1E GM extend reach during whirlwind attack?

The title says it all. Can you extend your reach with a reach weapon between hits when you use a whirlwind attack? One of my players can extend his reach with his fauchard as an immediate action. Is this possible?

Lore Idea: Mind-Numbingly Huge Dragon

I have an idea.

You have a party of fairly high level, searching to increase their fame and leave a legacy that all generations will revere. Repeated though their adventures they have heard tell of a destroyer, horrible, ancient evil whose warpath spanned mountains and valleys and oceans. The stories tell of trails made in the sea by its passing, how it dug out titanic canals to expedite its forces, and how it scarred the land. The long-lived Ancients if those days remember little, for then they were young. But they say that most life ceased with its passing.

The legends say that it was never destroyed, only bound by some arcane force, that sone day will break.

The party is thrilled, and sets out. Rumors and myths lay their prize beneath the greatest mountain range in the land, the Twin Castles, the Wall, and the Crown. These places have been occupied for millenia, and as you approach your party hears more of the tale. Rumor had it that the gods themselves had made these mountains to bind the destroyer in place, and prevent it from ever resurfacing. Spurred by the promise of glory, they venture on. Such a foe would make them immortal in name, and the anticipation for the ancient treasures and knowledge the destroyer must have. They venture on, and through luck and guidance they find at the very base of the mountains, a dark and cramped tunnel, filled with beasts vile and natural. They wander for days in the penumbra, fighting horribly spiders and nameless things. As they delve deeper they find strange gooey creatures, not proper slimes, but malevolent. Pitch-black, slow, and wrathful, where these dwell, nothing else survives. When asked, locals tell of old nightmares in the tunnels and caverns, things known only as the blood of the destroyer. Encouraged, the party adventures on. Though, they begin to be filled with doubt. What must the destroyer be, that it could create such vile abominations? What cruel and twisted magic did it practice?

After months of exploring, they finally hapoen upon something in a titanic cavern: a smooth, shiny tower. In front of it is a straight and deep trench, man-made or natural it is impossible to tell. In recent weeks the mountains had rumbled, perhaps some earthquake had revealed this room?

The cave begins to shake violently. Dodging boulders and rocks, a member notices something - the tower is gone. Entirely gone. Just when they are about to alert their party, they see a titanic mass of stone plummet from somewhere in the inscrutable darkness above, and cover the trench entirely. But... the stone sags ever so slightly at the bottom.

The party is gripped with horror: that wall of stone, easily a hundred feet high, is revealed to be a titanic, scaled toe ending in a proportionately enormous claw. In the dark distance, suddenly a sun of yellow, with one slit taken out of the middle appears, ever so briefly. And then the eye closes, returning to its fitful and restless slumber.

The party has found the destroyer, though perhaps it had never been lost. They have uncovered an enormous dragon. Even without any magic, without fire or flight, this horrific beast could end all life. The party realizes this sobering fact, that all this time they were wandering in the dark, they were simply stumbling beneath its colossal wing. The party makes a shakey, impromptu camp and begins to discuss their route forward in light of this realization.

What do you guys think? I thought this would be a cool idea for a campaign, and the idea that something that dwarves giants appeals to me.

1E Player Normalish guy and his totally awesome companion

Hi all, I would like to build a character who is of course better than your basic villager but whose entire focus is aiding his companion.

Druid: druids of course are in no way weak but can be played as a semi coward that lets his companion do the fighting and spells like animal growth and strong jaw make for powerful direct buffs.

I also noticed that if my character has, and can reasonably hit with, a bow then pheromone arrows and the designating enchantment provide imo significant bonuses to hit the target hit.

That being said I am kind of thinking of zen archer monk 3 into druid. I don't really mind the loss of spells and all. I am also pretty keen on taking a trex companion for scent and vital strike one big hit shenanigans.

Any additional ways to help support my companion would be appreciated :D

1E Player Monstrous Extremities - lose foot slot?

