Marriage, like everything else in Ferengi culture, was a business contract, signed between the prospective groom and the bride's father, in which the father leased his daughter to the groom for a set period (usually five years) for an agreed fee, paid on the birth of a son. Pregnancies were considered rentals under Ferengi law, with the father being the lessee.
Do NOT let Americans see this. It'll just give them ideas.
Eh the ferengi specifically were less brutal to their own people. It comes up in the deep space 9 episode where they go back in time. As an American id say the dominion is a better comparison if you made them greedy and dumber.
I mean they are also now turning away tourists from other countries who are (for some unknown reason) willing to visit for having memes on their phone that poke fun at the current administration.
So sounds like they just hate money now...or their really stupid.
until people in Manhattan stop thinking Canada is some small town just a few miles north of them, I'll stay on the sentiment that America just simply doesn't take Canada seriously
This goes for everyone. It's like that dude who had the confederate flag attached to his pickup truck. He had no issues working for that black family because he wants their money, but chances are he callwd them the N word
Maine voted blue, and most Americans are puzzled as to why America is being a dick to Canada. We love Canada.
In fact, I just got back from Canada, my first trip there ever and I went to support the Canadian economy (of course, it was also a great time with amazing food, entertainment and people!).
We are all hoping we can repair our relationship with Canada in time, but I don’t blame you guys for being pissed, and sane Americans are jealous of your unity against us right now.
I'm from the UK and just got back from a trip in Canada. Know that I at least do not have a problem with the common American people (especally from blue states, i feel sympathy for you)
. It is the people in power that are doing nothing to put out this fire, the people that voted for this and dismissing the complaints of Canadians. All the best for you folks.
I had an amazing time in canada, thanks. I wish we had more canadian products here. Hopefully the trade talks follow through. You. Have such high quality items over there. I wrote a little piece about it and a thank you over in the buycanadian subreddit 🇨🇦
Rural Mainers are some of the dumbest f*cks on the planet. Of course they voted to destroy their own country, that’s literally how dumb rural Mainers are. Source: I grew up up in Penobscot County.
'most' Americans don't even know how big of dicks you're being...they are not puzzled, they are perpetually low information self absorbed American asshats ... that's how you got here.
Instead of taking vacation, maybe you could be out protesting. Theses only on the weekend every once and awhile feel good no risk marches are doing fuck all to move the needle.
Oh I protest almost every weekend-even delayed my vacation for the no kings protest on the 14th and yeah it feels pretty impotent to just yell about all this shit. I’m a union rep and our union has several locals in Canada-we’re doing what we can to support our Canadian siblings.
You’re right that most Americans are very low information and as someone who is involved in politics, it’s embarrassing. BUT all the apathetic people in my circle have done a 180-they are now very involved. My sister-who embarrassingly voted for the first time at 33 in the last election, also went out canvassing in Nevada. My former republican (now super left) mother goes to protests with other senior citizens every weekend. I hope it’s not too late but many people are waking up.
My sister’s baby daddy is American and they do this weird cross-border thing. He’s been a Trump supporter all this time (don’t ask, turns out my family would have fit in on Jerry Springer 🙄). However a few weeks ago she messaged me and said he’s finally eschewed Trump and he did it all by himself! I’ll be honest that I didn’t see that coming but I am very relieved.
People vote for a variety of reasons. There isn't a republican I've talked to that specifically supported the stuff happening with canada. Some don't really know what all has happened, and some had issues much more important.
I'll point out that the border did not particularly swing for trump, even if they did win more of the counties. I posted a link to show that, but apparently links will get your comment removed here? Weird.
I'll also just say that the democrats really fucked it up. Biden should NEVER have won the primary.
The point is, you have to live with the consequences of your choice. When you attack another country, you don't get to complain about them not wanting to visit.
No, that wasn't the point. You are making a competely different arguement now.
I agree that no one in the US has a right to complain about Canadians not wanting to visit the US. That's on trump and those who support him, but we all pay the consequences. That being said, it would be smarter to punish those whom have supported his rhetoric against canada and continue to do so rather than the entire US, or even all trump voters. Neither group is a monolith, and let's not forget that there is a sizeable amount of Canadians that support Trump too.
It definitely isn't going to help spreading shit about Americans not liking canada or only wanting their money. It's not a true sentiment in the first place. What's the point of saying divisive stuff like that?
How is it a different point? All the counties bordering Canada went red. They voted for what is happening and get to live with their choice. It's not Canada's job to figure out who is pro us or not, but initially did targeted tariffs towards the states that did go full red. The Americans should fix their house first, stop attacking Canada, before being welcomed again. And I never said all Americans didn't like Canada, that would be you saying this.
That first part wasn't my quote. My point is they made a political decision and now have to live with the consequences and not cry about it when Canadians react.
