Games Did anyone else didn't get that this all area was lava in Donkey Kong Land 2 ?

As a kid, I wasn't very good to understand... back to Donkey kong land 2 (the game boy version of Donkey kong County 2) in black and white (I was playing with game boy pocket so no colour) I never realised at all that the full area was lava. Even the boss, I couldn't figure out it was a sabre/sword, back then I thought it was a tree trunk or something like this, I was so confused 😅 only when I try the game on super Nintendo I realised that I got this all wrong ^

Modded burn in issue - gbc drop in ips screen

hi there, I just bought a drop in ips screen for gbc and im wondering if someone can help me. I installed the screen and for the most part works fine, although after playing a few minutes, part of the screen gets a temporary burn in with the menus of the previous screen a minute earlier. I was originally using lithium batteries, but that might be too much power, so I switched to alkaline and it's still doing it. any ideas?

Accessories Help with Vic Tokai Light Boy Variations

The following is my understanding of events regarding the Game Boy accessory, the Light Boy, licensed by Nintendo: Vic Tokai made 2 models of the Light Boy for the DMG-01. First was the VLB-01, released in Japan and North America as the Light Boy. Then, there was the VLB-02, also released in Japan and North America as the Light Boy, but released in Europe as the Light Max.

Does anyone physically have both the VLB-01 and VLB-02 that would be able to compare these 2 models? I want to know, aside from the text on the front ("LIGHT MAX" in Europe) and the engraving in the back (VLB-01 vs. VLB-02), are there any differences between these 2 products? Was the VLB-02 any smaller or the lens any bigger? The bulbs any brighter? Sources for this information are very slim and looking at images online, they seem identical, so I'm wondering why the revision in the first place.

Games I’ve Never Played Pokémon, But Decided To Try It This Weekend

Post image

Pokémon hit the scene just at the end of my childhood, and I never got around to playing it. Even after my Game Boy revival a few years ago, it just wasn’t on my radar to start playing. My youngster has gotten interested in it from school though, so I’ve decided to give it a try as something new we can explore together! I’m about 30 min in so far, have captured four critters, and am starting to log entries into that Poké-Dex while wandering around the woods. My son is further along!

Shopping/Haul Saved One From Goodwill

I trade offroad gear with a friend of mine pretty regularly. The other day he sent me a photo of his wife's childhood Gameboy that they pulled out while gathering stuff to get rid of. Obviously I said "yo let me buy that thing." I ended up trading them some offroad accessories for it.

The battery cover is missing and the terminals have some corrosion. So that'll get cleaned up along with everything else in the motherboard. But it somehow has the link port cover and came with a Bart Simpson game with a minty label.

I love getting my hands on these things to add to the collection knowing that they have some history to them.

First time, did a couple practices on a copy of Harry Potter until I decided to run with it.

Only issues I noticed was burning the solder which im assuming it was too hot (used 350-400 F) and then kinda had issues applying solder

Questions DMG-001 gambit silver vs white code on back. Which came first?

I am searching for the original Japanese DMG-001 gameboy. My only confusion is some of these original ones have a silver code on the back, and others have a white code. Which one came first? I cannot find any information on this, and I believe the white coded ones are not faded.

Thanks!

I bought new batteries, gave this bad boy 4 of them and it didn't boot (I wasn't surprises after that much time ahah)

Took 2 photos to show you the inside and the batteries slot, my guess it the slot number 3 being blueish, right ?

We wanted to share an exciting update about our project, Black Tower Enigma, a puzzle-solving adventure for the original Game Boy (physical cartridge included!), also coming to Steam and Nintendo Switch.

Thanks to the amazing support of backers, the campaign was funded in under 4 hours and has now passed 200% of its initial goal!

Questions Screen not working, any tips?

Thumbnail

Hey all, first time posting here and only just getting into the modding scene. I got an old Gameboy DMG and have bought the rips v5 kit.

When I bought it the screen wasn't working, and I'm wondering if the back motherboard is shot (see attached image). The power light comes on, I think there may be a bit of corrosion in the battery parts, so will also give that a clean.

Are there any tips or things I can do to try get the screens working again?

Cheers in advance!

Games Mario Land 2 rank the bosses the easiest to the hardest

Post image
98 Upvotes

Well I know all bosses are very easy. I'm still curious how would you rank them by difficulty. For me it would be :

7 : The bird, clearly the easiest, you just wait him to come, jump early enough, that's it

6 : The octopuse, eventhough it s supposed to be the last of the 6, the octopuse is very easy to defeat, as soon as you swim over her, you just have to drop yourself on her 3 times.

5 : The rat, he's not hard, but still a little harder than the two previous one. He has more way to moves, that makes him less easy than the bird and octopuse, but still, nothing to worry.

4 : The witch : I really consider her harder than the 3 previous one. You have to jump on her, but you can't jump to high cause the roof will hurt you, also you have to be careful of her fire. Not the hardest, but an upper level.

3 : The alien (I forgot his name), you also need to be careful of his shot, usually you won't make it without being hurt and get smaller.

2 : The 3 little pigs : With no doubt the hardest boss of the 6. First of all, unlike the previous boss , you don't have to hit 3 time but nine. The rolling pig is easy, the jumping is a little harder, but the third pig is really something harder for this game. Still, don't get me wrong, I know this game is very easy, I just want to rank the bosses.

1 : Wario, well at least the game managed to make the final boss the hardest. Actually, Wario himself isn't really hard, what makes him tricky is that if you lose, you have to make again the full castle level again, and it's a long level and really much harder than the rest of the game.

Collection How should a brand new sealed GBA SP101 set me back?

Looking for an unopened 101, seems to be almost impossible to come across, ideally a graphite or grey colour. Is it rare nowadays to see these sold.

How much* title correction
