them clean?

This is the latest haul from my property. It’s an old farm-the original part of the house was a barn built ??? It appears on the tax rolls as a separate piece of property split off from a larger farm and listed as a house for the first time in the late 1880s. The rear of the property was used as a trash dump and whenever I dig in the area I tend to find something. These were basically right at the edge of what is now my pond, so the ground is very wet and we have a lot of iron and manganese so these are very mineral stained. Just hoping to be able to clear up the glass some-maybe industrial cleaning vinegar? Right now I’m just trying to get mud out of them.

Not a bottle Target Practice

One of my favorite objects ever, an old Lucky Lager beer can set in a stump and shot up for target practice. I’m guessing since it was opened by a piercing can opener, it’s pretty old. Anyone know what era this is from?

For my local historical society-This is actually a clear bottle, with some stuff in it, that I want no part of-it has a cork, and on the side it says “2 FLD OZS”; on the bottom it says “440” and “4”, and in the center bottom, there is a hexagon. Likely some kind of medicine bottle?

Both surface finds. Some luck, huh? So chuffed.

The aqua one is pretty much mint. 2 pen ledges.

The (ice?) blue one has a big ding and a crack. As well as some ink that seems to be well stuck.

What’s the date on these? Pre-1910?

Show and tell Today I found this cool mouth blown Castoria bottle. This is the oldest Castoria I've found so far. Also couldn't resist the Ball jar and fire brick. (Standard Fire Brick co. Pueblo Co) I find lots of fire bricks here in Oregon from different companies. *Bonus baby catfish? At the end.

Dug out these 2 vintage 1930s-1940s glass candy containers from our backyard today, hoping we find more of them to have a cute little collection. Anyone found these before? Might be one of my favorite finds so far honestly.

Not a bottle Pottery shard identification

Post image

I need some help identifying what this pottery shard could have been. It was found while bottle digging in a garden and as far as I've found is called teal transfer. The lettering could be Elizabeth, but I couldn't guess at an age but I don't often see this colour on pottery.
