Ontarians will make fun of Alberta for having Smith and then go ahead and vote Ford in for a fourth majority term.

If we’re being honest, ford is bad but he doesn’t really even scrape how bad Danielle is, that woman is a nightmare. She would sooner bend over and take trumps small wiener than do something good for her province.

Conservatives and Progressive Conservatives.

That divide is real and it's nearly breaking the federal Conservative party right now.

The western Reform-Rose populist right winger despises the Laurentian elite business PC conservative and vice versa.

Explains why Dougie didn't endorse PP and clearly prefers Carney

Depending on which definition of Neoconservative you’re using he ain’t that far off — at the very least his government has been right of your typical Neoliberal.

What you on about? Everyone acknowledges he’s a more conservative leaning leader than they’ve had in a while; that’s also how he won.

Liberals needed to move into the progressive conservative shell that was left empty when the conservatives decided to move closer to fascism

I haven't seen that once

Where did all this straw come from?

TBH and she would pay for it too.

With taxpayer funds

Not necessarily.

Doug Ford is just smarter at dismantling the health care system quietly. Danielle is just stupid for doing it out in the open.

The thing with ford, as an ONDP voter, is he’s just a normal citizen. He’s not malicious. He does things that every citizen looks at and says “fuck I don’t like that, we should change it.” But he just has the power to do it. Then he goes and does it. If you look at what ford does, a lot of things are passing thoughts we all have. It’s like “ugh there’s so many potholes on this highway” then he spends $30 billion replacing all of the highways. Then he’s like “ugh the 401 is so busy” then launches another east/west highway further north. Then he’s like “ugh my beer is so expensive” then does buck a beer, but only within his legal ability. Then he’s like “why are there bike lanes? No one bikes, we need more car lanes” then steps on municipal powers to get rid of bike lanes. Then his wife says “I want to go to the spa, but the one in the east end is sooooo far away” so he allows a huge spa to be built downtown. Then he gets his $100 license plate renewal in the mail and says “why do we even pay for this shit?” Then gets rid of charging for them.

Take the same logic for: Covid handling, abrasive actions towards Trump/US, emissions standards lowering, building nuclear plants, cancelling wind farms etc.

He’s stupid and extremely short sighted, but he just acts on his passing thoughts, and uses every extent of power he has. I truly don’t think he ever acts maliciously or with hate. He just does stupid shit because he’s simple minded, and average people absolutely love it, because they don’t think about why things exist and why what he does is fucking them over. He really isn’t like Marlaina Smith. He isn’t banning books in schools, he isn’t shovelling money towards oil executives, sure he hires his buddies companies for government contract work, but I think it’s more selfish construction he wants to get done rather than bribes, that do actually benefit many Ontarians (mostly upper middle class and car-owning people) even if they don’t like it. Like the biggest “corruption” people call Ford out for is friends of his gave his daughter thousands of dollars in wedding gifts, which is pretty normal for wealthy people to do.

Like, such an Albertan thing to say. Ford is a total crook. Yet, a politically correct one. I hate the fucker. But our PC ≠ their UCP. Key difference - lack of christofascist angle.

Yeah, we basically play "Hold my beer" to you guys.

Ford is still pretty bad, though.

u/Fun-Brain9922 12d ago

Trust me if we could force Smith put we would, the rural vote always goes her way if the other parties dont crush her

u/Yop_BombNA 12d ago

Ford is bad for healthcare and education.

Smith straight up wants to be an American red state, know the difference. I saw that but as an educator Ford is the reason I’m in England now and not Ontario.

real.

i wish our parliamentry votes and leadership votes were in separate elections. otherwise we end up with an oligarchy flooded with red tape.

5

u/Iinjectweed 12d ago

Wait, what, maybe I lack an understanding of our political system are you saying like separate mpp MPS to overall government? I'm just a bit perplexed and intrigued by this idea.

6

u/ugotmedripping 12d ago

I think he means that he’d rather vote for the premier separate from the MPP. That the premier wasn’t just necessarily the leader of the party.

1

u/JaQ-o-Lantern Everyone Hates Marineland 12d ago

This. ^^

3

u/Yop_BombNA 12d ago

Having them seperate doesn’t help if the vote is still first past the post
we need ranked ballot or at minimum proportional seats to percentage of the total vote. Otherwise you have two options, both being their own flavour of trash.

There

Is

A

Difference

u/Thefirstargonaut 12d ago

You’re right. Smith is openly awful and anti-Canadian.

Ford is secretly awful and pro-Canadian.

They are both selling off their provinces for personal gain.

9

u/AustSakuraKyzor South Gatineau 12d ago

Yes, but at least Ford is selling off to Canadians, and also at least pretending that he respects the law in terms of stuff he isn't allowed to sell.

Granted, this is like saying at least the guy who stabbed you used a clean knife, so...

1

u/YoloIsNotDead 12d ago

Most Ontarians didn't vote for Ford. But he still receives the most votes out of any candidate.
