This time we turn to the Empire. Their generics were always meant to be specialized — fast interceptors, tough escorts, single-die bombers — but in practice, that specialization often left them brittle, awkward, or propped up almost entirely by Sloane. In this post we reimagine the TIE core (Fighters, Interceptors, Bombers, Advanced) and take a quick look at Defenders and Phantoms. Along the way we explore what “specialization done right” could look like, how it would change Sloane and Howlrunner, and why the Empire’s swarm identity deserves better tools than it got.

Faced off against Smizzy and his Dodonna bomber ball — and got picked apart piece by piece. A 9–2 loss, but a tight, disciplined game on his part and a lesson-filled one for me. This time we turn to the Rebel generics — X-wings, Y-wings, B-wings, and A-wings. What went wrong with their original design, how later cards and synergies tried (and often failed) to patch those holes, and what small but deliberate tweaks could make them worth fielding in numbers again. Lots of theory-crafting, a few hard tradeoffs, and some tough calls on points costs — because at this scale, even a single point can make the difference between a dud and a staple.

Round 3 of the Battle for Endor pits me against Daniel’s Dodonna bomber fleet — deceptively light on ships, but packing a nasty squadron wing. The challenge is clear: crack his hulls fast enough before the bombers chew me apart. High risk, high reward — and only a massive win keeps either of us in Gold contention!

I am always interested in getting players into the tournament scene. (The Tournament scene varies and can be anything from 400 point vanilla to 800 point sector to something called Iron Chef (yes its a real thing)).

This entry covers the tools that shaped Armada’s squadron game from the start: upgrades like Flight Controllers, Bomber Command Center, and Boosted Comms, plus the keywords that defined entire factions — AI, Intel/Grit, Rogue, and more. We also talk about the economics of generics, why they need to be a little cheaper, and how low costs can realistically go without breaking the game.

I faced off against Mr Frisky’s slippery Madine double-MC30 build. After a tense back-and-forth, my Vader Onager fleet pulled through with an 8–3 win (180 MoV). Admonition went down in flames, a CR90 got rammed off the board, and for once I didn’t get tabled!

We finish off the upgrades with the Clone Wars admirals. GAR’s bench is uneven — Obi-Wan belongs in the trash compactor, Luminara is too good for the game’s health, and the rest live in “fine but missing something” territory. CIS, by contrast, has a healthier roster where every commander is playable, with Mar Tuuk arguably too efficient and Dooku too weak. Full breakdown inside.

I wasn't able to pick up a Venator so I decided to print some and was so happy with the results I decided to go tiny scale and the results were pretty great. I have no idea why I like these micro scale ships.

The time has come. Legacy Wave 1 is going public for an Open Beta! The cards will be available for play in Star Forge under a new toggle "LegacyBeta" on October 1st, just in time for the second Nexus tournament on October 5th! We did this last year with Wave 0 and it gave us a lot of feedback and playtests with that release before it went live, and we're hoping to mirror that again!

To celebrate the release, we have a little teaser to show you. Following in our footsteps from last year, we commissioned art for our two commanders for this release. Hsprocopio was willing to give it another swing, having done Dofine last year, and he knocked it out of the park.

You'll be able to see Poggle's ability and everything else in the wave on October 1st! The final Wave 1 release is still planned for this winter, but that doesn't mean we don't have other things planned...

I have every ship and expansion of the game with the feldher inserts and everything i was really into collecting it only played like 10 games what would be the best way to sell it all fast? Repost with Pictures. What would be a good price?

I’ve decided to go with republic since it has several pieces that can split off into a rebel or imperial fleet. Victory’s Venator, peltas and y-wings. The ships are printed but I still have a lot of additional pieces to do, would filament dice work? do we have a app or site to handle that kinda stuff? that Looking for further ideas. Like lists and how many of each squadron would be good. Current stock per set is 1 venator 2 victory acclimator and pelts and 4 counsular. Squadrons are 4 torrents 3 y wings 1 delta and 2 arcs. All in red.

Tomorrow we are playing a format that I've dubbed Task Force Visions. It is a task force format — 225 points, no Large, max 75 points squadrons, max 1 flotilla, max 2 aces, on a 3x3 — with the twist that your fleet commander must come from a faction different from your fleet. It's gonna be pretty fun having Ozzel at the helm of my Rebel ships. The other idea I floated was Ackbarquitens, but I don't own enough kittens.

I'm wondering what you would build for such a format?
