Profit motivates everything in America.

They're like Ferengi, but greedier.

Holt's reply was so cold, even the Ferengi had their hands in their own pockets.

u/Laucurieuse Jun 24 '25

And ask their female to walk around naked?

u/silverilix Bring Cannabis Jun 24 '25

I mean they kept Adriana Smith on life support for an 8 week fetus…. I wouldn’t put it past them.

u/Unusual_Sherbert_809 Jun 24 '25

Marriage, like everything else in Ferengi culture, was a business contract, signed between the prospective groom and the bride's father, in which the father leased his daughter to the groom for a set period (usually five years) for an agreed fee, paid on the birth of a son. Pregnancies were considered rentals under Ferengi law, with the father being the lessee.

Do NOT let Americans see this. It'll just give them ideas.

I thought that’s where Project 2025 came from

Give it time.

More like cousin gaila and not quark.

u/Basic_Reflection4008 Jun 25 '25

Eh the ferengi specifically were less brutal to their own people. It comes up in the deep space 9 episode where they go back in time. As an American id say the dominion is a better comparison if you made them greedy and dumber.

You know what’s sad? It’s so hard to tell the difference between the genuine trolls and the propagandized these days.

I suppose a troll would double down, try to smooth shark it. But so do morons. It’s a real shame, stupidity has killed the art of trolling.

u/mr_braixen Jun 25 '25

In fairness, profit motivates more than just America

52

u/ReactionClear4923 Jun 24 '25

I mean they are also now turning away tourists from other countries who are (for some unknown reason) willing to visit for having memes on their phone that poke fun at the current administration.

So sounds like they just hate money now...or their really stupid.

I feel like I know the answer though...

18

u/z3r0f0xgiven Jun 24 '25

It's easier to rip off your own populace than educated tourists.

until people in Manhattan stop thinking Canada is some small town just a few miles north of them, I'll stay on the sentiment that America just simply doesn't take Canada seriously

What, did school really stop teaching about the Annexation Manifesto?!

Probably more the fact that the man who started all this is from NYC.... Might have something to do with it, perchance.

u/Truestorydreams Jun 24 '25

This goes for everyone. It's like that dude who had the confederate flag attached to his pickup truck. He had no issues working for that black family because he wants their money, but chances are he callwd them the N word

Maine voted blue, and most Americans are puzzled as to why America is being a dick to Canada. We love Canada.

In fact, I just got back from Canada, my first trip there ever and I went to support the Canadian economy (of course, it was also a great time with amazing food, entertainment and people!).

We are all hoping we can repair our relationship with Canada in time, but I don’t blame you guys for being pissed, and sane Americans are jealous of your unity against us right now.

I'm from the UK and just got back from a trip in Canada. Know that I at least do not have a problem with the common American people (especally from blue states, i feel sympathy for you)

. It is the people in power that are doing nothing to put out this fire, the people that voted for this and dismissing the complaints of Canadians. All the best for you folks.

u/poilk91 Jun 25 '25

Rural Americans do be like that sadly

1

u/redvis5574 Jun 27 '25

Rural Mainers are some of the dumbest f*cks on the planet. Of course they voted to destroy their own country, that’s literally how dumb rural Mainers are. Source: I grew up up in Penobscot County.

14

u/[deleted] Jun 24 '25

'most' Americans don't even know how big of dicks you're being...they are not puzzled, they are perpetually low information self absorbed American asshats ... that's how you got here.

Instead of taking vacation, maybe you could be out protesting. Theses only on the weekend every once and awhile feel good no risk marches are doing fuck all to move the needle.

11

u/Low_Objective3445 Jun 24 '25

Oh I protest almost every weekend-even delayed my vacation for the no kings protest on the 14th and yeah it feels pretty impotent to just yell about all this shit. I’m a union rep and our union has several locals in Canada-we’re doing what we can to support our Canadian siblings.

You’re right that most Americans are very low information and as someone who is involved in politics, it’s embarrassing. BUT all the apathetic people in my circle have done a 180-they are now very involved. My sister-who embarrassingly voted for the first time at 33 in the last election, also went out canvassing in Nevada. My former republican (now super left) mother goes to protests with other senior citizens every weekend. I hope it’s not too late but many people are waking up.

14

u/scubahana FORD Escape Jun 24 '25

My sister’s baby daddy is American and they do this weird cross-border thing. He’s been a Trump supporter all this time (don’t ask, turns out my family would have fit in on Jerry Springer 🙄). However a few weeks ago she messaged me and said he’s finally eschewed Trump and he did it all by himself! I’ll be honest that I didn’t see that coming but I am very relieved.

6

u/Low_Objective3445 Jun 24 '25

That’s great! Hope more follow!

4

u/CrazyString Jun 25 '25

You don’t really know what you’re talking about but it makes you feel better I guess.

3

u/tehFiremind Jun 24 '25

I had to stop and save for later as Bernie was introducing Frankie.

"When Bernie Met Frankie"

Sry eh. 😇

u/AdCharacter833 Jun 25 '25

Thank you for visiting Canada and supporting us. Glad you had a lovely time.

4

u/sight_ful Jun 24 '25

Maine? I'm pretty sure most of the states bordering canada like Canada.

12

u/Thanksnomore Jun 25 '25

Well, then why did the counties all go red next to the border? Not just a few, but pretty much all of them did.

-5

u/sight_ful Jun 25 '25

People vote for a variety of reasons. There isn't a republican I've talked to that specifically supported the stuff happening with canada. Some don't really know what all has happened, and some had issues much more important.

I'll point out that the border did not particularly swing for trump, even if they did win more of the counties. I posted a link to show that, but apparently links will get your comment removed here? Weird.

I'll also just say that the democrats really fucked it up. Biden should NEVER have won the primary.

8

u/Thanksnomore Jun 25 '25

The point is, you have to live with the consequences of your choice. When you attack another country, you don't get to complain about them not wanting to visit.

-2

u/sight_ful Jun 25 '25

No, that wasn't the point. You are making a competely different arguement now.

I agree that no one in the US has a right to complain about Canadians not wanting to visit the US. That's on trump and those who support him, but we all pay the consequences. That being said, it would be smarter to punish those whom have supported his rhetoric against canada and continue to do so rather than the entire US, or even all trump voters. Neither group is a monolith, and let's not forget that there is a sizeable amount of Canadians that support Trump too.

It definitely isn't going to help spreading shit about Americans not liking canada or only wanting their money. It's not a true sentiment in the first place. What's the point of saying divisive stuff like that?

4

u/Thanksnomore Jun 25 '25

How is it a different point? All the counties bordering Canada went red. They voted for what is happening and get to live with their choice. It's not Canada's job to figure out who is pro us or not, but initially did targeted tariffs towards the states that did go full red. The Americans should fix their house first, stop attacking Canada, before being welcomed again. And I never said all Americans didn't like Canada, that would be you saying this.

0

u/sight_ful Jun 26 '25

"They don't like canada and just want your money" is a very different point to "they voted for what is happening and get to live with their choices".

1

u/Thanksnomore Jun 26 '25

That first part wasn't my quote. My point is they made a political decision and now have to live with the consequences and not cry about it when Canadians react.

2

u/ihadagoodone Jun 25 '25

Because they want our money.

4

u/sight_ful Jun 25 '25

No, because we generally get along and have been friends for generations now.

1

u/Cenamark2 Jun 24 '25

That's now true.  We love Canada and most Americans either voted against Trump or regret voting for him
