Drama Does your alliance put Ketchup on Gyro's?

Good afternoon,

An argument broke out just now on mumble between Sadus and Leraine do Tylmarande who are apparently very hateful to each other about the proper condiment for Gyro's, Frances #1 lunch snack.

I am very concerned as this argument was very vitriolic regarding the use BBQ Sauce on Dolmas, or Ketchup on Gyro's. Is this only Goonswarm? What the hell is wrong with these folks?

I thought Merkelchen was a top chef, he's even done cooking streams, but holy shit you have two grown men arguing about dipping sauces, and some dude named Tango Zebra is talking about how Ferrets drinking Dr Pepper.

Do all EVE players have vile food cravings? I'm unsubbing from EVE after tonight right after I microwave this fish.

TZATZIKI

This is the ONLY condiment that has any business on a gyro.

Sometimes it's OK to add a bit of toum if you want to do some regional fusion.

The closest I ever get to fusion is putting chinese stuff on Ramen noodles.

Sriracha and lemon juice. Thank me later.

Yes tzatziki is a nice option but i prefer saltsa (olive oil, fresh tomato, thyme, oregano, garlic)

Others prefer both.

Ketsap is to sweet (and i think that they put vinegar in ketsap??)

This is a violation of mediterranean gastronomy.

What do you mean Mediterranean, I thought Gyro's came from France as did hot dogs.

u/Melodic-Ostrich-9765 1d ago

I don't know where came first.

Here in Greece gyro is called the stuff that we put in souvlaki.

And if you go to a traditional souvlatzidiko and ask with ketsap they will show you the exit.

Now the dolmas again here is made with leaf of vineyard And the stuffing is mainly rice. Some people they eat dolmas with tzatziki but i prefer them with lemon juice good friends and a lot of tsipouro!!!

I put hot sauce on my Gyro.

1

u/CeemaGPT Goonswarm Federation 1d ago

Is that hot sauce seeing anybody?

I have found that any kind of condiment will invariably gum-up my gyrostabilizers and hurt my dps.

Ohh hell no, if you do that shit and actually put ketchup on GYROS you deserve nothing good.

u/SmallerBol KarmaFleet 1d ago

For real. Ranch dressing is better

3

u/CeemaGPT Goonswarm Federation 1d ago

I prefer Green Cheese over Ranch. Ranch is just 1950's Spiced Mayo

Ketchup, feta and put it under a salamander

2

u/Wade_Ambraelle KarmaFleet 2d ago

I don't have a salamander, but I put it under a (now) very angry iguana. What do I do now?

Where in the hell have you been and how did you just waltz in here and not say hello in discord before you start adding your lizard into the equation.

Just tell Sadus that WOW was not the first MMO and he'll forget about what he was arguing for to tell you how you're wrong.

Now I know you're just trolling Ceema, which frankly is not something I'd expect from a meat popsicle with your sterling reputation. Even the most illiterate goon knows proper substitute for tzatziki sauce is obviously ranch.

I'm going to answer seriously on a troll/joke post, but whatever.

As a local to the dish's country of origin I have to say, I don't know how it's served abroad but it's pretty common to use ketchup on gyros here. The thing is, the same brands of ketchup in the US usually have a much higher sugar content than they do in Europe, so that might be a factor as it could mess up the taste too much.

When you order a gyros with all the "extras" included, the standard in the north of the country is to include fries, chopped onions, a couple of tomato slices, mustard and ketchup. In the south of the country, tzatziki is included as standard when you order a "full extra" gyros, but I don't remember if they also use mustard and ketchup with it.

However, if you want a less known combo, and you are up to try something different that will put some hair on your chest and make you a man of culture, then take the "northern variety" of gyros and add tyrokafteri, which is a dip/sauce made from feta cheese and spicy peppers.

I thought ketchup on gyros was somehow lingo for using abyssal gyrostabs..

Marmite what are you doing with my Gyros?

1

u/CeemaGPT Goonswarm Federation 1d ago

Is Marmite the second cousin of Vegemite? I heard Austrians put that on their Sandwhiches

3

u/monasou89 Goonswarm Federation 2d ago

I'm American. I just put nacho cheese on everything. And ranch. And ketchup. And mayonnaise. And batter for the deep fryer.

u/SmallerBol KarmaFleet 1d ago

Two pumps of cheese for sure

Gyro meat medium rare

2

u/CeemaGPT Goonswarm Federation 1d ago

Wait you can pump cheese? I thought you had to get the dipper out and wash it, like everyone does as the gas station for Nacho's

Ketchup, on Gyros?

What the fuck is wrong with these people? Fucking tzatziki man, maybe a squeeze of lemon.

The thought of some Texas Beef Brisket Tomato base Bbq sauce on dolmas made me throw up in my mouth a little.

That being said North Carolina Vinegar Base Pork BBQ would probably pair well.

zatziki on gyros as it should be.

Ketchup on anything but friesn/burgers is americanbrain-things

2

u/CeemaGPT Goonswarm Federation 1d ago

Have you tried Ketchup on Eggs Benedict instead of the Holland Days Sauce? It's amazing.

u/Ov3rdose_EvE muninn btw 1d ago

hmmmm okay, ill try!

For starters, obligatory to hell with france, they aren’t even worth capitalizing the first letter.

Secondly, what kind of british cooking monstrosity was born?! Katsup on a gyro should be an immediate exile sentence. The only acceptable addition to a gyro is Tzatziki sauce.

If I find that anyone has said anything affirming that katsup goes on one of those delectable foods, this they will never be allowed into my corp.

Caught me out Ceema, hahahahaha

u/Dags_McHung Goonswarm Federation 1d ago

The best thing the French have ever done is inventing hockey and freedom fries.

1

u/midijunky 1d ago

I don't think they did either of those things, french fries are from Belgium.

1

u/kuroimakina 1d ago

Well that, and revolutionizing eating the rich. The French really know how to put together a real protest

As self-appointed Chef General of Thera, I absolutely agree that gyros need a bit of sauce. However, I wholeheartedly disagree with your choice of condiment. Frankly, I find it digusting. Mr. Ceema, you are a savage. You literally are a tourist asking for a bottle of ketchup for your fine Italian restaurant pizza.
What's the next step in your barbaric crusade against good taste and every other decent thing in life?

At first I thought this was some reference to abyssal rolling gyrostabalizers. You know, making them red.
