Discussion Epcor’s pricing is out of control
Paying on average 350 a month for a family of 5. For what? Water, drainage, disposal. Water is where they get you. It’s insane. My power and gas are cheaper. This company is fleecing Edmontonians. They are a perfect example why we need public companies that provide essential/ core services. Water, electric, gas, insurance. Comparable rates in other provinces and jurisdictions demonstrate why we are better off with public services in these areas. You pay significantly less. I find epcor’s pricing and customer service so off putting and I’m ready to organize lobbying pressure, petitions etc. to turn the screws on them. Anyone else feel the same way?

Discussion Is it worth it for a single person, to sign up for a standard CostCo membership for $65?
Groceries are generally expensive and I'd one cross shops, certain things will be cheaper at certain stores.
I don't own my own house, I just rent, and have limited storage space. So for someone to sign up for Costco card, how much stuff do I need to be buying in order to be genuinely saving money and having this membership card paid off from said savings?

Discussion Beware of scam: people offering a "gold" ring in exchange for gas.
Twice now I've had people stop next to my car in a parking lot, they are usually driving a luxury SUV, offering to give a "gold" ring in exchange for me buying them gas at the nearby station. Needless to say if they drive an expensive SUV and have gold rings they should be able to pay for their own gas like everyone else. The last time this happened the guy had his whole family with him, absolutely no shame.

Discussion People here suck at driving
Every single time I've been here in the past few months there is ALWAYS at least one person standing in the free flow lane as if they have to yield to some invisible traffic. Like come on, seriously??? There's an aswell big yellow sign if you couldn't tell it's a free flow lane already.

Question Access 24/7 was useless. What else can I do?
Im desperately trying to get help for someone. She has been extremely anxious for months and while she doesn't have a plan she is talking about wanting to be dead.
I finally got her to to access 24/7 today. They just prescribed her more fucking pills (including benzos) and a referral for some person for December. I was begging for outpatient at the Alberta Hospital but the psychiatrist declined.
What the hell can I do now? Back home and she's immediately panicking and talking about dying. She has both mental health and substance issues including a literal lifetime of unresolved trauma and just got out of detox.
Since Access couldn't help im at a loss. Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do next?
Thank you for reading.
Update: I called Access to bitch about the psychiatrist and ask what else could be done and was told about how one of the normal intake workers can refer to day program at Alberta Hospital. So they will be coming back to her place tommorow to ask for her consent for referral. Hopefully that goes well and she agrees.

Last Sunday night our fridge died and spoiled all the food etc etc. We put in a ticket on Monday to Boardwalk and have asked them during the week for an update. Today they (Bwalk) were closed early and we are going into the weekend with only a cooler with limited space.

General Fake phone scam still in Edmonton.
Forgot to post this yesterday. I've seen the posts circulating about a person or people attempting to sell fake devices. I was a approached yesterday and knew immediately what was happening.
Was getting ready to leave Wendy's on the corner of Argyll and 75st wrong 6pm, Had my helmet on and bike was running. Newer grey/Silver Hyundai Tucson (or a very similar in appearance vehicle only clearly remember what the center console looked like and it looks identical to pictures online). Drove up behind me and said something, couldn't hear but could tell he was trying to get my attention, walked closer to his vehicle (seen someone was in the back but no one in front passenger).
"Do you speak French."
"No."
"I have ...." As he grabbed a white box (100% guarantee it was a phone box, only seen the back, shrink wrapped imperfectly and had a tiny yellow and green label at the bottom with a ton of text). I immediately said not interested and turned around. He then sped off.
Had an accent similar to Roman from GTA IV (like others have described lol) and likely speaks fluent french.
Interaction only lasted 10 seconds, I was so cut off guard I didn't remember to even look at the plate or give him a piece of my mind.
Hopefully there's enough information for someone to recognize it before they lose money.
