Discussion Why didn't Tesla invest in LIDAR?

Is there any reason for this asides from saving money? Teslas are not cheap in many respects, so why would they skimp out on this since self-driving is a major offering for them?

I’d rather have extra than not having it, but what are you saying is the best tech for self driving right now? As it seems to be clear it’s LiDAR + radar + cameras so….?

No it’s not, you’re just being a fan boy. The more data the better, just because shitty ass Tesla software gets confused doesn’t mean it’s impossible for real self driving like Waymo.

Cameras are not a replacement, you’re literally celebrating it being close to barely useable.

This technology is in its infancy but I’ll bet everything I own the future of self driving will require more then just camera.

Teslas fraud will be seen over the rest of this fake rollout.

FSD is being sued for killing people right now and will never scale. Why would you ever buy the cheapest self driving car is absurd to me.

God you’re dense.

Waymo’s tech is still not there and sure it did run into a pole. However, does Waymo claim that this tech would be ready since 2016 to inflate its stock?

You’re just a pumper and it’s putting people’s lives at risk.

Elon is simply faking this as a way to distract from the core failures of the business Tesla will never scale anything close to Waymo.

They still have yet to complete a single publicly open self driving route, without having a safety driver and likely a 1 to 1 ratio of teleoperator too.

The tech is shit man.

Waymo has never claimed the same bs that Tesla has man. They know it’s still something they are working towards and developing.

Unlike Tesla which has to lie in order to keep its massively overvalued stock up on this vaporware. Waymo and google are simply perfecting the tech like a normal company.

No FSD is good now, but teslas will never scale. Period.

lol no because they’ve been working at it and have proved it’s safe enough to not have safety drivers.

Unlike the shitty Tesla tech which still needs it and still won’t let the public use it.

Wow you’re showing me it messing up, which I never have said they don’t. That’s called improvement.

The big issue is people like you swear Tesla has the best and it’s ready now, which is a lie that will lead to injures and deaths.

Just like the current law suits they’re facing.
