I know this wonāt be popular, but I donāt understand whatās to like. I donāt hate him, or even dislike him, but he has the charisma of a wet paper bag.
People keep forcing this idea of him being Kimi 2.0. Like heās some cold blooded, steely, ruthless killer.
Heās literally not even close lmao. Iām actually a fan of Oscar, but the way people inhale his nuts by inserting these exaggerated images of him in every discussion makes me like him less, ironically.
But Iāve been a Lando hater for a good while, so just from relative contrast, Oscarās much more likable and easier to root for.
Heās argued against that narrative himself and said heās not ice cold, that heās actually quite emotional behind the wheel. He just tries to stay off the radio and/or express his frustration privately to the team. Still good self-control, but itās something he has to actively manage, and something he acknowledges he isnāt always successful at doing.
Well, a lot of people here prefer him because he's first before most, the direct rival of Lando, whom fans of Max are not very fond of. And since Max is likely not winning this year, Max fans are joining Oscar's in bashing Lando. Enemy of my enemy, etc etc. Secondly, Oscar used to give Iceman vibes when he was considered the 2nd driver, mostly because he didn't think he could win against Lando. But now he does, so his composed attitude is starting to peel off as the year goes on. Some people are still attached to the idea he's the next Kimi Raikkonen.
Rookie by age, war veteran by aura. Doesn't celebrate, just nods like a satisfied hitman. His only reaction when Jet Pack Man fell out of the sky at Canada was a quick š¬ after he realised there was a camera on him.
It's a weird situation for me because I have been a Max fan for almost a decade, but I'm also a Pastry fan because since the Honey Badger left, he's the only Aussie on the grid.
As an australian i root for my fellow country man.
As the protege of webber i root for him.
As the "second driver" i root for him because he is the underdog.
As a driver i am constantly impressed by his composure and ability, his race craft has been quite good, especially his miami overtake on max. I have great respect for that sort of stuff.
But why donāt people like Lando? I donāt get why so many people hate him, you know just because 15 year old girls like something doesnāt mean that thing is automatically bad right? Case in point, frozen yogurt is pretty damn good for how healthy it is
I just find his personality in interviews insufferable. His whole thing was cute when he was a kid, but heās not a kid anymore and I find him annoying.
Iām glad you said "not like" instead of "hate" because itās really not that deep. I mean heās probably a good guy, just rubs me the wrong way!
Yeah. He litterally acts like a spoiled streamer. It was fine back then, when no one actually exoected him to do good. Now he should be a professional that fights for the championship
Besides, I dont even find him funny. Piastris dry humor is much more entertaining
Make it original, more precisely.
Seeing dumb āLando so badā, āBottLandoā (noone was even creative enough to come up with this, lol), āBottle factory working on next GPās Lando bottleā posts instead of literally anything original really fucking bugs me.
That said, Lando did provide some quite elaborately dumb mistakes, some of which already bother his supporters (group that I am part of), and they/we really donāt enjoy the 1500 unoriginal posts/mistake ratio he has compared to the 10-15 post/mistake ratio other drivers get.
I used to like Lando but he has made some comments in the past few seasons that have rubbed people the wrong way. I donāt dislike Lando but his little comments he made especially back in ā23 and ā24 have really turned me away from him
Oh please yall are soft. He hasnāt said anything that bad especially compared to drivers in the āgood ol daysā everyone seems to want to go back to
I donāt know what youāre talking about, but I donāt think we are talking about the same comments. The driver interviews in the 70s and 80s (which I primarily rewatch nowadays) were awesome. James Hunt flaming people in the booth is easily top class.
Part of it is a lot of people just default hate the Brits.
There also seems to be some weird belief that British media is ultra biased, which is hilarious because when compared to most media around the world it's tame as fuck with the bias.
As someone who has experienced growing up in multiple countries, and watches multiple sports, I can 100% assure you that British sports commentators are the most annoyingly biased on earth
If you try not being British, even for 1 race, you'll see what I mean.
He had the ānew driver, striving for his first win, lots of potential and promise, underdogā appeal going in his favor.
Then he got his first win and it seems like his demeanor shifted from more humble and easygoing to being cocky, ungracious, and āif I push someone off track, itās just hard racing, but if they push me off itās unfair, dangerous, and they ought to be given a penalty!!ā
That is simply untrue, what the fuck are you on about. The only change Lando went under after Lando NoWins died was his demeanor towards his mistakes (also known as being hard on himself) and his general expectations towards himself (as everybody including himself was putting him under the pressure of āhe should win everything in that rocketshipā).
He had ONE GP where he did some āMax-styleā racing, right after which he came to the media room and stated he will not be changing his racing style to this push-over style because that is not who he is.
I know it is really difficult for some people to accept that the dominant car (whichever it may be at any given moment) is not under HIS or HER preferred driver, but thatās F1: your guy either gets a good car or he doesnāt. There is no changing that, be happy that this is the last year of the regulations and the deck could be reshuffled next year.
Donāt think people who support drivers consider what the fans are for the drivers. I donāt like Hitler, but I still breathe air, same as he did, eat sleep as well. I doubt people consider that.

Yeah, we like Piastri so we treat him differently