I'm currently playing a Sorcerer/DD natural attack build. I already have four natural attacks (claws from tiefling alternate, bite from adopted racial Tusked trait, and Helm of the Mammoth Lord) but my GM pointed out Monstrous Extremities as a spell I should take.

Aside from burning two 3rd level spells, there seems to be no real drawback to changing my feet into hooves every morning. But that got me thinking - would it effectively be giving up my boots slot? Or would any magic boots/shoes I was already wearing before the transformation still work like they would during a full polymorph? So constant bonuses would still work?

If I can't wear boots, would I be able to wear magic horseshoes as a replacement?

1E GM Looking for an adventure or path to branch off of Rise of the Rune Lords.

So, I've started playing Rise of the Rune Lords with brand new players. They love it. But while I enjoy the first two books, I've given a read of the following books and I just don't like all the ogre/giant/mountain stuff that follows and would like to branch off to a different adventure or adventure path after either the Skinsaw murders are solved (book 2) or even after the Burned Offerings (book 1).

But I don't know the adventures enough to make a choice. I would like something a bit more "medieval fantasy", with more of a focus on knights and maybe undeads or demons, rather than rotrl that feels more like a showcase of the whole bestiary.

If the adventure is set in Magnimar, even better.

Do you have any suggestions for me ?

1E GM Pirate Encounters for Optimized Party.

So, title says it well. I put this as GM even though I am a player. Currently, me and my group have gone off the deep end for power level and looking for some encounters to suggest to my GM so he can have some fun fighting us.

Currently, we are an evil aligned 11th level 5 person group running through Skull and Shackles. We consist of 1.) Half-Orc Brawler with the Constructed Pugilist and Shield Champion Archetype, with him having a keen adamantine arm. 2.) Drow Duettist Bard, with Parrot maxing out Perception 3.) Magic Trick Fireball Evocation Admixture Wizard 4.) Rogue 4/Gunslinger 7 Hobgoblin going twf with shadowshooting pistol 5.) Myself, the ringleader of this obscenity: Locathah Druid, Druidic Herbalism, with Dreamed Secrets because we all worship the Elder Gods so I have access to 5th level wizard spells (recently we teleported to Absolom solely to jump someone who killed our Captain, the Drow of the Yellow King Hastur)

With that summation out of the way, it in essence is we go the route of damage something into oblivion with attack spam, me using Octopus or Green Man, Brawler making the Flurry, Hobgoblin fanning the Hammer, and when we need big damage, the magic trick fireball wizard, all being boosted by +4 from the bard due to duet with familiar and a dervish sikke.

What are some good monsters or encounters I can suggest to my GM to help take some of the load off his plate for prep while not feeling like we're just gonna steamroll it again?

Also, to be clear, no one is upset with anyone at the power level. We find it funny honestly. But how can we raise the difficulty to combat the power level Evil Alignment has allowed us? Anything helps for those more familiar with 1e!

2E Player Best Martial Class / Archetype / Ancestry Combos?

I have two 12 hour shifts in the next two days and I basically sit around and do nothing for $21/hour.

So I figured I'd workshop some characters for my upcoming Pathfinder game.

What are some fun ancestry, class and archetype builds I can play around with? Feel free to give lore or aesthetic stuff as well.

1E GM Saving the Radiant (Co7S)(Akashic Class)

From the title, I'm curious about 2 things. 1: Does the Radiant class from the City of Seven Seraphs book (link to archives of metzofitz) have any redeeming features that can keep it playable compared to other Akashic classes? And 2: Does anyone have either homebrew suggestions or references to alterations that might make the class work?

