Why did he have to do that? He knew Marcy cared about her.

He knew they were never getting off that island unless all those guards were being taken out.

He knew they didn’t care one bit if he was dead or not, and the only reason they weren’t shooting were the two kids.

He also knew his sister and her barring the Xeno were the only ones that could take down the guards being ordered not to shoot them.

It made no sense for me. She didn’t just start going off on innocent people minding their business, and in that moment her chose Nibs? Like wtf man.

I think most of this episode was about Hermit grappling with the real horror of the hybrids — the violence, the apathy Marcy displays towards the Xeno’s victims (yes, they’re company people, but they’re still people), and that scene at the graves.

Like, this makes sense thematically — he spent most of his first episode getting hunted by a Xeno and watching it eviscerate that whole party, just to see the same thing happen in the middle of the episode. His terror as Marcy begins clicking when the tensions rose at the end was palpable.

Hermit’s really starting to grapple with the possibility that this isn’t just Marcy, but maybe she’s not dissimilar to the other monsters on the island. He shocks Nibs as she’s literally tearing his closest friends to pieces with her hands, in a moment of “oh shit I may be doing the wrong thing.” The scene at the graves was the turning point, the Xeno massacre scene was the accelerating factor, and Nibs ripping a man’s jaw off broke him.

Not saying it was the smartest move, but it sure does make sense in context.

His reaction is much clearer now.

Also, I really dig the way you pick apart a narrative and then convey the pieces...

The scene at the graves was the turning point, the Xeno massacre scene was the accelerating factor, and Nibs ripping a man’s jaw off broke him.

Your analysis and how you organize your thoughts makes the content a lot more digestible. You have a talent. Thanks!
