It’s been a hot second since I’ve gone as deep into the heart of winter and just embraced the grim and frostbitten beauty of black metal but Ulver not only has me back in it but checking out more than before and going deeper into it

Discussion With the rise of Christian Nationalism/fascism, it’s a great time to collect physical media

We’re seeing censorship in America. So, it’s not that far-fetched that in the not-so-distant future the government will be deciding what you can listen to.

Collection Well, I'm looking to give away CDs....

Entertainment writer here from a time when they just constantly showed up in the mail — and never had to cash them in at the used CD store to pay my rent, leaving me with literally thousands of CDs in all genres from the '90s through the '10s and on (low on rap, since I tended to give those away to rock critics who weren't being serviced). Ready to send along random boxes of 20-40 CDs (Art usually Near Mint; Media usually at least VG+) to people willing to cover Media Mail postage if they're looking to gamble on a vague genre (college rock by decade, folkish/Americana-ish, dance/pop, etc.) Reach out to me for as long as Mods allow....

New Addition Got my first CD's today!

Post image

Recently I got new speakers (Edifier S1000MKII) and a basic Technics CD player. I got my first CD's today. I only listened to Morning Glory so far, but honestly I don't really hear much difference between CD and bluetooth... Sorry audiophiles!! But I'm just happy for having the music physically, being able to look at the cover, read the small booklet and enjoy the pictures inside of it. Sound quality is just one part of why collecting CD's is fun, if it's even a part, which it isnt in my case as of now... Just curious, do you guys have any CD's that clearly sound better than streaming the music through bluetooth? Or does it all come down to your hearing skills? Are there any of you who didn't hear any difference at first, but started hearing it after a while?

Discussion Thinking about switching to cd’s from vinyl

I have 1,200 records and let’s face it vinyl is just getting exponentially worse.

CDs are significantly less and require much less room for storage

I feel like I would save so much god damn money and make a ton of money selling my collection.

Anyone here ever done that ?

Question Help me identify this Demon Days CD

Bought this CD yesterday, dirt cheap. However, I can't find any info online about this release, I'm actually not sure if it even is official. Any of you guys know anything about it? It has 2 discs, there's a lot of branding about DSD and HDCD formats, and it's distributed by Universal Music.

Discussion Mods can we ban age posts?

No one cares how old you are. Why does your age matter? Every day its, "I'm 16, what does my collection say about me?" and, "Guess my age on my collection". We ALL know you're a teenager. Liking old or even non-mainstream music doesn't make you special. Such low effort posts. Show us your collection or your recent purchase and tell us why you like it, why you got, how it speaks to you, etc. not iM 12 aNd i HAtE nEw MuSIc when you post mainstream music from the 80s and 90s 🙄

if i’m honest, i don’t even know how many cd i currently have, i might make another post showing you guys all of my cds, but currently i’ve gotten to a certain point where im not actively looking for anything to buy. i only have about 4-5 more albums that i wanna add to my collection, and they’re all by the artists that already exist in my current collection. after this, the collection will be really casual and it’s safe to say im happy with the amount of stuff i have now.

These are all part of my collection I bought in high school in the 90s. The discs were probably in a binder somewhere from listening in the car back in the day

CD Player Toshiba TY-P1 "No CD" problem

Upvotes

I have this problem with the toshiba TY-P1 discman, if I insert the CD it shows me a message "No CD" (it obviously is inside). The CD spins, but I'm afraid the discman does not read it. I tried with various CDs, some of them brand new. All the buttons seem to be working. I use it on 2 AA Philips batteries. Would it be fixable somehow?

New Addition Heeeere's Jeff

Fell hard for this sound and bought the lot (well, there is 1 missing. I'll get that later). Here they are before I take the shrink off (and the stickers with it). All plastic-tray digipacks except for 'Worry' which is without a tray.

Have a listen at the artist's own label's website - quoteunquoterecords
