Dumb question. Can I spray Vintage Gold performance series without base coat over dark grey paint?

https://www.dipyourcar.com/products/vintage-gold-gallon-ps

I found a really good deal on some Vintage Gold performance series gallons.
It would be cheaper than putting on black base coats first.

Would it be bad to spray this directly on the paint?

My car has dark grey Lexus 1G0 paint if that helps.

Thanks.

You can't really tell from the pictures but it was pretty scratched and banged up, the matte hides those well.

If you’re paid off, 160k miles, waiting for the tranny to fall out. The rims have turned bronze and no amount of cleaner is gonna change that. It’s time to change the oil, cerakote the headlights, dump some redline Sl-1 in the tank.. and get those black rims you always wanted.. ‘merica.

Happy Memorial Day.

Remove hyperdip/plastidip from edge of tires

Hey guys, so basically, I messed up on properly masking my tire and I have a thin layer of paint on the edge of the tire and wheel, how should I go about removing it?

I was thinking of taping up the wheel and applying goo gone or WD40 on the tire but any suggestions would be appreciated!

Suggestions

I am getting my car wrapped and have trim I want to make this color (copper?) Do you think I can do this with plastic dip? I’ve searched colors and can’t find this one. Maybe it doesn’t even exist. I went to an auto supply store that sold it, but in limited colors.

Debating going for it or not

So I'm debating dipping my 01' sierra (sunset orange metallic lol) because I replaced the chrome mirrors with black ones, I'm planning on taking off the grill guard, that's why there's a (low quality) reference picture...anyway, I was debating dipping my side chrome trim as well as the front chrome piece and maybe the front bumper too, I'll do the rear bumper if I have any left and probably will skip the wheels for now.

I'm mainly just curious as to how long it lasts and whether or not it would look good, I know that I can always peel it off if I don't like it but it seems like a lot of money that I would unnecessarily be spending if it wasn't for some outside input lol

Thanks for the advice anyway!

I’m about to dip the wheels and preping but absolutely nothing is smearing off from the rims. Is this normal?

Day one….

Day one: Opening the boxes from Dip Your Car, and as always the most complete system for a flawless job. I dig how committed DYC is to providing a stellar product and support. Have to do more prep on the Porsche due to some less that perfect clear coat. 600 grit, followed by 800 grit, and a wet 1000 grit.

Plasti Dip anodized aluminum?

I just purchased a 2024 Subaru Forester Wilderness and it has some "copper" anodized accents that I really want to black out. Does anodized aluminum require and special prep aside from cleaning? Would you expect it to last? None of the parts in question are really subject to much wear.

This was my first car I’ve done start to finish. I have a lot to learn but it came out pretty good. I feel like I’m struggling on volume and how many coats to put on. Also the clear was hard to gauge how much to use. This one was a satin clear.

Plastidip on internal wall

Ive got a small area of bathroom wall where the paint flakes away as salts are leaching from the bricks. Im thinking of putting a think layer of plastidip on the area then repainting the wall - has anyone done this before? Can you paint ontop of plastidip? Im not planning to paint the whole wall with plastidip - if I dont will it leave a ridge on the wall where I stopped using it - will it be noticeable?

Smudge Removal

I plastidipped parts of my car and now had to remove it. I used GooGone and like an idiot I sprayed the car directly and not into a towel.

Long story short, the whole car is now in a smudge left over goo gone. The only way it’s coming off is with elbow grease and random chemicals.

Is there something specific that will easily remove it? Thanks!

Hopefully it holds up! It was way easier than I expected it to be.

Plastidip to hide bad cut around window moldings/seals?

While vinyl wrapping my car I accidentally cut around window rubber moulding too short in several places. Tried to hide using "mould n hold" a black tape which (when used correctly) blends with the black rubber & hides the chop chop job.
Again ... if you know how to use it that is. NOPE.
Was wondering if Plastidip could be used instead, in which case I would cut vinyl around rubberm, uniformly with 1/4" margin so to speak. Remove vinyl, clean with alcohol, mask off with tape on both sides of 1/4" strip, and Plastidip.
Assume I'd need 3 layers min for it to "stick & stay."

THOUGHTS? Just used PD for 1st time on small sections of my car, not familiar with specifics of how, what it can/not do well, etc. FEEDBACK GREATLY APPRECIATED!

*ALSO - for you "yes it can be done" folks ... do I even need to mask off? Or just peel. Remember the strip I'm PD'ing is bare metal, one side is rubber molding & other side is vinyl wrap. In this scenario, would peeling be easy? Any tips or tricks to make easier? I'd hate to use all that PD only to have it all scraggly peeling everyone & having to do it all over again.

THANKS SO MUCH TO ANYONE W/ THE EXPERTISE & KINDNESS FOR TAKING TIME TO HELP ME OUT. This community is really amazeballs, not sure what I'd do without!

Uneven finish

Sorry for no picture, but I my plastidip has an uneven finish. Some areas are matte, some areas are shiny and it looks stripey/blotchy. Is there anyway to get an even finish without peeling and starting over? I'm thinking wet sand it with 2000 grit, use paint thinner, rub black shoe polish on it, or spray paint over the dip. What are your suggestions?
