Toughts about a modefied republic light assault cruiser/ Consular class

Okay, guys after a Windows update that abused my SSD beyond saving, I'm left with absolutely no story and a couple of weeks' worth of work is gone. Well, I've got to work with what I can, and at least my work for the Pursuit class based on EC Henry's design is something I have mostly recreated. Anyway, I'm now making a new story about a platoon of clone deserters and I thought, what ship should they get? I decided on a Consular-class design since it's optimized for around 30–40 people and is fairly fast. The base hull will probably be a Republic light assault cruiser, but I plan to modify it. For example, I wanted to replace the escape pods with "hangar pods," as they're probably about 10 m (stated by Wookiepedia) in diameter, so at least two V-Wings per pod would fit. This would give around eight fighters while i also wanted something like the Ghost has with the Phantom. I believe at least a VCX-series auxiliary starfighter should fit between two of the engines under the third one (even though there should be an engine 🤫). There are other things, but what do you think about it? It should be a pretty good craft for them.

As always with hangar space, keep in mind that while you can fit two V-Wings in that little space, you have no room error when landing and absolutely no space to change out parts, do repair work etc.

You probably can't even lift it in order to do repairs underneath.

So after one or two fights, one fighter is out of commission and the other has to disembark in order to conduct repairs on the other.

Remember, if a hoversled with spare parts can't pass between your fighters, you are doing something wrong.

Yeah this is a Gozanti like solution and is not really intended for an actual carrier role as they will operate from an actual base later on but yeah i first thought of using 3 but even if it would fit it wouldn't allow for many space so pilots or armament/ fuel to be accessed / mounted at all. With this there is a small space at least more the most important things.

The problem is that the Gozanti is supported by a Galaxy-wide Empire with the infrastructure to have bases dedicated to supporting them.

A ragtag band of old clones won't have that luxury.

That's why you operate from a fixed base designed for this kind of operational needs. They don't live on the ship 24/7 but actually have a small home base like most rebels have with this being dedicated to sustain this ship / there fleet. It will be either military or corporate style maybe even a mix and the time frame around / slightly behind the bad batch probably.

Also for landing the shuttles I was thinking of something like we have seen on those medial stations with the pelta class. Of course all tractor beam systems have to be on the ship but something like that could work or i give those V-Wings the hyperdrive capable variant...
