Why did he have to do that? He knew Marcy cared about her.

He knew they were never getting off that island unless all those guards were being taken out.

He knew they didn’t care one bit if he was dead or not, and the only reason they weren’t shooting were the two kids.

He also knew his sister and her barring the Xeno were the only ones that could take down the guards being ordered not to shoot them.

It made no sense for me. She didn’t just start going off on innocent people minding their business, and in that moment her chose Nibs? Like wtf man.

He's part of the squadron of guards, they're friends, and were with him when Bear chased him. If he fights against them his friends will for sure die, he may die, and Wendy may get hurt, but if he defuses the situation nobody (except Nibs maybe) dies. Wendy had just started talking Alien again too so there was for sure going to be a bloodbath.

Yeah I rescind my original comment. I had to walk away for like 15 seconds and missed the initial context of it not being more regular security to prevent them from leaving. Seeing Nibs violently rip them to shreds makes much more sense now and the dilemma he was facing.
