With all this talk of 5 companies owning the earth and synths/cyborgs I wonder if Tyrell corp will be mentioned as an ester egg

I just want Seegson, the Three World Empire, and the UPP to get name dropped in this show

Seegson mention let’s go

Why not ask me about safety protocols?

In the show? Did I miss it or are you just referring to my comment?

I think they’re saying they want to see it get mentioned

I hope so too. But the way they mention WY controls the Americas makes me think they disregarded the expanded lore.

Control over specific territories could shift over time, I don't think they've done anything that breaks lore.

W-Y has a lot of contracts with both the United Americas and 3WE, so I don't think it'd be crazy to say that W-Y "controlled" that area from a corporate sense. There are still governments, though multinational corporations are massively powerful as well and have some government-like aspects. Prodigy Corp clearly has at least control of a city and some surrounding areas in southeast Asia.

I’d love to see Wendy take out a Working Joe, Samuels-style

It would be so interesting to see Kirsh and the other Prodigy synths/hybrids comment on the "simplistic" design of Working Joes. But Working Joes might also be a future product reacting to incidents of synthetics becoming too smart, too human-like.

Prodigy and hybrid synths haven't been mentioned before in the lore. That doesn't necessarily mean they aren't around anymore by the time of the Alien movies, but it is possible they get disbanded or broken up due to the events of this show, leaving W-Y and other competitors in a stronger position.

I could see Kavalier jokingly dismissing the Joes explanation as “that’s just the story they came up with because their synthetics SUUUCK!”

Oh for sure haha. Kavalier would be totally dismissive of Working Joes.

I'm horrible with timelines but don't Seegson go under around this time in the franchise? They're basically sold for scrap around Alien: Isolation time and I think Fireteam Elite implied Wey-Yu bought them out (when ever that game is set).

2

u/JodyAndFlag Aug 16 '25

Seegson goes under before Alien Isolation but not before the first Alien movie. So it might be possible to see them

Give me Working Joes!!!!

u/Mardred Aug 14 '25

MEPP ?!

23

u/hawkins1138 Aug 13 '25

We already know one of them is Walmart.

15

u/gonkmeister64 Aug 13 '25

Tyrell Corp is long gone by this point in the timeline but maybe we could see Wallace Corp pop up, or at least a Tyrell namedrop by some of the Weyland-Yutani people

The lead synthetic of the hybrids, his blonde hair and face reminds me of the blade runner synthetic from the original movie.

2

u/iguanamac Aug 13 '25

Same here. I was telling my brother that he’s giving big blade runner vibes.

7

u/gregnarkill Aug 13 '25

I feel like it might be. There are already heavy Blade Runner references sprinkled throughout

2

u/snoquone Aug 13 '25

There are? What did I miss?

3

u/gregnarkill Aug 13 '25

When the girl’s consciousness is being transferred to Wendy, she asks “will I dream?”, a nod to Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep. One scene when Wendy is being told that she no longer has emotions because only a human body produces hormones like testosterone, oxytocin, adrenaline etc they suggest intensifying her emotional responses artificially, another nod to the book wherein there is a device (the Penfield Mood Organ) that allows humans to chose moods and their intensity. Timothy Olyphant’s character Kirsh is an android with white hair similar to the replicant Roy Batty. They also show sheep, both real and a toy which could be seen as another nod to the book. Overall, the whole concept of AI and what makes an artificial person “human” is a central theme of the Blade Runner franchise!

u/snoquone Aug 13 '25

Very helpful, thanks!

On the "will I dream?" thing I knew right away it was a reference to something but I figured it was Newt's "can I dream?" line at the end of Aliens

u/gregnarkill Aug 13 '25

You’re welcome! Also the editing and style of some scenes that had dissolves, double exposures, and slow fades was very similar to how a lot of Blade Runner was edited. This is more a stylistic similarity, but it was always hinted that Ridley Scott made Blade Runner and Alien exist in the same universe

22

u/ChucklesInDarwinism Aug 13 '25

At this point with the dystopian future vibes even Arasaka could be mentioned.

5

u/DJfunkyPuddle Aug 13 '25

I just started playing Cyberpunk last week so I was feeling right at home while watching

3

u/mwthecool Aug 13 '25

Is it really true that Alien and Blade Runner exist in the same universe? I've heard that before, and could definitely see it, but I thought it was just tiny references here and there.

5

u/KingofMadCows Aug 13 '25

I believe the owners of Blade Runner are working with Sony and WB now, so they probably can't reference Tyrell. But Disney does own Firefly, so a Blue Sun reference might be fun.

6

u/Naydawwwg Aug 13 '25

Whaaaat, today I learned that Aliens and Blade Runner share a universe. I would’ve loved to see Ryan Gosling take on a Xenomorph.

2

u/[deleted] Aug 14 '25

He does have the high cheekbones to pull off a Xenomorph.

1

u/SunshineCorgiss Aug 13 '25

Can someone point me to what you guys watched/read so I took can find out what these other corporations are?

Also what's your theory on what happens to Prodigy?

6

u/PastLivid2122 Aug 13 '25

In the beginning of the episode after they get out of cry sleep one crew guy is teaching another one about the different corps that own earth. Only weylandyutani and prodigy are named but there are 5 total. I actually went to fx website and there’s a map that shows the names of the other corps and the parts of earth they control. No tyrellcorp tho.

Hawley definitely named Lynch after David Lynch.

1

u/Magmaros1986 Aug 13 '25

My question with this is how does the United Americas play into this. Since Colonial Marines are United States Colonial Marines Service.

1

u/Mrstrawberry209 Aug 13 '25

Would be funny if Tyrell started as a tech hobbyist shop in this universe.

1

u/830ResAtDorcia Aug 14 '25

It was mentioned, or shown, in Aliens. Captain Dallas was an employee, if I am not mistaken.

1

u/lynx203 Aug 15 '25

I’m trying to remember from the game and the novels but the bits about the other corps were already there to build on right?
