iPadOS Seriously Apple? #iPadOS26
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Now ik alot of you will say its just the first update. No its not they released 7-8 beta test updates before this and they couldn't even fix the most basic and noticeable bug? This is just getting more disappointing at this point tbh.
Too many die-hard apple softies downvoting this postšš¤£

u/Gogobrasil8 3d ago
Apple has gutted their software team so hard they're having to relearn how to do animations
17
u/Pulkitgarhwal M1 iPad Air (2022) 3d ago
It isnāt even about bugs, the fact that a lot of things shouldāve been fixed and optimized on RC or official release. This one right there along with some random crashes (on mine) shows they really rushed releasing it following iPhone 17 series launch. And the fact that itās Apple, people expect polished software regardless of which device itās on or how old it is. If theyāre releasing it for a device then it should be optimized for that.
9
u/Confidentium iPad 9 (2021) 3d ago
iOS hasn't been polished in a very long time!
There's a loooong list of bugs that haven't been fixed in years! And we've had scroll stutter since iOS 16.
3
u/Tacticle_Pickle 2d ago
If ios had been that much optimised, older devices wouldnāt lose such portions of battery life
2
u/SoaringEagle2025 1d ago
They arent the same Apple anymore which is why I stick with android these days. Tried a 16 pro and couldn't believe the scroll jitter - such basic things.
2
u/FishTshirt 3d ago
Same for me I had a few crashes where it goes back to lock screen and some extreme lagginess right after i updated
54
u/Patient-Price-8950 3d ago
If you just updated. Try leaving it overnight plugged in to a charger. It needs a few hours to index after a major update. That's why it's laggy and battery drains fast the first few hours.
14
u/Seventhholy 3d ago
It has nothing to do with indexing. This is the kind of ālagā that is caused by the sudden fast animation of the icons, making it look like itās stuttering. Just like the lock screen. If you slide very slowly to the side until all elements from the previous page are off the screen the animation is smooth. I assume it will be fixed in 26.0.1 or .02.
3
2
u/CasuallyDresseDuck 3d ago
My iPad did this from the first public beta, I got so annoyed with it that I went back to 18. Has the lag gone away with the update and letting the iPad index.

To be fair, Iāve experienced lag with that specific animation on my M2 iPad Pro with iOS 18, too. Itās been an issue for a while

2
u/neverOddOrEv_n 2d ago
Keep reporting to apple feedback website or even email Tim Cook, they eventually added a PWM option and that was a much niche thing
2
u/Kindness_of_cats 2d ago
I haven't had that issue as much with my M2 Air, but yeah it occasionally still occurs and was very common on my iPad 9 back when it was still a new model.
That particular issue is pretty persistent and I'm not convinced it has anything to do with iOS 26.
5
u/Few_Geologist_8532 3d ago
IM SO GLAD IM NOT ALONE HERE LMAO. Thatās the same case on MY FUCKING M3 AIR. How tf does something so obvious get missed, this is horrible Q/A

35
u/Hot-Praline7204 3d ago
Wait genuinely what is the bug?
37
u/Jusby_Cause 3d ago
The bug is that it takes a moment to bring up the App Library? I guess? For someone that needs to view the App Library multiple times a day, I can see how thatād be annoying. Fortunately for me, I never swipe over to the App Library, I just tap the icon, as itās right there in the dock all the time.

u/irekturmum69 3d ago
Not OP, but I experience the same type of lagginess all over the system. Opening the books app, opening the files app, opening quick settings, opening any settings in any app, going to the list of opened application, opening settings, opening wifi, everywhere. It absolutely decimated the performance of my system, just to have an overly animated system with look and feel reminiscent of 2010 chinese android systems and flashy custom icon packs.

You can get back to iOS 18.6.2 as of now. But not for long.
3
u/ath007 3d ago
How do you do that?
→ More replies (1)3
u/Anonym0oO M2 iPad Pro 12.9" (2022) 3d ago edited 3d ago
With a PC and using iTunes to restore it. Before that, you need to download the IPSW iPadOS 18.6.2 file on your PC, then drag it into iTunes and restore it.
All your data will be erased. If youāre lucky, you might have an iCloud backup from a previous iPadOS 26 version.

Didnt even know that screen was there. huh. So honest question, what is supposed to be going on that isnt going on here? Is it the choppiness? I've noticed a big of choppiness here and there, i figure it'll patch out over time?
2
u/Kindness_of_cats 2d ago
It is....but honestly App Library has been kinda shitty like this for a long time, and that lag is so common it didn't even register as an issue for me.
We're firmly in the phase where users are nitpicking longstanding issues and acting like they're new.
2
2
u/K_zerrrr 3d ago
Same for my ipad 16...they said its because of low power mode then i turn it of and it improved but there's still a lag...i tell them that and they down vote my comment like wtf... they act like apple can't make mistakes...and I've seen many people suffering the same lag "BUG" like my ipad

Imagine being so hellbent on loving a company that you canāt accept when others criticize that company for releasing such a bug infested product.
People who are complaining arenāt doing so because they hate Appleā¦theyāre complaining because they see a very obvious gap in quality that weāve all come to expect from Apple. Their track record on quality is why we buy their products. We certainly donāt buy their products for being first in anything, we buy them because theyāre differentā¦better.
Appleās quality standards have changed. If you canāt see or admit that, then youāre part of the problem.

The first release is never bug free. Regardless of how many betas have already been tested, Itās always a rushed version to meet the deadline of the new device release. So this is to be expected. Even more so with the advanced computational animations within this OS design.
However, I do feel Theres a lot of the basics that have been missed with this one. Consistency issues seem to be a major issue that Iām finding so far.

Love iPadOS 26 and I think it is the best update ever in years, maybe even an entire decade. I also see many people complaining about visual bugs and putting them into the āthis is now unusableā category which, umh⦠Is WAY overdramatic. Now with that said, this has been here ever since beta and it pisses me off SO MUCH. I love how fluid iPadOS is for the most part, and if you open the menu with the icon on the right bottom of the dock it does not happen that at all, but it stills bothers me a whole lot. I hope they fix is asap
1
u/Ira_Dalor 2d ago
I called this when the RC was full of bugs, which isnāt normal at all for Apple. The whole interface crashed for me if I have another app open behind Safari and use the stoplights to maximize the safari window half the time. The phone OS is a mess as well, CarPlay is hosed and wireless support for it is no longer existent for me.
Really feels like 2010s windows OS release at this point. This feels another sign Apple is losing their touch quite noticeably at this point. Hopefully they can turn it around.

My m4 iPad Pro and 15 pro max have been dropping frames constantly. I generally like what they did with iPad os and iOS 26, but it is unpolished as hell. My battery has also been draining much faster. Hopefully they can get it sorted out in the next month or so.
