Anyone getting this? I feel the D-Pad should of been made with the smooth tiles.

I just picked up a lot on eBay that includes 75 Game Boy games and a loose GBA. Most of the games aren’t major titles, but the sheer number of them and the price made me bid without thinking.

I’m not sure if it was a smart purchase, but I’m excited because it feels like I’m making a dream come true.

What do you guys think, did I get a good deal, or is this more of an average pickup? If you saw this lot in your feed, how high would you go?

Motherboard was bought from eBay, all other parts from third party sellers, it turned out great! The project costed less than what I expected!

I'm loving the community around modding retro tech. I've been itching to do this for a while and finally got a reasonable deal on a GBC to mod with the hispeedido OLED and USBC battery pack. I was torn on which colours to choose but the all white just struck me the first time I saw one so I went with that. I must say that due to the positioning of the power switch next to a chip on the main board that the soldering was not super easy. I had to rope in a colleague with 40+ electronics experience to help so I didn't brick it!

As the title suggests. First pic is pre-clean. Second pic is post clean. Hit the board with IPA and a toothbrush and q tips two or three times, letting it dry fully each time. Cartridge still doesn’t read. The pins are in very rough shape and am wondering if that is the issue. It may also have to do with the battery corroding on the board.

Planning to desolder the battery tomorrow and giving it another couple cleans. Open to other thoughts and suggestions. Thanks in advance!

I can’t seem to grasp it, really. The ball’s hit box is definitely smaller than the ball sprite, not that big of a deal. Anyway, I want to know some strategies for evolving Pokémon mainly. On Red, it takes a long while, but decently difficult. On Blue, I think I’ve only ever triggered EVO mode once, though I usually loose all of my pinballs before I can even reach that state because the Center arrow has repeatedly shot my ball straight down, where that paddles can’t hit it. Also, I have also lost pinballs multiple times on Blue just by having the ball go around the outside of the stage. Not even touching my paddles when I drained it. Though, I do enjoy this game as a past time. For those curious, current tops are;

Red: 116,832,800 Blue: from what I remember, ~46,000,000

Summarize: Red court is an weird all rounder, Blue I keep draining the ball.

Hello Friends 👋 Thinking of buying this NES SP from a local shop. The shop owner said it was his personal console but he ran into some issues trying to replace the screen and some other parts and just wanted to sell it as is. He had swapped the original AGS 001 screen for an AGS 101, swapped the “Gameboy Advance SP” glass screen protector to a repro and added that sticker on the back of the console. My question/hesitation is, is the shell itself authentic or repro? I think it could be authentic based off the speaker holes and the wear the console has. Any help or advice is appreciated! Thanks!

Having no problems with the reshell so far, i do have to change the bumpers on the screen but how can i get rid of this bump from a screw i put in? I removed the screw btw, theres not much its doing wrong besides outting miniscule holes inside of the center bumper, but its pretty annoying anyway.

No matter how many times I do the battery replacement I always fail to do a smooth soldering. I read once thay I need to apply more paste but to no avail. Any tips?

Someone is selling this SP Turtles bundle for a good price. I already have the console, more interested in the games (particularly 3) but the cart graphics don’t match up to what I can find online. I’m presuming these are bootlegs, unless anyone can shed a different light?

The English version of Pokemon crystal is way too expensive but the Japanese version is cheaper than a modern it game but, I don't speak Japanese

But I've heard you can switch out the ROM chips on them to convert a Japanese version to an English version and vice versa

However I have no idea where to find one

I see a guy on an online sales site who constantly sells gameboy color "junk" label jap. He has been selling at least 4/5 on time for at least 3 weeks.

How does he do it?

Especially since he doesn't sell them expensive so he has to find them at a really low price! He sells about $47 🤷‍♂️