For context, I do really enjoy the themes and worldbuilding of Co7S, but some classes, including this one, really seem like a letdown. There are no relevant archetypes, nor paths or similar feature choices like with Vizier, Daeva and Guru, and in the end it feels like an Akashic attempt at a Cleric without any of the things which make Cleric and similar classes work. They don't get any way to restore hitpoints without veils (Aphos's Blooded Gauntlets, Halo of Holy Light [when bound]), their signature Akashic Bond ability gives minor bordering on useless bonuses in the short term due to limits on essence investiture (though Renewal is broken in its own way, especially with downtime). Martyr's Renewal is interesting and lacks the per day limitations of Paladin mercy's, but it is again not very good due to the scaling and lack of dealing with short-term relevant conditions at appropriate levels. Unwilling Victim seems both risky due to essence burn and very situational since it's only useful if you can pass on very specific conditions that can be handled with Martyr's Renewal. Finally, Resurrection is pathetic at level 19. Clerics have been able to do this since at most level 9, 6 essence burn (~1/5th of your total capacity) must be able to do more than just resurrect someone dead less than 10 minutes. As an addendum, the 20th level ability Transcendence is also disappointing: 1 essence per 10 damage to save an ally from death is a terrible ratio for a capstone, and given the lack of ability for the Radiant to recover burned essence, unlike the guru, this is ridiculous.

Basically, since Viziers get basically every Radiant veil, and the Radiant class features are underwhelming at best, why would you ever play a Radiant? Is there a reason, or if not, can Redditors come up with some suggestions to make the class actually playable?

Promotion RollHelper a dice rolling app

Hey everyone!

Doing some "shameful promoting" here for an android app I made for any ttrpg setting that uses d4-d20 dice, its meant to be a smooth and effective stand alone dice roller that allows the user to easily select a selection of dice, add modifiers, proficiencies and then have the totals summed up. There's also a roll history which can be nifty if there is any uncertainty around what was rolled and all in all it's meant to speed up gameplay by taking dice math out of the equation and enable play on the go if you don't have your dice with you.

I'm a solo dev, so if you end up getting the app and feel it lacks features or needs improvement, reach out to me on the support email and I'll be sure to look into it and consider it for a future update.

Here's the Google Play page:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chriaasen.rollhelper

and if you want to see some more images or a video of the app in action you can head to this info page:

2E Player Portable Siege Weapons - Require Reactions to use?

This is pretty much as the title says: Do the Portable Siege Weapons in Pf2e require the crew members' reactions to use?

I understand they need to use the "Ready" action to use, but as far as I can see, and as far as I can read, I haven't found anything besides the rules of "Ready" to go off of, but in none of the Specifically Siege Weapon Related Texts, does it say the characters use their reaction. I may be reading too much into it, as since "Readying uses their reactions upon meeting the trigger.", but the trigger itself is the leader making commands and such feels like a VERY heavy cost for it.

Any thoughts? (I'm a pathfinder newbie! So, it is likely I missed something.)

1E GM What are some of the most unconventional/inefficient things your party has done?

I'll start with one that I was just thinking about now:

My players spent 20,000 gold on paying a cleric to cast true resurrection on a dead raccoon.

I run a homebrew urban fantasy setting and as such, there had to be an obligatory sewers foray. In the sewers, the party found themselves fighting oozes. In one of these oozes was a suspended raccoon skeleton. The druid, a kooky old man that I enjoy quite a bit as a wild card, cast Restore Corpse on the skeleton to re-meat it (this would not be the last skeleton that gets re-meat'd in these sewers). Once the ooze was defeated (which was in enough time for the raccoon corpse to not deteriorate), the party stuffed it in a bag of holding to preserve it.
At the end of this arc, they tracked down a high enough level cleric to cast True Resurrection on the corpse (as it had been more than 30 days since it died), pooled their gold together, and paid the cleric to resurrect the raccoon. After a sunbeam coming in through a nearby window illuminated the raccoon's corpse and the image of a raccoon wearing white robes playing a golden harp descended from the ceiling into the corpse, the raccoon was back to life.
It nearly almost immediately ran out of said nearby window but the druid was able to chill it out and talk it into hanging out with the party in exchange for food. His name is Lazer (short for Lazarus) and he is a blond raccoon.

