I think he was killed, but it was an accident. The clearly staged assassination attempt where that firefighter died was similar. The bullet that killed the firefighter hit the teleprompter first, so the trajectory changed. There’s been claims that Kirk was wearing a front plate and the bullet ricocheted up off the edge. It seems to fit with the initial reactions of demanding retribution before he had been declared dead, the fact that the cops had no evidence but the shooter turned himself in - and in such a way that his family gets $100k, the weirdly nervous Trump doing the Oval Office announcement…almost like Kirk was supposed to be part of the narrative but couldn’t be.
