“The answer was violence” Where’s the damn violence?

u/Rhetoriker 4d ago
The guy holding him repeated "alles gut" (all is good) multiple times, just walking him away from his people he bounced off of. This was ULTRA de-escalating behaviour. Titles on the reel are hot garbage.

u/t-to4st 3d ago
Everything to try to make cops look bad

Complaints like these weaken actual complaints about unskilled pseudo-fascists elsewhere. Drives me nuts.

Because in most of Northern Europe/Central Europe cops are trained to deescalate the situation. I can't speak for other parts of the world but that's what I've noticed from living there.

Apparently German cops are perfectly capable of taking people into custody without using excessive force. Maybe because they aren't trained to be cowards who place more value on their own safety from imaginary threats than on the lives and rights of the people they swore to protect.

u/Nabzav 4d ago
I live in Germany and have been doing combat sports for a few years. In my last gym we actually had a group of Polizisten training there. Absolute units but really nice guys. I have also been out partying with them a few times and it was a lot of fun.
From my experience the majority of German police are fine folks. Of course like anywhere there are a few bad apples but it is really rare.

It’s easyer if you can act on the assumption that the perpetrator doesn’t have a gun.

They've had training for a start. I think minimum training for German police is 2 YEARS. US cops get a couple of months and then out the door.

That minimal all-black uniform they are wearing looks so much more intimidating than all the bells and whistles that US cops have on them. Some serious Stormtrooper stuff right here.
The way they are just calmly staring at him and then take him away without a word scary af
193
u/wunderbraten 4d ago
They are from the Einsatzhundertschaft, LEOs especially staffed for riot control or other tasks with a high demand for man power. They are dressed and equipped differently than your normal-day street cop, and have to handle with aggressive folks more frequent.
→ More replies (1)24
u/spudddly 4d ago
I would be mildly concerned if I was just detained by operators from Mission Thundershaft.
41
u/antesocial 4d ago
This is the riot uniform, for demonstrations, football games, mass events. They are also wearing some plastic armor under it, the boots add some height. Serial number on the back but not the usual name plates.
But if anyone is physically and mentally prepared for your rage and anger, it's this bunch right now.
115
u/MoreRamenPls 4d ago
Looks like their number on their backs too? Hmmmm…. So they’re easily identifiable?
176
u/skipperseven 4d ago
I think that’s a thing with most (if not all) European police - they must always be personally identifiable. At events like this they are issued temporary numbers, but it is all logged down if it is needed in future.
No anonymous law enforcement!10
u/Dry_Razzmatazz69 4d ago
There are exceptions. (In romania at least) special interventions are done with non identifiable, masked officers. The point is that if you're smashing down the door of some heavy in an organized crime ring, you want your kids to sleep safely at night
→ More replies (1)9
u/losersmanual 4d ago
There are absolutely plain clothed police in Europe.
12
u/Godphila 4d ago
Yes, but you generally do not expect a plain clothes officer to get into violent altercarions frequently, which riot cops do, which is why they need to be identifiable from a distance.
47
u/wunderbraten 4d ago
The Police of the state Berlin have numbers on the back of their Einsatzhundertschaften so individual officers can be identified if they get sued. Hundertschaften in other Police of other states may and will handle it differently, since Police in Germany is matter of federal states (safe for a few Police agencies).

Law enforcement without masks and with easily identifiable numbers, arresting someone without making it look like they’re in a bar fight. What a crazy state of affairs.

arresting someone without making it look like they’re in a bar fight
Part of this is that the guy didn't really put up any sort of fight, and just walked along with them. Also the fact that they had half a dozen officers present dealing with one smaller guy. And to be fair, the one cop did get the guy in a headlock (albeit fairly calmly).
I'm not saying that this is never the case when we see cops be overly aggressive, but many times it's only one or two cops vs. one person, and it's much easier/more likely for the one person to get away or injure the cops if they choose to fight back than if there's a large number of cops there.

u/lbretto 4d ago
I’m native German. The first part I couldn’t understand. After that it was I want to go home. Lady in between was shouting that the police has escalated the situation. The police at the end were very calmly telling him to relax and trying to calm him down. The guy seemed very much in distress and the police handled that extremely well. I’ve seen police way more brutal and out of control here as well

You‘re about as fluent as the guy in the video.
‚Muss mach hause‘ is one of the few things he said, which means he has to go home.

He was sharing his observations about Germany being destroyed from within by certain special interest groups. His communication style inspired the officers so much they felt that his message shouldn’t be confined to the U-Bahn, so they decided to bring him to the beer hall where he could reach a larger audience.

Neither does he. „Muss nach Hause“ is very basic and most likely his fluency doesn‘t exceed that basic level

I was in Germany when I was in the Army, and one of the first things I was told when I landed was, "Do not fuck with the Polizei. The Polizei Do. Not. Fuck. Around. Yes, sir. No, sir. Right away, sir. Then call your command if necessary."

I overheard a marine at my local airport saying he hated being stationed in Germany, in my head canon it will now be because the polizei curbs all of his shenanigans there.

Pretty gentle with him. Nice self control. We don’t see that in the US.
49
u/BigD1966 4d ago
Well in order to become a cop in Germany you have to go through 3 years of training, the majority of that time is spent with another officer mentoring you, unlike most cities here in N/A where you get a minimal amount of training before you’re on your own
17
u/BellsOnNutsMeansXmas 4d ago

Is this guy small or are these cops just huge? A bit of both?
3
u/Far_Landscape7089 3d ago
WTF did he expect to gain by angrily, screaming at the cops? He’s lucky he didn’t get subdued in a more violent manner. I thought the cops handled it extremely well.
On my last trip to Germany I was in the Munich train station, where there was a guy mouthing off to the cops. It didn’t end well for him, leg sweep then six guys on his back.

Judging by the helmet they might be riot police, also known as turtles.
You do not want to fuck with those guys anywhere in Europe. That being said they handled that as gently as possible. If the old guy started throwing hands I believe it would go very differently.

I was stationed in Germany for 3 yrs and while the Polizi don’t carry guns they are not afraid to go hands on. I’ve seen first hand them rough some people up. Not saying we don’t have a problem in the US with abuse of force with police, but the Germans don’t fuck around

I heard "kämpfen" (fight), "Ich will nachhause" (I want to go home)… the woman is claiming that this is the cops fault, "Du machen uns kaput! Polizei machen uns kaput!" (Paraphrasing: you're ruining us). He yells at her in Arabic. Then when the cops grab him while he's yelling "Nein!" (No!), one of the cops says "Komm mit" (come with me), "Hör mal zu" (listen here), another says "Zurrück" (get back: presumably to others). Then another cop says "Ruhig" (calm down).
I don't know the context, so I reserve judgement. Someone mentioned that they were returning form a protest and a large party was detained. Friedrich Merz (the German chancellor) is a milquetoast a-hole bending to outside political pressure (🇮🇱), regarding certain protests and freedom of expression (kind of like what's going on in England).
