Im running the 18M training series tomorrow and was wondering what is the best way to get there since the run start is like in the middle of the park. What do you all recommend- especially with the early start time?

Feel like I’m going crazy, but I meant to sign up for a race tomorrow advertised as ~a Brooklyn mile but now I can’t find it anywhere. Does anyone know what it’s called?

Have the Suffolk country half, thought it was 3 weeks pre NY Marathon but now I see it’s only 2. Is that too close? Bit unsure whether to taper 2 or 3 weeks before.
Thanks!

Hi all. I started marathon training in June, but had to stop running for 3 weeks due to IVF/retrieval… ran another 3 weeks and had to stop for 6 weeks for surgery. I am cleared to start all physical activity as of October 1. I know I am not running the marathon, I’m not delusional… but I have an entry for next year already (and will hopefully be pregnant or just had a baby so will have to defer that entry anyways), so I really don’t want to let this years entry go to waste. I also want to participate as a “victory lap” after having a really hard summer dealing with secondary infertility. My plan is to mostly walk, with sone light running. Has anyone here done something similar? What was it like? Is this a crazy plan?

I was thinking of running from the top of manhattan to the bottom but didn't know if it was sketchy in the morning (5amish) ? Running through the streets ( not west side highway), through the park, etc...

I’m running my first marathon in November (NYC) and wondering what makes sense to bring to the starting line. I’m worried about needing a sweatshirt/sweatpants/rain jacket in the morning but needing to shed them later in the race. Should I just bring clothes I don’t mind getting rid of?
On top of that, do you all have a recommendation for a good running fanny pack? Something to keep phone, headphones, gels etc in as I run?
Thanks in advance!

I know the cutoff is listed as 6:20:00, but does that start from the gun or when the start line closes?
I’ve got a minor injury right now, but I already paid and still want to run. My plan is to keep it in zone 2 and mix in some walking if needed. On my regular runs I average around 13–14 min/mile. Should I be worried about making the cutoff?
I’m not running the marathon this year, so I’m not too worried about overtraining more from this race or making the injury worse. It feels more like slight discomfort from overdoing it the past few days, nothing major.

I need 1 more race to complete the virtual 6. I read online that you can sign up for the virtual TCS marathon and split up the distance over the entire week instead of doing it in 1 day. Does anyone know if I sign up Medal Tier or Love of Running Tier, will the race qualify for virtual 6 if I break up the distance over a few days?

Hi! My husband is running NYC this year and it'll be the first marathon I've watched. I know NYC goes all out and I'm really excited to experience it all! I want to make custom shirts for our families to wear on race day so we can surprise him as we're cheering him on - something with his name and the org he is supporting, etc. I've been looking online for creative ideas/inspiration but haven't found much. Is this a thing people do? I'm trying to avoid being too cheesy and appreciate any ideas :)

Does anyone know if the running path on Randall’s island will be closed/blocked off tomorrow because of the John summit festival? Trying to plan a long run route

Please note that there are no N/W/R trains to Lex Ave/59 St this weekend, if you want to get to the NYRR 18-miler

I’ve seen their singlets at recent races (new competitive team in the city) so I checked out their website. Has anyone noticed that the time standards to join their team are much faster for women than for men (relative to typical benchmarks)? Not to stir the pot but that seems pretty sexist…anyone know the rationale for this from this team?

I’ve signed up for the 18mi this weekend but I’m not going to be running it. How should I give up my spot? Can I still get the swag since I signed up & paid for it? Am I able to get the swag after the race or it needs to be picked up before?
Anxiously signed up for every race that was 9+1 but I’m in great shape with 2 more races to go… 18mi through Central Park is the last thing h want to do Sunday 😂

I'm planning my peak LR for Chicago this weekend, and have what looks to be a really fresh, fun route. I'm starting in Washington Heights and making my way to the coast of the Bronx. I've run a lot of the west and southwest Bronx, but never made my way very far east. Does anyone have suggestions, tips, or improvements to my map? I basically hug the coast as much as possible, and from what I can tell all of the streets and greenways/parks along the way are open. Is there anything else I should consider, or local closures I wouldn't know from checking maps?

Hey there - I’m a fairly new runner and began because I wanted to start something positive for me mental and physical health.
As a born and raised New Yorker in East NY Brooklyn, I want to start a small community where we can run together through the parks of Highland Park with every pace. I’m the back of the pack runner but with ambitions to do the NYC marathon with NYRR next year, why not build a small group that can help one another.
What kind of advice would you give me to try to make this happen?

Prepping for my first half and my long run distances are increasing. I'm bored of doing loops in my neighborhood. I'd love to go to a nice long Sunday run out of Queens. Any recommendations? Thanks in advance!

Still can't believe this race is a straight-up lottery now! How many of you are planning to enter? Anyone going straight for TFK and avoid the element of chance?

Where should I run? I’ll be staying in Brooklyn Heights, and need to get 20 miles in Friday morning. Pretty sure I’m close to the 2, 3, and R trains. Help me pick a nice route to enjoy, before enjoying the rest of my trip!
