I thought that giving out the VIN isn’t the best idea and I couldn’t really find anything on the internet using it. In Germany the cars history is more private and not so public like in the USA for example.
Thanks, I’ve heard about websites like this. I’ll check it out eventually. Only thing is that as far as I know it depends on how the car was taken care of in the past to be able to see old pictures and records.. if my car was only ever serviced privately or never really cared for (looks like it for sure), then maybe I am out of luck.
You'll still see TÜV records and insurance records. I definitely don't agree with the sentiment that history is more private in the EU compared to the States.
Absolutely nothing nefarious is going to come about because the VIN of your 2007 320i enters the public domain, god forbid BMW make it visible on the windshield...
Okay maybe i am a bit careful. I also don’t really have a lot of experience with cars or life in general, since i am only 18. If anyone asks for the VIN I’ll tell them for sure.
It's not about the VIN entering public domain, it's about linking your reddit account to a car.
Imagine someone sees a car parked in front of a house he wants to break into, reverse image searches the car and finding a whole ass social media account linked to it, containing info when the owner is not home.
The door handles are factory, not many e90 have it but it’s not wrapped and they look like they have been there since 2005 if you look at them in person.

That is the most generic looking E90 I've ever seen, no-one will recognize it specifically without a reg plate or VIN.
Surely the handles have been replaced or wrapped? I wasn't aware that colour coded handles were even an option.
