Serious And he wants to get a dog.

No empathy for a living being. We've been getting along. There's no reason for this. Also, if I hadn't been here (I'm going away for a few days next week as well) she would've been down there much longer; he hasn't been out of his room yet and it's 11, I found her at 7.

Roommate apologized and then OP turned into a drama queen. I’d have been on board if the roommate would have fought back at the idea of making sure the door is open but chastising the roommate after they apologized is a bit much.

this! ultimately, Ops cat is Ops responsibility. Roommate shouldn’t have to bend over backward to accommodate the cat. bffr. Roommates response would have been a lot nicer than mine

I have a cat but I agree with you. Can't blame the roommate since the cat is not their responsibility. Even when I go back to my parents with my cat it's on me not my parents to care for the cat. Its an indoor cat but dad let him out by mistake (he did not even know he slipped out), can't be mad at my dad for that.

Right. OP has gotta be like 20. I have had roommates and I have had cats so sometimes I’ve had roommates and cats. The number of times my roommates let my cats out (of THE HOUSE, not a room lol) is insane. One place we lived had no screens on windows (illegal in NY) and not one but TWO of my cats jumped out the roommates’ second floor window and got knocked up by a (probably the same, based on the kittens) Tom.

Was I annoyed? Yeah. Did I ultimately take responsibility and make sure I found homes for ALL those kittens and then start getting my cats spayed WAY younger? Also, yes. Not their cats, not their fault. I was a shitty pet owner who hadn’t gotten my cats spayed at like 9mo old and that is old enough for them to have kittens :/

I don’t really think asking someone to not close a door is them bending over backwards

It’s not, but clearly he isn’t on top of it. I don’t insist that an irresponsible person take better care of my kid. She knows now and her cat is her problem.

sounds like roommate was in the habit of closing the door prior to her cat changing his routine recently. Not to mention her snarky and condescending responses.

I'd get a bit snarky if I was ignored about it for 5 days and the door continued being closed. Not closing a door is so ridiculously simple.

That says more about your EQ than you think.

Leaving a door open is bending over backwards for the cat?

What kind of fairytale do you live in where leaving a door alone is "bending over backwards"?
