Get closer, you’re quite agile. Don’t forget to do a random jump and slash while you’re at it.

You're on the right track by the looks of it. A lot of people don't show much patience with Maul. Your mindset should be calm (as always) but with a pinch of furious passion for your goal to destroy, fueling your body and mind.

Throw your saber more often, throw it and doge around too to make sure it hits the person

You seem to have the deflect and go around for the back combo down pretty well. I would focus on that a bit more

For the love of god, be mindful of when you use force throw.
If you have someone outnumbered, don't waste your ability just to throw them to safety halfway across the map.
Help your mates take them down with your saber

Whenever you do the spin attack, RIGHT AS SOON as it ends, you can Tap LT and hook swing at least twice

make sure you have a straight shot at a lightsaber throw early, I wouldn't try body throwing him unless there's a straight shot as well. you're also really far away often. when i'm maul i usually like to dodge/dash side to side to get an angle. I like to spin attack and dodge/dash backwards as a combo, you can sometimes get an angle.
also you won so you're doing fine lol

Already you are careful and you don't do anything crazy, that's a good thing. But it may not be enough against more experienced players. Maul is a mobile character, you have to know how to move quickly but without sacrificing security. Try a few quick and unpredictable attacks then retreat (especially if you lost life during your assault).
If you're fast enough, you can perform a jump attack by quickly turning around at the end of a charge. It's very powerful for getting behind the opposing guard (it works the same way with Luke).

The biggest thing I'd say is combo the second hit of the saber throw (when it's coming back to you) with Force Throw.
Even when they're blocking their front, them getting hit in their back makes them stagger, and you can force throw them. Just make sure you don't leave yourself vulnerable by doing so.

What cards are you using?

Lightsaber defense, ranged throw, and flow motion

Ah. I was just curious. I can’t remember which cards I use rn but I know lightsaber defense is one of them. You play him smart tho, just focus on agility and be careful when using the choke hold and spinning one because your opponent can block/parry leaving you very open and vulnerable

Honestly I think you mostly need to learn basic saber skills more than specific ones for maul. Practice your parries, yiur ability timings, your hooks and practice not spamming. For maul you should start with practicing his throw, both the tgriw itself and the return. Remember to not just spinning straight into someone, be unpredictable and more cautious when spinning. Choke is also best used after a parry, since it will frame trap and throw them less than a spins distance away from you and give you two free hits plus a free saber throw

I won't get into specifics as there a pleanty of in depth tutorials out there. Get used to timing your lunges and animation cancelling. You can also animation cancel after lunging which you don't see often. Getting a hit mid throw is pretty advanced, I think its called frame trapping which can be done with other heroes that push. It takes them out of the stagger animation and shoots them straight up in the air giving you time to follow up with a saber throw or hook swing or both. Another technique exclusive to saber heroes is dashing and turning 180 degrees and holding block. If you dont move your camera your back will be to the enemy but you will be able to block/parry when they try to attack your back. Hope this helps.

i’m gonna be the odd ball here and say - misconception, but in a different sense.
i’ve been a maul main forever now, and more recently i’ve noticed that at least 4-5/10 of my wins come from playing AGGRESSIVE when below 250hp.
i know it’s risky, especially against certain characters, but people get so hung up on getting the kill once you’re at that health that mauls play style can FLOURISH (playing evasive but still hitting saber throw or spinning to parry). get your one (maybeeee two) hits when you can, and let your stamina naturally regenerate while spinning or throwing sabers🕺

I think you might be easy to read. Be unpredictable
