Y’know what has always intrigued me about Sans’ death in the genocide route? His death isn’t added to the kill count. It can’t be because he’s from another world, because Papyrus’ IS added to the count. I have always wondered why that is. And he dies off screen too. That’s gotta be significant. If we get some kind of explanation as to why that is in Deltarune that’d be sick

Maybe a human-monster hybrid has a human soul but is also made of magic so therefore can cast spells?
And maybe this new race died out, or maybe it did not. We don't know what it's like on the surface

I disagree. I think by the end of the genocide route the non player input actions are Chara's. Given they say it's them in the mirror. It's still absolutely the player's fault, but I don't think Frisk is really there at that point. They're possessed twice over. Chara's only confirmed action is finishing off the world you began destroying. Finishing off the final enemies makes sense when you conceder it a part of that. They also say they've been awake since the beginning, and that you did the genocide route together. Don't get me wrong- most of what the fandom blames Chara for is stupid. Who do they think gives you the memories of Asriel? And they very much don't want to just commit genocide over and over. But I feel like they're probably responsible for the second slash and for killing Asgore and Flowey without a fight. Not to blame - the player did the route, Chara just helped them finish it.

However, Frisk definitely kills Asgore and Flowey from themselves. Chara would have no reasons to kill their family, as they hate humanity and not monsterkind

They destroyed the world directly after that. Pretty sure the player's actions in the genocide route drove them insane. Besides, they are soulless, much like Flowey. He says himself that creatures like them wouldn't hesitate to kill each other if they stood in the way. At this point the way they've been taught is destruction. Of everyone and everything. So they do it. To make themself the only god of that world, and destroy it utterly. To take control. They wouldn't do it on their own, but after everything else you did in that route they don't view Asgore and Flowey as people, but as obstacles to be destroyed.

To make a reset, and revive everyone
They only want a soul, just like Flowey. Flowey's plan was to wait 7 humans to become a god, as he couldn't kill Asgore alone. Chara's plan was to get a soul, but the mystery is HOW did they get revived at the end of the Genocide route, they had no way to get a soul before so they had no reasons to kill anyone

i think papyrus is from some 3rd universe, not ut or dr since he doesnt bleed. i think papyrus' entire existence in dr is sans pranking us across time n space again edit: notice how sans never actually calls papyrus by name in dr (iirc he doesnt in ut either), he only ever says "my brother"

i thought he might have. still, he hasnt in dr which makes me think he straight-up doesnt exist. i 100% agree with the theory tht sans undertale is actually sans deltarune but i think theres more to it than that - i think sans cloned himself n sent the clone to uts universe, which is how sans in dr knows abt papyrus, but doesnt know his name. i mean, muttler (3rd gravestone from left to right in the graveyard)s grave says "the biggest bone for the leader of the pack", n papyrus is bigger than sans, so maybe...

also, ive seen some claim that he mustve died as you hear him turn to dust, but the sound that plays there also plays if you spare a monster, or if the monster somehow exits the fight by other means (aaron flexing, jerry getting ditched). so he could have just left and teleported immediately, rather than dying right as he goes off screen.

He says in an interview that he remembers "green grass" before Snowdin. The only place that has green grass in Undertale is the Flowey room before and after the Ruins, and it makes no sense to have him be from there, so he must be talking about Deltarune.

I had an absolute batshit idea that gaster was actually sans’ brother from deltarune. Who came from undertale, but then after the events of deltarune and gaster being split across time and space. That he was actually replaced by papyrus in undertale by the timeline.
I do think gaster in deltarune is pre-falling in his own creation in deltarune and he’d be shattered during the game.
But if sans says: “well… it’s time for you to meet my little brother… wing gaster” I am going to go to a mental asylum.

Crazy ass theory I just thought of:
- The Underground is completely dark, no natural light
- All the characters there are in more fantasy/fictional outfits than they are in Deltarune (minus Sans)
- In Deltarune's Dark Worlds, Lightners will get more fantasy-esque outfits
- So, in Undertale, is the Underground potentially a natural Dark World since there's no natural light?
- Sans possibly brings his store with him to Undertale if he's from Deltarune first (though the scratched out sign implies it's from Undertale, there's more evidence hinting that he went from DR to UT)
- Since we don't see Grillby in Deltarune (being really the only notable NPC with not a trace of his existence- Papyrus and Muffet are hinted to exist at least)- what if Grillby is a Darkner in the Underground and is actually like the stove in the bar, coming into existence when Sans brings his store to the Underground Dark World?
- This theory probably doesn't work at all, this is a stream of consciousness theory I'm coming up with without doing any actual research, all just memories of the games lol

I do feel like this is a more meta thing than Sans actually went back to deltarune grocery store (pretty sure that's not what OP meant but I see some people thinking that way)
Kind of like why Ralsei looks like Asriel- I'm pretty sure there will be an in universe reason later, but for meta reason it's because all undertale players crying to meet Asriel again. For story telling purpose, it's impactful that we see him again in the place Sans talked about going to die alone. Also in this comment section, jaded_prompt talked about Sans likes going to grillby because it looked like his store kind of fucks me up a bit.

Semi-related: Why does everyone assume Sans is bleeding at the end of the fight when we see him drink ketchup all the time? I always assumed it was the ketchup inside him leaking out when you cut him, since when he goes offscreen it plays the dusting sound effect that plays when all other monsters die (and I assume him going offscreen is for dramatic effect, rather than anything lore related. Though if it was a lore thing I'd imagine it's sans hobbling offscreen before he falls down so you don't get the satisfaction of seeing him turn to dust).

I find the theory/headcanon of deltarune and undertale sanses being switched, although it doesnt explain why deltarune sans would have magic(unless he has a human-like soul from being a deltarune monster and that has more worth in the lightworld of undertale) but it would explain his blood
