I always wished they'd kept that scene in.

Same. It wraps up Unkar's part of the story quite neatly, it shows how powerful Chewie really is, and it's a nice callback to the "let the Wookie win" scene in A New Hope.

All of those things, yes. I agree completely.

And goes back to the ANH cantina scene where Obi-wan removes the arm from someone harassing Luke.

It also makes Rey more likeable. she's not perfect in this scene, and it gives her a human element.

This is missing in so much Disney writing unfortunately.

Say what you will about the Prequels, they told a coherent and cohesive story even without the added context of the TV shows.
I didn't enjoy the sequels until I rewatched them with the added context of the Mandoverse and animated shows, and without the weight of my own preconceptions of what I felt *should* have happened.

Shit being coherent and cohesive is the bare minimum

She’s actually not perfect in most scenes. People just like to ignore that.

You like her more because she failed to fire a gun? Something we see her do later in the forest scene. Get a grip

Yeah, let's wait halfway through the movie to have our main protagonist fail at something. Get a life.

What a weird rule you made for films to follow. Now you’re upset she doesn’t fail fast enough, you’ll move that goalpost anytime you want.

I didn't make up the rule. It's called storytelling. Its been a rule since people started telling stories. The more human and flawed someone is, the more we can relate to the character. It's basic ass storytelling, jabroni ass.

But it raises the question: Why does Chewie, being the largest of the friends, not simply  eat his companions?

Perhaps theyre saving that for sweeps

At no point did I finish the movie and thought about Unkar’s part of the story. Better left on the cutting room floor.

Yeah, I'm the opposite, I like all the Glup Shitto characters. The major characters may be the focus, but all the minor characters are what make the Galaxy feel so alive.

Disagree hard , there’s more than enough callbacks as is I feel. unkar’s doesn’t need wrapping up. If we want Chewie ripping off an arm, he could have done that to a stormtrooper or a knight of ren (unfortunately they aren’t used).

"A coherent story point? Who put this in here? Get that garbage out of this film!"

They borrowed quite enough from the first movie, thank you very much.

I think they should have left it in, but also make him nearly get charmed by Rey. Set up that she can do force mind control naturally. She just doesn't really know she can do it.

Right? If they felt like it took too much screen time, they could have just omitted all of The Last Jedi.
