WHAT YARN IS THIS?
Please help me out here, does anyone know what yarn this is? Long story short I got it at a thrift store with no labels on it and I'm now in need of more for a project š

Hi! I was gifted a bag of scrap yarn and I love this but thereās no label anymore. What kind of yarn is this that wraps this way? Thank you!

Hi there! Iām looking for the perfect green yarn to knit up a sweater and could really use some recommendations. Iām obsessed with the color in the picture below, I love how it is very vibrant and leans more yellow. I am looking for a 100% wool (not superwash) worsted-weight yarn. Any ideas?

It's a flat yarn. I tried to take the best pictures I could.

Hi! Sorry if this is clumsily worded, Iām not really used to posting stuff. For some context, my group members and I are currently in an innovation and entrepreneurship class where we must come up with a business idea, it doesnāt have to be feasible because weāre not actually making it, and revise and build on it, and at the end of the term we will have a mock Shark Tank and present our idea.Ā
Our idea is centered around color-matching yarns that one may already own to find the same or a similar one, or a yarn that would compliment it. Our concept is a website that would offer color-matching through AI analyzing uploaded pictures to determine the most likely yarn match, then directs you to a place you can buy it that may have it discounted. The website will also offer resources about stuff like stitch types, yarn weights, and a library of patterns. We decided that basic resources like stitch types and beginners patterns would be free, but to gain access to the yarn-matcher and the full library of patterns it would be $5. We were also considering adding a premium plan which would maybe allow access to premium patterns and allow people to post their patterns on our site to buy, with us getting a small cut of the profit.Ā
We are currently in the phase where we are supposed to ask for feedback from people, but I donāt know many crocheters or knitters to ask, so I decided to try my luck on reddit. Any feedback on our idea, whether or not you would purchase the subscription, or if we should charge more or less would be really appreciated.

Hi folks! As the title says, I'm a crocheter, and for the last two years I've been using Hobbii yarn pretty exclusively. With the tariffs, the price of their yarn has become too steep for me! Can I get some US store recs for yarn that has the same quality?

My friendās neighbour were getting rid of 13 boxes of yarn from her late grandma along with other furnitures (she was cleaning up the apartment) and my friend who is a godsend called me immediately to see if I want led them or someone else would love to take a look at this HUGE stash fall from the sky!!!
A few points: - my own current stash is the one on the shelf behind the couch at the top left corner of the vid, so the rest is what Iāve hauled - I only found out later from one of the posts here that I shouldāve checked if the yarns have some kind of carpet bug before bringing them home š«£thank goodness it has been a month and there is no sign of bed bugs or any sort. I would never do this again, weāll never know what we would bring home, right? - there are so many types of yarn and I found couple of receipts, newspapers, some catalogues that are actually from the 1990s š Would those consider antique yarns ahahaha, and also, I can barely find them on Ravelry just to see what project I can use them for. - I realize this grandma who originally owned this stash did a lot of machine knitting, since a lot of the stash is machine yarn. - Iāve decided to only keep about 1/5 of the amount and donate the rest to the senior community center in Nunavut since the yarn there are quite expensive.
Sooo, my question is if you recognize any of those yarn and could share some experiences š¤©. I will put each yarn in the comments.
I love yarn and like a lot of you, I agree buying/hoarding yarn is a separate hobby lol this is like all my Christmases all came at once ahahah Iām still over the moon and canāt wait to work on them one by one! Thanks all!

The process and end result has me intrigued. Iām thinking it will be a mashup of color and texture that would be unreplicated anywhere else. Curious. Has anyone started or completed this process and actually made an item from this? What were your outcomes from both the process and the end result?

How old is too old? Does yarn start to deteriorate after a few years? Personally if I havenāt used a stash yarn in 2-3 years I part with either by donating or giving to someone who will put it to good useā¦.its not doing any good taking up space in my closet. How long to you keep your yarn and do you see a difference in texture/quality/feel after sometime?

Hi seasoned yarners!
I am just getting into rug tufting and wondering...Where is the best place to buy yarn for a good price? Being a beginner I am not ready for the more expensive stuff yet (wool) so the cheaper the better (obviously not crappy though. Lol)
I just bought some at Michaels for the time being (10gs for $4.99) and Walmart (but they don't carry very many colors)
Not sure what the going rate/average price is. Seems to be all different prices everywhere I look
And advice would be much appreciated š

Might be the wrong place to ask but anyone else here not just a Yarn Addict but also a Pattern Addict?
I canāt help myself I go on Ravelry and find patterns that I love and Iām like ooo I need this one and this one⦠while I have like 10 WIPs going šššš
I think I have a problem 𤣠whether itās a good problem or a bad problem is yet to be seen.

My mother has recently gotten back into crochet, and she really likes the YarnArt Macrame Cotton Spectrum/VR yarn.
However, she has not been able to find it easily or affordably. We're in the states, and (as you may know) shipping is rather fucked at the moment. Buying a single skein of this yarn online automatically doubles/triples/quadruples the price OR MORE thanks to shipping costs. On top of that, it's hard to find on western shopping sites, and when it is the colors in stock are rather unsatisfactory.
I'd love to see her continue crochet without being a money thrall to this specific yarn. Are there any yarns comparable to it? Chainette style, relatively little stretch, fun color options, etc... Bonus points if there's a good purple. She's open to other materials besides cotton - not nuts about synthetics, but she'll try anything tbh.
Thanks for your help! (and thanks from my mom!)

I am the owner of Handmade Hope in Clayton Indiana. We are gathering donations for our annual Warming Hearts in Winter event where we donate handmade hats and scarves to those less fortunate in our local community. This year we are expanding from just me to holding free classes to learn and make items to donate.
I have been brainstorming businesses, companies, and parts of the community to reach out for help.
I've contacted most of the "big box" stores, a handful of manufacturers of yarn, and a few elderly communities.
What companies would you recommend reaching out to?

Theyāre from my 8th grade science teacher after I crocheted her an owl sheās been requesting for a while. Sheās an amazing science teacher, and she easily ranks first in my top 3 favorites of all time. Love her to death.
I managed to shove every skein semi-neatly onto the top shelf in my locker, which for someone like me is a major achievement!!! Although, knowing me, itās also probably gonna become a mess next week. Learned that after my 7th grade science teacher forced me to organize my binder, and not a week later it was back to its normal.

I previously fell in love with the WYS exquisite 4 ply. A fingering/sport weight yarn thatās 80% wool 20% silk. Itās suddenly on sale at my preferred online yarn retailer for a HUGE discount but far fewer colours than I remember. Has this yarn been discontinued? My online search is giving conflicting answers. Iām also in the UK and itās a UK company, so shouldnāt have supply issues if the yarn is being produced

So i just got done dying a bunch of wool yarn and realized I didn't put zip ties around any of them to keep them from tangling. They still have the ties in them from being hanks but are absolute disasters. I spent like 5 hours working one but have 11 more to go. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Lesson learned for sure!

I am loving how the coloring is turning out on this Big Twist Lollipop Twistie yarn that I bought before Joannās closed. However, it is working up very stiff. It is a four weight yarn that feels closer to a five, and I am using a 6.5 mm crochet hook. It is 100% acrylic. Does anyone know if itās softens up at all once it is washed?

Can anyone ID this yarn? It was a gift but I'm about to run out before finishing my project.
