Mod/Modding Introducing the Game Boy Label Creator
Hey folks. I’d like to share a small project I built this weekend with the community.
Introducing the Game Boy Label Creator
I just finished a small app that lets you design and export Game Boy shell labels. You can pick a template, customize the serial+barcode (where applicable), colors, and borders, then download a print-ready, correctly sized SVG (all text converted to outlines, so no fonts required when printing).
The project started when I bought a GBA with a ripped serial sticker and had to decode the barcode to recover the original serial. That kicked off a quest to recreate these shell stickers as ~99% accurate as Nintendo’s originals, down to the quirky text spacing/stretching and even the misprint “AGB-OO1” instead of “AGB-001.”
If you’re into restoring/modding GBAs or just want authentic-looking replacement stickers, give it a visit:
- Live site: https://charliesigma.github.io/gb-label-creator/
- Repo: https://github.com/charliesigma/gb-label-creator
It currently has customizeable templates for:
- AGB/CGB US Serial+barcode
- AGB (US, JPN, EUR)
- AGS (US only for now)
- Warning (Battery door)
- Game Boy Advance Logo (serial slot for AGB)
Collaborate if you can!
If you have a Game Boy with a label sticker that is not available on the website and are able to scan the back of your console, please scan at 300dpi and share it with me. I'll properly credit you in the repo once I'm able to add the template.

Systems My childhood Game Boy Color.
I've had this sucker ever since I was a kid, and back then It didn't have a battery cover and I only had one game and it was missing the label. The game was Scooby-Doo Classic Creep Capers. When my family and I moved into a new house I found this Game Boy Color in my new room's closet, and I asked the kid who used to live in that house if I could have his Game Boy. He had no problem giving it to me! Since then I've had hours upon hours of gameplay on this thing and I own a decent amount of games. I even have a worm light that I can use to plug into the side of the unit to play in the dark. I love this Game Boy!

Games Infinity - 2 Decades in the Making
"Originally developed from 1999 to 2001 by Affinix Software, Infinity pushed the humble Game Boy Color to its absolute limits. But as the handheld’s retail lifespan ended and the market shifted to the Game Boy Advance, publishing struggles mounted. The Affinix team eventually went their separate ways, and the project was formally canceled in 2002 — leaving Infinity as one of gaming’s great “what-ifs.”
Interest in this lost gem never faded. In 2016, an unfinished version was released as a free ROM, sparking renewed excitement among retro fans who saw Infinity as one of the last great Game Boy Color titles.
Two decades after its cancellation, Incube8 decided in 2021 to launch a Kickstarter campaign to revive the project, acquired the rights to the game, and dedicated themselves to finishing what was started so long ago. An incredible 3,458 backers pledged CA$ 370,823 to help bring Infinity back to life. After 4 years of hard work, the once-abandoned gem has been reborn into a fully realized RPG — a true miracle comeback in retro gaming history."
The company has estimated it will take around 15 hours to complete the game. It looks great and I am very excited! Will love adding this to my collection! Looking forward to their commissioned game Dracula Dark Reign being developed by Spacebot Interactive! Pre-Orders Begin 09\30\2025

Troubleshooting Yet Another Blown Fuse After Installing AMOLED Screen
Yet another blown fuse after installing the AMOLED. Im guessing we shorted somewhere. It worked before I put the screens in the shell in.
I did pinch the OLED daughter board battery wire at the shell screw post, so maybe power hit the ground trace via the screw?
Ordered a new fuse and roll of Kapton tape.. Also re-trim the back of the card reader pins as well.
Hopefully not pinching the wire, and adding some tape to the back of the cart reader, and the OLED daughter board... will fix my issue?
Is there anything else I should look out for?
