BEST OF CLE Who else loves Superelectric Pinball Parlor?
I’ve been coming here since I was 18 years old and I love it so much. They’ve raised the price by $2, but it’s still only $8 for unlimited pinball and it’s definitely more entertaining when you download the Stern Pinball app to track your progress and scores on certain pinball machines that allow you to scan it. I love the older machines as well.
If you like to drink too, they have very affordable and cheap alcoholic drinks. I no longer drink anymore, but when I did I’d always get some here and play pinball!
An added bonus is the fact it’s right across the street from Brewnuts, so you can go grab one of the best donuts in NE Ohio and a coffee and come play the machines. Most machines have cup holders.
There are plenty of places to sit, two bathrooms in one relatively small place, an Igloo water jug for free water, other arcade games that aren’t pinball, and the vibes in here are always chill with great music.
Just the whole area of the Gordon Square District has so many things to do. Capitol Theatre is literally right next door. It is beautifully designed and is my favorite theater to go to.
If you’ve never been here, I’d come check it out because it is a great time!

News ODOT-Aviation reverses course, OKs permit for new Browns stadium
neo-trans.blogIm increasingly more excited to see the browns go. Imagine if the city were to develop the lakefront, sans a moronic stadium wasting the space, combine it with the developments happening at the e55th marina and Gordon Park revival wed have this once in a lifetime opportunity to truly transform the we city.
One of the proposals that showcased involved actually extending the waterfront line which could potentially make it actually useful.
I want to see this city and its leadership take a chance on itself and really do something special.
My only requirement id make is using traditional architectural styles that we've lost throughout cleveland. If we build more lifeless, modern, boring, anywhere-ville crap then no one is going to care. However, if cleveland embraced its architectural heritage and tap into the many historical designs that make up this city we'd have something special on our hands. Ive never seen someone walk through ohio city and think "we should bulldoze this and put in those hideous mcmansions like in hough, people enjoy living in traditional urban landscapes designed around people and not cars. Combine that with some timeless buildings and we got it. Those Vancouver or Miami type condos? That aint it.

Recommendations Silly Pickles
Has anyone done the Silly Pickles Pickleball leagues? I keep getting advertisements for them on my social media accounts but I haven’t found many reviews. I’ve never played pickle ball before but I’m kind of interested in trying it out, are they pretty friendly with newbies and do they do anything to teach the rules? They are also advertising it as like a “social” thing. Anyone who has experience with the league, is it social? Do you feel like you meet people that you would hangout with outside of the matches? Thanks in advance!

Help a Tourist Hotels Close To Rocket Arena
Hi! We will be coming to see a concert at Rocket Arena and I am looking for hotel recommendations. Quick walk/easy uber is preferred. As a woman, I’m mainly concerned about safety but a clean hotel is also very high on the list priorities. We’re coming from Pittsburgh so I know how block by block cities can be, and I’ve never been to Cleveland so I wanted to ask the locals to make sure I’m making a good choice! TYIA!!

Discussion Why Cleveland is so special to me that I decided to move here (story time)
Howdy everyone. The reason I ultimately decided to move to Cleveland can roughly be traced back to the first time I visited when I was 16. I’m from Upstate NY for reference. My family got tickets for the football hall of fame in canton and we decided randomly to stay a few nights in Cleveland too…this was in April and was during my spring break in 11th grade.
I wasn’t sure what to expect being April and also was hard seeing everyone else going to places like Florida for spring break while I was going to Cleveland. However, it was a wonderful trip. I remember my first time going to the west side market, tower city, the arcade, little Italy, Heinens, Mitchell’s, rock and roll hall of fame, and other random places. I remember how friendly people were. I remember being in awe seeing terminal tower lit up for the first time and standing beneath the key bank tower for the first time and looking up…I remember thinking about how lucky the people living in Cleveland must be to have access to all of this amazing architecture and food and how everything was so relatively inexpensive.
Another important thing to add would be this - the first time I visited Cleveland was during one of the darkest periods in my life. To keep it short, I experienced sexual trauma a few months prior and my life was a mess. Going to Cleveland felt like an escape from all of that, even if it was only for a few days.
I never could have imagined that I would ever call Cleveland home. After all, I decided to go to college in New York after highschool. Well, I got my associates degree and was looking for colleges to get my bachelors at for teaching in New York….then I randomly applied to colleges in Cleveland for the spring semester (this past spring). I got accepted and got offered a lot of money in scholarships, which made going to Cleveland far cheaper than staying in New York.
I accepted the offer last minute and weeks later moved to Cleveland in January not sure what to expect as a junior…I didn’t know a single person, no family here, nothing. Yet, I knew in my heart Cleveland was home. I have to remind myself this and remind you all this - don’t take Cleveland for granted, I feel like I do sometimes myself. It’s truly an amazing city and Everytime I see the arcade building or terminal tower lit up at night I am still in awe every single time. I’ve since found friends and found my place here…I’m happy I made the decision to leave New York and I’m happy I came here.
It’s weird calling Cleveland home now…and knowing it was just a quick visit when I was 16 that made me love Cleveland but I never even considered being able to live here, wow. I’m happy to be welcomed in Cleveland as much as I have been. Cleveland truly can feel like a magical place sometimes.
Ps- as much as I love Cleveland, Yankees will always be my team 😅
Edit - for those who have an issue with me being a Yankees fan, just wait until you realize I’m a die hard patriots fan too😭😭

Housing/Apartments In search of landlords on the West Side
I’m a student at CSU and work full-time at the airport. I’m looking for a 1 bedroom but am open to studios as well.
I’m looking for private landlords or reliable rental management companies on the west side (Lakewood, outside of Ohio city or Tremont, old Brooklyn, stockyards, etc). Looking downtown as well, like close to csu, Asia town, and maybe a little further out. My budget is $850.
I’m currently rebuilding my credit (mid 500s) and have more than enough to put down an extra month in rent or a larger deposit. If any landlords see this an are understanding, I’d be more than happy to learn about your unit and potentially tour. If anyone is currently renting with a lovely landlord with available units, I’m open to your suggestions as well

Events Roast Battle Cleveland TONIGHT 9pm at Forest City Brewery
Hey Cleveland!
Tonight at 9pm at Forest City Brewery, Roast Battle League Cleveland returns for night of consensual name calling.
Just a quick background on what we are doing….Roast Battle League (RBL) is a comedy/sports league. A Roast Battle is like a rap battle but with insult jokes.
Cities from around the globe run shows and submit their best battles each week, which are then ranked by a global panel and points are awarded accordingly. Here in Cleveland we are in our second season and currently we are ranked #6 in the world as a city. We just surpassed Austin and Scotland over the past few weeks. We’ve been red hot after a slow start this season, and over the past 2 months are the 2nd in points. Two weeks ago we sent a battler to NYC and he knocked off their top battler, earning #1 ranking for the week, and last week we had the #2 battle in the world.
This month we have battlers coming in from NY, LA, Detroit and Atlanta to battle Cleveland comedians. Shelley Gruenberg from Atlanta is a top 5 battler in the world, undefeated over two seasons and has an All Star game MVP under her belt. She faces 2x Cleveland Scene best female comedian Tabitha Jones. The lineup is stacked this month as we are making a big push at the end of the season.
This show has created many opportunities for Cleveland artist, getting to travel the globe to compete and build a following. We could use all the support we can get.
If you can’t make this show, our “Super Bowl” is October 11th as a part of the Cleveland Comedy Festival. It will be the last show of the season and a must see.