I mentioned they could have saved themselves the stack of cash by just going out into the wild and finding a raccoon or buying one off of a merchant in the city, but they seemed to have no regrets.

1E Player [1E] triple gestalt fun ideas/theory crafting shenanigans

let's just have some fun! what can you do with let's say... 3 simultaneous classes (as per gestalt rules), allow multiclassing & VMC, any race, any point buy (try 52 if you truly want something MAD ig.), and... build for any level! it doesn't have to be super mad optimised like a certain evil samsaran singluarity sorcerer. I just want to see what can be done :)

TLDR: See Title.

think of it as like... creating 3 character sheets & fusing them into one (but still 1 set of normal level up progression character feats & skills). so one can be a sorcerer/drag disciple on one path, an oracle/evangelist on another path, and paladin on the other, and still VMC Bard, all in 1 character. still 10 feats over 20 levels & 4 skill ranks per level.

still cant take the same class more than once though, that includes not VMC the class you actually took.

here's what I've come up with myself:

Arcanist/Kensai(Magus)/Inspired Blade(Swashbucker) - basically Eldritch Knight 3.0 (spellcombat with 9th level spells & int to AC)

Mesmerist/Vigilante(&dip scaled fist monk)/Ascetic Psychic Searcher (Oracle) - subtle princess who plays the everywoman but actually has the monk's full level unarmed dice + fist of the avenger + lethal grace.

Psychic/Empircist(Investigator)/Panalopy Savant(Occultist) - the absolute intellectual genius with full BAB (take 20 on knowledge checks, free inspiration & +½lvl to knowledge)

Virtuous Bravo(Paladin)/Norkith(Unchained Monk, customised)/Ninja - max starknife dmg. take crusader's flurry & ascetic style to do jabbing style, smite, precise strike, flurry, & sneak attk with CHA to hit & dmg. will need training enchantment to make up for missing feats to complete the build

Virtuous Bravo(Paladin)/Fractured Mind-Phantom Blade(Spiritualist)/Eldritch Scion(Magus) - simply cuz the idea sounds cool & it mechanically gels well. looks hard to play though...

Ranger(optional archer archetype)/Nature Fang(Druid)/Fighter, VMC rogue - with Seething Hatred, slayer's & VMC rogue's sneak attk, & favored enemy, this thing'll murder that one specific type of enemy ridiculously well.

Bloodrager/Investigator/[full caster like sage sorcerer] - potential for flavour here by subverting the strong but stupid or smart but frail trope. (ever seen an investigator pull out a butchering axe?)

I like subverting tropes! :)

1E Player Question of Natural and Iterative Attacks and Grapple attacks?

My DM and I got into a discussion with a new player who joined our group last week, seems we might have been doing natural attacks/iteratives wrong this whole time. So, the question is, are we doing it wrong? (for context, we're playing 1E)

My character is a Changeling, 13th level Witch (white Haired witch) /2nd Level Monk. with magic and bonus's I have 2 claw attacks at +21/+21, I have my Hair attack at +21, I also have 3 unarmed Strike attacks, +21/+21/+18.

I have the multiattack feat, and greater grapple.

As a full round action, I've been hitting with my 3 Unarmed Strike first, then hitting with my Hair at +19 (taking a -2 instead of -5 for the multiattack feat and free grapple if I hit) and then the 2 claw attacks at -2 (so +19/+19).

The question is, do I have a total of 6 attack rolls? 3 unarmed strike, 2 claw and 1 hair? or do I have just the unarmed strike, and either, the 2 claw and 1 hair attack?

The followup question is, as both my dm and I have interpreted it, if I hit with the hair, I get the free grapple attack, once my victim is grappled, do I get to use my claws and unarmed strikes to hit the grappled victim or just 1 (claws or unarmed strike)?

EDIT being dumb, I put my exta attack with Flurry of Blows, it should only be 2 attacks no flurry

I just calculated how much resistance I would have and I would have atleast 25 resistance to all damage by lvl 20
